Now out in Early Access, Annihilate The Space is an awesome RTS focusing on macro rather than micro. The demo was such a blast when we played it back in 2023 and I'm excited to play way more missions in the full release (well, the full EA release!)

Awesome ! Please bring more
Interesting looking mod! Who knows, I might even try it once I've been to the shattered planet. :)
So I'm super new to the game and just checking stuff out for my first playthrough but are the splitters required on the tops or can the lifts just connect and dump stuff right onto the belt?
@@yogertslinger84 lifts can only connect to belts via splitters and mergers.
Purely my guess, I didn't know for sure. "Hunt" - attack move (attacking enemy closest to ship), "Focus" - attacking enemy closest to waypoint, "Move" - moving to the waypoint, ignoring all enemies or possibly shooting them while flying.
@@Vadymaus yeah. Focus is the weird one, idk why it's the default, tbh. I learned on the discord it's basically a move command but with a very small aggro radius and a ship will stop moving to defend itself.
You are good in this
Ya it's official. Love this soundtrack.
@@4ozscoop it's really great! Makes the time pass even faster when you play this game!
Oh hell, 3d obliterate everything?
@@sparkezel9275 heck yeah! It's awesome!
Great review! My thoughts on SpaceAge itself: I found the complexity to be enough that I got a little burned out on playing it, and kinda paused playing for a while. I've gotten back into it a little, and am continuing to play in bits, but there are like 12 different major projects I'm trying to work on, so... it's hard. The main one: finally get to Aquilo. :)
P.S. To be fair, some of this is my own doing, and not really fair to put on the game. For example, one of my projects is making a great digital display to show numbers from a circuit value on a series of display panels (like, something one could get for free with the nixie tubes mod(s?)), and... that involved enough tedium, that I decided to write code out-of-game to make the blueprint string, but then that has enough complexity in trying to make that code generalizeable for other uses, that... it's a whole thing, and that's not Factorio's fault. :D (Indeed, it's one of the really cool things -- that it's just JSON wrapped up in some compression and base64, all well-documented, so it's reasonably possible for me to even do this kind of thing. Meanwhile, though, not having that code and thus the display all done made me kinda pause playing the game... so, now I'm back at the game, without the code done, using one of the built-in-game versions that's not quite what I want it to be (especially: it doesn't support negative numbers), but at least it mostly works (most things I want to monitor are non-negative, so whatever). :)
yeah. I almost need to make another video review. My opinion of space age has dropped by about 2 points (out of 10) since this video. I think the more I've sat with it, the more I've come to like the foundational design of a lot of SA stuff less. Particularly quality, and the siloing of bases and requiring a clunky system like space platforms to go between them (which is a considerably worse than trains experience). So basically we now have more mental overhead in the late game than previously.
1:05:22 - personally tend not to pay much attention to live stuff. For things like this, I tend to like to watch at circa 2x speed (plus or minus, thanks to the Video Speed Controller browser extension, so sometimes 1.8x, sometimes 2.1x, whatever, depending on how fast my brain is going and how fast a person talks, etc.), which can't be done while watching live, and then... I don't think to check the live tab for post-live content. FWIW.
P.S. That all said, random idea for a potential live video AND a pre-recorded video: I think it might be fun to see (the VOD playback of) a livestream of you figuring out, in detail, train interrupts... trying different things, seeing where things break down, trying to make them better, etc., culminating with a more scripted (or at least planned) video summarizing what you learned in the end, which could link to the livestream (and you could mention it), saying something like "if you'd like to see my process of figuring all this out, check the live stream, linked below" or whatever. I dunno if that's quite your style or not, but, just an idea that I think might be fun. I imagine a lot of folks would only watch the short summary, but for those who wanted the longer content, especially if it was a long stream (or even a series/playlist of multiple streams, where you do some research of something off-camera in between, and then come back and try things out), you could get a lot of watch minutes out of it, even if not a lot of view count. Anyway, I dunno if this is a good idea or not, I just know it's a thought I had, and you were asking for those (1:08:30), so, here we are. :)
1:23:50 - Congrats! :)
2:45 watching you work to bring down iron to the pipe assembler was killing me
Is this the in game music? It's not bad.
