Great videos. The only part I'm missing is how to use these in my factory. Is the idea to feed it as much ore as possible, and does this equal a maximum of 6 fully overclocked smelters? (75 * 6 = 450 ore to ingots, as a Mk.4 belt can only move 480 per minute)
@@shadaxgaming I have an example vid in the playlist where I show you just that! As well as how it actually looks in my base. As far as the numbers, you just build overkill, usually, rather than exactsies!

I like to wire the requester chest to the assembler. Then check read ingredients on the assembler, and set requests on the requester chest. Now it will automatically request whatever the assembler needs. No need for more than the single parameter of what item is being made.
You need a combinator to multiply the requests though. Requesting just enough for one recipe is generally way less than the assembler needs. Though it does work!
About your tank vs. car discussion - the average player in factorio (i.e. people that like the 'engineer' mindset) could also accept pretty quickly that cars and tanks are not controlled the same way, even if they find it surprising at first, instead of ... talking for 10 minutes about why it's not intuitive (which is more of a streamer's "let's nitpick cause we are smart and like/have to talk" thing) :P . This isn't aimed at you specifically, but it often happens when people start explaining stuff in front of an audience somehow they get caught inside their argument so much that even if they sometimes realize they're maybe wrong in the middle of it, they now have to press on, expand the web and convince (themselves) that their argument stills hold water. That's the power of language, sometimes it even uses us instead of the other way around :) But other than that moment, great playthrough so far!
I used the same shaft driving technique as you for prospecting - except using dirt to level back out. Easier to return down to the vein.
Nice video - you are so patient with your efforts to diversify your food. Not sure why you were fretting over the durability and effectiveness of the crappiest tools out there.

9:17 Thank you for that tip!! I struggled to put down that vertical beam, it would stay horizontal the whole time, and every now and then I'd see a flash of a vertical one and then it'd be gone again. The diagonal seems to work most of the time!
dosnt twitch only pay out after a threshold is reached? - I believed i heard that atleast. Thats why alot of people get partner status but twitch keeps the money until amount x is reached
@@Aemy1990 sort of. I can still see the live analytics of income, even though they don't pay it out daily. Yes there is a threshold of $50 for payouts, and they payout monthly, if you're over the threshold. But all that being said, that is mostly unrelated to what I was thinking about at the beginning of the episode.
How the f we are expected to know what functions/syntax these fields accept? I spent a good while googling and this is the first source I found on how to make a logical expression work there. I don't think any in-game tips actually clarify this...

It's certainly complex but you start out on a simpler planet, and it's not so bad. And one thing leads to another! It's great! Though Factorio is quite a different game than SF

~22:00 I learned "mirrored" direction order rather than north/east/south/west. It was a rhyme from a book which translated would be "North, west, south, east / the invader will not be able to lift a leg" but in rhyme. It's from "Школа колдунов" (School of Mages) by Бердичевский(a book was published a decade before Harry Potter). I remember reading it when I was around 10 years old and honestly I don't remember much beside that rhyme. I've noticed that a lot of people lear NESW rather than NWSE, but it's hard to tell: I probably don't notice when people go with NWSE mnemonics

Having artillery on Gleba really saved my sanity - You do have to be careful with auto targetting in the beginning, for obvious reasons lol
I made a calcite harvesting orbital platform above Nauvis. Gathering everything from the buildable area. It recycled all asteroids into the water type to make calcite. It only produced a very weak 30 calcite per minute. It might be possible to build a moving ship that travels around gathering up a worthwhile amount of calcite. Easier to just mine it from Vulcanus though.
Yeah harvesting when stopped above Nauvis is pretty trash, cause there are no mediums. there's no "might be" about your second suggestion, I would argue that's the way to do it. Build a ship that goes to all 4 planets and drops calcite as needed, I bet it gets waaaay more than 30/min. Not to mention that you get even more calcite as you improve your asteroid productivity researches and your productivity modules in the asteroid crushers. Is it just easier to mine it from vulcanus? Yeah, probably, but that's not what this topic is about I guess, :D

I heared the rumors and decided to visit it last. I landed on Vulcanus naked and without supplies. Because stupid. I managed the challende and learned. My visit finally on Gleba was more prepared- yet it took ages to get it going
But I think if in a second run I'll try the challenge to visit it first. With an enormous sipply platform that dropships stuff from asteroids to help factory grow.
*I also cant get used to shift-r: I just build one building then copy-paste it with q. * fluid tanks feel underwhelming: each tank is 25K. But single fluid wagon is 50K
I really do like Gleba, I started off being a bit frustrated by it because it felt like I was trying to make a functioning factory out of a giant ball of mold that clogs every few minutes, but a 'traditional' factory design with a saturated main bus of products isn't going to work there. The belts need to flow, excess stuff needs to be burned. Burned items aren't wasted because resources are infinite and can actually power the entire base for free. Unlike the other planets, you don't have to keep chasing after new resource patches to keep it running once you have everything setup. It's a really fun design challenge.

For my bio chamber builder i liked using bots to get 1 eggs only each time and i always let it spoil and get shot by a wall o turrets they turn on rarelly to kill the newborns

I used rocket fuel to power the heating towers.
I like that they are both: energy devices and trash incinerators. You are not forced to use their energy. Though roket fuel is easy to come by on gleba

If you struggle with the higher conveyor line not snapping into the right place I found another workaround! Once you get the lower conveyor line completed just stack one merger or splitter on top of them. After that the higher line snaps to the same grid and it "clicked" and worked flawlessly. No idea why this happened but I struggled with it for a while. Awesome tutorial and kudos for the no clipping mentality (for the most visible/aesthethic pieces). Also helps with the upgradebility.
Thanks for the tutorial! i finally got my paratensized quality mall (up to rare) setup with ease after some tinkering. If you use the 0 number with the rarity turned on it you can setup all the storage with ease aswell!
Imagine having a platform that sends all your needs to the surface.
that is basically what you do when visiting any new planet. you just always stumble upon things you forgot to bring and either have to craft them locally or wait for your ship to do a round trip.
@happyhafer1403 was thinking of a mall that takes care of all your needs manufactured from asteroids
@@teridero1 with the advanced asteroid processing you could make that work. though the amount of asteroids would probably not be enough to saturate your processing in any useful degree. well, if you regularly let it travel between planets, that issue would also be solved.
Also, the egg spoilage problem, you can lock up the machine by using logic, just make sure you dont overfeed or underfeed
Loops and bots, otherwise make sure to have nutrients from spoilage as your backup

@30:46 if you created the blueprint from shift-ctrl-C, you could have just hit ctrl-V to get back to your last-pasted thing and then clicked that into your blueprint book, as it saves it in your paste history instead of inventory in this case. (The paste history that you scroll through is literally a list of stored blueprint items in the game engine, you can save any of them to your blueprint book or inventory this way.)
