Pavane no 50 by G Faure ; arranged for treble recorder and guitar by Ian Thomson
This is the Pavane op 50 by Gabriel Faure (1845-1924) , arranged for treble recorder and guitar by my brother Ian Thomson (1941-2015).
The piece was written in 1887. It was originally a piano piece, but is well known as Fauré's version for orchestra and optional chorus. It was first performed in Paris in 1888, becoming one of the composer's most popular works, and remains a popular piece today.
The "Pavane," from which Faure's piece borrows its title and its underlying rhythm, is a sixteenth century court dance, performed in pairs, often as part of a wedding procession. It is a sedate and dignified couple dance.
Regarding the tempo, Ian marked this as Allegro moderato, which I think relates to a piano scoring. This seems quite quick for this piece , being about a tempo of 105. In a 1901 Paris publication of orchestral score, the tempo is marked as Andante molto moderato , =84. I have uploaded Ian's version to MUSECORE4 and using this to play the piece, and given a tempo of 85.
Ian also arranged this piece for two guitars, and this is also posted on this site.

El Noi de la Mare

This is a version for guitar arranged by my brother Ian Thomson (1941-2015). El Noi de La Mare (the child of the mother) is a famous Catalan Christmas folk song. It was made famous by the guitar version arranged by Miguel Llobet, which was often played by Andres Segovia. However that piece is quite difficult to play. Therefore I think Ian made this arrangement as a simpler piece to play but whi...
Minuet in A minor by Jean P. Rameau arr. for two guitars by Ian Thomson

This is an arrangement for two guitars by my brother Ian Thomson (1941-2015). I have transcribed this into MUSESCORE and used this to play the piece. Jean Rameau was a Baroque composer, and he originally wrote this for the harpsichord. There are a few trills in the piano piece, which could possibly be added to the playing in this piece to reflect the Baroque period.

"Ye Banks and Braes" ; by Rabbie Burns Arranged for guitar by Ian Thomson (1941-2015) Some playing hints. This is a very sad song of abandoned love. Remember that when playing! The piece can be played quite effectively essentially as indicated, mostly in the lower positions. However the interpretation used by Matthew McAlistair is highly recommended, as it reflects the poignancy of the piece. M...

Great ❤, what is the program name?
Hi, As noted , these are arrangements by my brother that I have come across while looking through his extensive music collection. I am transcribing the pieces onto Musescore4 , and using that program to play the pieces to make them available for others. I am hoping to get my own playing up to a good enough standard to be able to play these one day, but I am very 'rusty' at the moment!
@billthomson7468 Thank you so much 💓
Bravo !
Thank You!
