I disagree about the dead thing. Vanilla TF2, while still getting 1 to 2 thousand players per day, is still EXTREMELY hard to find games in. Most times when logging on between 5:00am to 12:00pm, I'll only usually see around 700 players on the advocate network at most, usually closer to 600 on a good day and 300 on most days. This is of course not taking into account the times when the Titanfall 2 community just... Collectively decides to play the game at a certain time again? The servers ARE finally fixed, after years of being absolutely unplayable. But as far as finding matches in Vanilla TF2? Most days you'll be spending 5 to 8 minutes just trying to get into a game of attrition. Compare this to Northstar, which while it may have less players on it, still allows you to go into a preset server (or make your own) at any time you want, making the act of getting into a game much, much faster. And even if you can't find any game modes you like playing, chances are you can just join an empty server (or start your own) and you'll usually have people joining within one to three matches.