@@4ozscoop yep!
Music gets better by Kreydell (or when you play Skirmish and the other themes randomly play)
seeing burners near the ash disposal line re imputing its ash in it self it's realy triggering, but in this run you are not firing at the disposal boxes all the time so i dont know what to think
hahaha :D
I use LTN a lot. I have not find a good alternative or useable tutorial for trains. Have to experience myself. Also I have a 1.1 pY (with LTN) save and want to use it. Is it duable (If a good trainsystem is available)
Project cybersyn is widely regarded as even better than LTN by a lot of people who have made the switch. Its what I have installed for this run as well, but I haven't gotten to trains yet so I can't say anything about it as this is my first time trying cybersyn.
4:54 - lol, simple fake back-seating: your shrine to the legendary green chip uses a nice orange, but doesn't have 5 little pips of it, instead just having the square... suggestion: 8 lamps immediately surrounding the chest, and then 4 groups of 9 lamps (3x3 squares) on corners from there. :D :D :D (I know, I know, too late... but, thought you might enjoy the thought, and if nothing else, it's an engagement point or something.)
OMG - I thought my houses needed to be in the radius of the grocery store. O.M.G. This changes quite a bit.
Is this a game that you can drop 50 - 100hrs into it in a short time, or is there not enough content in the game yet to allow the game to last that long? $30 is a steep price for a company that's not known and a EA Game. (IMO)
There's a free demo to try if you want! Right now there's only the shallows campaign + the kreydell campaign. Sometime in the next couple weeks they said one of the side-missions campaigns will also become available. But if you're wanting ALL the campaigns before you purchase it, it will probably still be a bit!
Super in favor of more content, i just really hope you don't cut any content or do a bunch of stuff "between" episodes, like a lot of TH-camrs do. But the most important is that you do stuff a way you can enjoy :) Love the content, keep going.
28:34 - I think the key with the blueprints is, don't put 'em in boxes before you fly. Put 'em in the library if you want 'em, or delete them if you don't. And since bots won't take them from you on "Trash unrequested", you can just get rid of stuff that way, go through anything the bots didn't take and decide what to do with it, and you're good. IMHO. That said, I do think if it's on your hotbar, it should work, even if you left it in a chest on another planet. :)
P.S. re 30:22: I think if it were up to me, I'd make a 3rd library section -- temporary blueprints, or something like that, which is where stuff goes that you've made but not placed elsewhere, and it's basically instead of your inventory... or even there's a section of inventory that's separate that's synonymous with that, and that doesn't have to be empty to go to space..... something. Agree it needs work.
omg i came here for demolisher hehe
Helmod 😮 I still don't get my head around it. Haven't found the good for me explain video. I use Factory planner a lot. But for pY Helmod is needed to get the recipies right?

Stone and stone bricks are directly interchangable, at the cost of electricity if you use foundries. To reclaim stone, use a Jaw crusher. In addition, bricks stack to 1000. I'm just starting to "rail-ify" my current py run ( researched logi but not started it yet ) and thinking about storage depots and how to store excess. Also just wondering what your plans are to extend your power, as a lot of new options are about to open up for you
I'd have suggested having 2 inserters, one set to only grab wood and one set to only grab flora if # number if wood is in the machine.
Heyy, i would really appreciate if u would post the save file of this world, would love to admire it myself and learn a lot from it, could u perhaps drop it?
Does this have the new pipe mechanics?
Yes!
This looks so good, but I have no idea why you need 4 smelters. I'm like 20 hours in game, got to Tier 4
Late to the series but thanks for the making a podcast! Its nice to have the ability to work and listen/learn more about the best game ever.
