Alienshade Mesh Top Install and Review for Jeep Wranglers!
i have the brand new kit. it has the detachable back plate. '03 TJ rubicon, the lights are in, but i wasn't lucky. i have the EVAP canister, so had to pull all that apart. wired it up properly, and got Hyper-Flash. Hyper and i didn't even have to have the headlights on for it. worse with the headlights on. put in-line Resistor (supplied 25W 15Ohm) on Yellow lead, and it did NOTHING. so instead i installed it the way a Resistor is supposed to be by jumping the Flasher line with the Ground line, and everything worked, until i started hearing Arc'ing... Shut off the vehicle, and now i have a CEL with an error code on my dash.. pulled the stupid Resistor. installed Novita LM470 (5-pin), and it all worked. buttoned everything back up and now it's great, except i keep the CEL (in Aux/Acc mode). i'll look up the code later. easy swap turned into a minor project tbh. thx for your video, it all helped.
Ohh man!! Sounds like a great time lol. Glad our video helped and you got it all sorted! I have the Novita relay already in so thankfully I won't have to deal with that. Not looking forward to doing these on a 03+ Jeep haha. Just got lucky on my 02+
Awesome sound very good, not too loud, the way I like, I planning to buy a muffler because mine is straighted pipe, I wonder if the flowmaster 50 series or dynomax super turbo would sound similar to the original, because the original its much more expensive now.
This was the perfect amount of loud and the perfect tone. Either of those should get you close to stock sound from my experience with those mufflers. Thrush Turbo is cheap and close to stock sound as well
Does it drones inside?
Zero drone, it's too far back to drone 👌
Looks like you should’ve bought some quality seat covers. Installed heaters on old seats and then put new covers on.
Yeah probably would of been a better method for this vehicle but I wanted to try it since it was my first time. Thanks for watching!
Would I have to get adjustable rear sway bar end links or just the front?
Really depends on how low you're planning to go. If lower than 2.5" I would recommend getting a full set
Are the cargo lights and the reverse light bulbs all the same type/number?
Yes they are the same 👍
You are awesome!! Thank u!
You're welcome! We're happy to help
Is it only one setting for heat? On and off?
Those have Hi Lo and Off. High gets very hot
What size is the filter??
Sorry I Don't have a link but the pipe is 3.5" round so you would need a filter the same diameter. This one is spectre performance
Thanks bro. Im getting one for my optima too
@diegopenacamacho1884 welcome! It sounds so good 👍
Hey i only need the tube, the filter and zip ties??
If you're not doing anything with the waste gate then yes just the pipe, filter and ties
Right on the money. I got a quote for $750. Found your video bought the part for $45 and it took least than an hour for labor. Thank you!!!
Happy we could help! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the vid. Where did you get the replacement center section for a double DIN radio?
Thanks for watching! I actually cut the original one open and body worked it since I had everything to do it myself. Saved the $50. They have them on Amazon and eBay if you just search TJ double din
Great content thanks for the info 👍
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching
My mechanic wants to charge me $650 to do this. I’m going to try it myself thanks to this video. Thanks to you my kids can play soccer this season.
Thank you! We're glad this helped! It's very easy to do
What’s the weight of hitch?
It was probably about 40lbs at most. Wasn't bad at all
I have 150,000 on mine barely hangin on I wish you could help me work on it haha
Where do I get these ball joints what’s part number or link
Here you go! bdxperformance.com/products/ball-joint-for-yerf-dog-standard-duty
Hey just wanna let you know the reason your old chain marks didn’t line up with the phasers is because you would have to spin in hundreds of times to get it lined up. And for the timing chain losing tension when not in tdc is because the engine isn’t running so oil pressure is not putting tension on that chain. Great stuff tho man
Thank you!! Appreciate the tips 👍
Hi I own the same car would you hear a loud rattle inside engine on cold starts that would kinda go away? Also rattling when stepping on gas?
