Japanese City Pop would be the closest. Yacht Rock for Foreign ones. AOR for both. The closest this song reminds me is of Never Be The Same - Christopher Cross which is a Yacht Rock song.
@@KantonTimer Wow, great song! The piano at the beginning sounds very similar. It definitely could be AOR which is interesting because TK didn't really dip much into the genre. The album this song is from was recorded in LA, so there's definitely a very American sound to this song and the album in general.

Best Toshiki album! (And one of the best city pop albums up there with Timely! or For You). Lots of bass, horns, and the perfect mix of beach and tokyo nightlife. There isn't a more perfect city pop album that blends all the elements together like this.

He was seriously the king of city pop between On the City Shore and Sea is a Lady. I don't know how, but he dropped off hard after '87. Legacy of You is the only decent album after that.
