(Relatively) Simple CHIPPED ARMOUR Tutorial - Part 2

This a relatively easy technique for achieving the chipped/damaged armour look seen on my custom Sark Asaré (Mandalorian) and Fox (Halo) figures. Black Series Stormtrooper Comparison
มุมมอง 2.9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I said it wasn't going to be a review, but it ended up being a quasi-review anyway... Mostly, though, it's a comparison between the original Black Series Stormtrooper figure and the newly-released "Mandalorian" version of the Stormtrooper.
SO HELPFUL! Thank you, this method worked flawlessly for me. Thank you!
What about a pinless knee joint?
I'm definitely going to try this. Thanks!
Underwear is the key of all this process, really inspire me. Thankyou bro 😄
Hoho !!! 🫵😲
Great tip and great sculpt
Thanks for the tutorial! Have you used nuln oil on your figures at all? I just picked up some republic commandos and wrapping my head on how to make them look better!
@Stormnorman15 I use Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade on smaller things, not on a full figure. I find they darken light colours a little too much (and they're four times the cost of the paints I used in this video).
a good substitute for glue would be uv resin
One thing I do is hit the areas where the hot glue touches the inside of the head with super thin CA glue and let it wick in giving the hot glue a stronger bond so there is less chance of it separating if you take the head off more than a few times. Use a scalpel or plastic tooth pick/ glue loop to drop the glue so you don't get any CA on your paint job, it will ruin it!
Would air dry clay work just as well as hot glue?
No. The reason the hot glue works is that it remains a little flexible after it dries - I don't believe air dry clay would.
@@davidwhale8146 Thanks!
I can't put it back in😐
Make sure you heat up the leg again and that you're putting the narrow end in first.
@@davidwhale8146 I did this a few time but this figure the hole doesn't aline and the peg have the same size on both end so I couldn't put it back in, and than I messed up when heating and it melted 😭
I'm having the same problem with movie stormshadow. Pegs are same in both ends but can't get back in my thumbs and fingers are raw now from trying. I've heard many times no go on it
@@Vander101 any updates?
Being stationed on Dagobah is no joke!
Great job and thanks for the info
Cool tip! Thank you for making this video.

have ever work with Final Faction Figurs
valeo u gota be ritch
Does supper glue work or must it be hot glue?
Do NOT use superglue, you will fuse the joint. The reason hot glue works is that even when it hardens it still remains slightly pliable. Superglue does not.
Silicone could give you a better result.
This is great thank you 🙏🏼 can I ask where the knight action figure comes from also please ?
No problem. The knight is the Red Shield Knight figure from a line called Mythic Legions. They get very expensive on the secondary market, so if you're looking to get in on the line, you'll want to get the latest stuff or even preorder. A markup of 300% or more above retail is not unusual on the secondary market.
Excellent solution sir! Thank you 👏🏾😁
A touch of paint here and there an looks amazing. Thanks for such an informative tutorial
Nice video question does this work on g.i. Joe classified as well
Yes, it should work on any figure with pin joints.
Great video! I’m just building my very first ever custom action figure and this, save my life! The force is strong with you my friend! Thank you so much!!!
IIIII ain't got no boddyy....(Two things you need: a head and a body)
Why is there an opening/hole in the ball joint? Is it for easier insertion?
I tried this and had to cut a bigger, rounder opening to have the head be able to swivel 'safely' and because I still want to be able to take off the head from time to time. But it's a great tip. Thank you.
Nice to see you still playing with modifying action figures. I miss it at times. But just no time and space for it at the moment. Ugh, I still have so many tubs of Apoxie Sculpt. 😞
This is a great tutorial and the results are amazing. I really want to try this out now.
Ill be trying this with some wwe heads for sure!
Interesting!, thanks
the sealant do you just spray whole fig??even when paintin certain area's??
hate the tvc female's, they makin em their own toy line pretty much, so you have the tvc 3.75 line, and the 3" line, bo katan and fennec and vel could have been awesome, but for some stupid reason made em half size
i actually used the black widow head to make mara jade, might upgrade it to shea head, but picked widow becuz she is who i picked to be mara, in my "head canon" if you will
"want soft underwear becuz do not want wrap...."leia said your crazy, metal is the way, or go home
This action figure pin just fucking declines to go through the joint
I want to do this on my transformer figures but I’m scared I can’t transform them
As long as you don't get the paint in the joints, you should be fine. But an alternative you could look at is Gundam Markers to do panel lining. It's less "dirty" than this weathering, but still makes all the details pop.
Yes...i see
I use the same process, but instead of water, I use my wives hair dryer. It's quicker and you don't have to worry about having wet plastic slipping out of your hand, and accidentally slicing your hand open
Thanks for this. Been wanting to fix some of hasbro’s mistakes on a few of my figures but been nervous to damage them. This is super helpful
Where can I buy these
Awesome video. Thanks. I want to dirty up a Hot Toys Scout Trooper, and I think this will work great for his armor. Now I just need a technique to fade his pants and undersuit.
Tamiya makes some weathering powders that are perfect for weathering fabrics. I use them a lot on soft goods.
What about Disassembling a body like ulysses klaw that you have? Do i need a boormachine? 04:44 but the way how do I find such a thing on Amazon?
If you mean disassembling the torso, you would need to crack it open at the seams. There are a few ways to do this - if you search "cracking Marvel Legends torso" on TH-cam, you should be able to find a couple tutorials.
Thanks for showing us how this works. A Brit guy I was watching did the same thing with Black Series figures. However, he never showed if the head can be removed or not. Since I have an expensive Mezco figure with interchangeable heads, I was too scared to do it in case the head gets stuck permanently. But glad to see it works and the head can be popped out. Thank you for sharing this very informative video!
Just be aware if you're taking the head on and off a lot, you may need to pull out the glue and redo the joint at some point. The friction of taking it on/off will eventually deform the glue.
Great tip Brother ...
Cool, thank you
I love your work Brother, thank you.
The Petroleum Jelly aka Vaseline w/ Shea Butter hurdle earned you my sub. I actually ordered a few containers of that type years ago and... now, at least one may see some use. 😆 Thanks for the the Tutorial! 👍
Thank u so much