Great tips, thank you!
Thank you! 🎉
I wish the wired up entities had a read on one colour write to another. I had an inserter with filters controlled but I also wanted to read the contents of the hand and you just cannot do that without very complicated data processing logic
Oh you literally said that like 5 minutes later

I don't *think* the bioflux request is actually a bug. (Again, you probably know better now than when this episode was recorded). As at least *I* understood the system: The launchpad is already part of the logistics network. (So is the space platform hub). There is no need to transmit a signal via radar stations. All your chests know about the request by default (as long as you have "read orbital requests" set). The main issue, as you have already discovered, was that there was not enough bioflux to fill the rocket. (Which was implemented to avoid wasting them.) Allowing the boxes content to fill up to 1000 should also have solved it. But maybe I am wrong. If I am, please correct me.
Hi Krydax, in this episode you move research tasks around by using the arrow buttons. As I am from the future but haven't watched the later episodes, I don't know if you have since learned, that you can actually click-drag the tasks, which is *way* easier than using those arrows. (Maybe this functionality was added in a more recent patch, but I play FSA since before christmas now and I think, I always was able to do so.)
Yeah, it was changed. The dragging functionality was added later :)
Oh ya, if you respond again, how do you change betterquesting to dark mode or what you have it?
I think it's just a mod setting. Can't remember!
Could you not just swap the pipeline and conveyor position so that the bend comes straight down and in, looking a lot cleaner?
In games like this I've always wanted to see like secret tactics. Like build your base in a certain grid design and get a hidden buff for it. For example placing five of the same turret in a V shape and they get a slight attack speed buff, or make a + sign shape for a defense buff. Just to add another layer of depth to the strategy and give some more variation in tactics, also to make building more interesting than spamming out as many as you can fit. Like being able to choose between getting slightly faster ship production if you make a hexagon out of them, or slightly cheaper if you make a 3x3 square out of them
Gleba is the best and the worst.
Thank you well done.
22:40 😮 love the new track laying process from the map!! If you aren’t picky, like in the early game, that is super handy.
one of the things that helped me was realizing that wood products don't have an ash by product. i reworked my smelter and early mining setups to run off of wood. lot of extra setup, a large wood processing facility by EVERY mining patch, and a coal patch in the distance entirely dediated to making carbon dioxide for the moss. the end result is i dont have any ash output even in the early game. the first time i played PY ash was always the thing that stopped the factory. Edit: this really didnt help right at the beginning, but once i got access to fastwood forestry, that changed.
1:33:09 is the word "segmented" by any chance?
it was "siloed", so not quite. But close!
@@Krydax8 haha, you were so close, at 1:32:03. ;)
1:02:52 - Haha, yes, @StuffMadeHere is fun times, for sure. :)
33:14 - it may be true that the ocean isn't water, but you can still put fish in it, and have them swim around. :D
51:30 - I'm just going to make sure to keep my interpretation of that to the in-game context having to do with asteroid collectors... because.... yeah. That said, I agree that grabbing everything rather than filtering is better (in this scenario, at least), because then you have some hope of getting more oxide chunks through re-processing the chunks that a filtering solution would just leave out there, un-grabbed.
It’s weird. I am happier than I should be that you enjoy Gleba so much! 😊
15:18 - FWIW, you can kinda fake this with the "any request is zero" thing... so like, "all requests satisfied OR (any request zero and 300 seconds passed)" or something like that. That does still give you the potential of leaving without any of a required item, but presumably your required items are producing fast enough to at least get some up before the timeout, and thus it works to skip optional stuff. Caveat: I think. :D
1:09:46 - FWIW, I did some frame by frame, and I'm 99% sure that the "blip" you saw, which I agree at faster speed kinda seemed like a lower stack size, was actually just a variation in the appearance, which I think is a thing they added in 2.0 for stuff in general, though it's more visible in some items (e.g. eggs or jellynuts) than others.