Could be a few things definitely get that checked out! Make sure your oil level is good. These cars are notorious for oil issues
I have the same car have spent $25,000 in parts and labor in 2yrs I’ve resorted to doing everything by myself at this point thanks this video is incredibly helpful
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
i cant find the BOV in my optima 2016 ex it not at the to like yours?
Possibly a different engine? This car is a 2011
that is my favorite color for the frontiers, I also have a pro-4x but in arctic blue
Thank you, I love the lava Red it looks orange in the sun and red at night. The artic blue is a great color as well!
Great video.
Thank you!
What is the size of the pipe and filter?
Did the Harbor Freight lights have a resistor installed? Once I hooked up the right taillights the turn signals flashes fast. Unhooked the right side and the left flashed normal. Reconnect and they both flash fast again.
Not that I'm aware of. I had the same issue and ended up swapping them out. I didn't have side marker lights hooked up at the time and once I put them back in and used halogen bulbs it solved my issues. I have the Novita LM470 Flasher relay as well
@@413BROS Thanks! I just ordered the relay. Thanks again.
@ChiefLilly71 you're welcome! Good luck! Just keep in mind 97-01 and 02-06 did have different relays. Newer models are LM470 and older models are EP27
Thanks for video. If u can show us how the low \ high beam on the road at night
I can do that! I'll take a video and post it this weekend! I absolutely love these lights! Very bright and a great cutoff
What seats are those?
Just the factory Yerfdog seats but you can buy the same ones on Jegs performance
@@413BROS that's what I thought but the jegs seats are too wide for any of the frames I have thank you for answering
@joshwaller6226 welcome! I would look at the actual yerfdog seats on marketplace or eBay. These are probably a little smaller
OK looks stellar! Now all you need to do is pop your mirrors on. I definitely want one of these. I LOVE those seat covers BTW! Now... I REALLY wanted to see the little alien guy they send..... That's an important part of the package dude! ✨👽✌ #OlllllllO
Hahaha thank you! The little alien lives on somewhere here at my house lol. The seat covers pay homage to my last Jeep I had the Baja seat pattern from the factory. The mesh top has been flawless!
I had a pair of these same headlights sold under the name HWSTAR from Amazon. My son in law bought them during the black Friday Amazon sale for me for an early Christmas gift. Neither one of the lights lasted 12 months before they started malfunctioning, because moisture got in them somehow. They do look good, and I did get compliments, but they should've lasted longer than they did.
That sucks to hear! We have a set each in our Jeeps for over a year now without issues. I hope they last we absolutely love them! I think when they do go I'll probably get the same ones again
@@413BROS Yeah... It's all about the quality control thing. Some folks can buy something, and it works perfectly for a while, while others have issues with the same thing almost from the start. It didn't used to be that way, but it is now, and there's really not anything anybody can do about it.
@jamesorsby7553 yeah very unfortunate! Damn country gone to shit lol
CORRECT COLOR MATCHES: Lamp Black to ground bolt Lamp Yellow to black and yellow Lamp Red to green/brown and red Lamp White to Purple and white Edit: These worked for my 04 LJ
Thank you for the info. Maybe I'll dig them out and see what happens when it warms up so I can correct the video 👍
@@413BROS yeah maybe give it a shot!
so i have a mk6 jetta also, on 19x19.5 rims on a +35 off set, and tires are 225/40/19, hopefully these tucks in the wheels more, looks aggressive and im gonna drop it about 2”, opinion on that?
You're 100% going to have to roll the fenders and possibly pull some with that aggressive of fitment but it will look good. I rubbed the front on hard cornering with untouched fenders and 18x8 et45 on 215/40r18
Hi mate, I have the 6 speed manual gear box with the lift and shift reverse gear. How can I make the shaft lower. Plz guide me
If you take off the shift knob and it's not threaded you should be able to copy what I did
Love the stance bruh does it scrape tho?
Thank you!! I honestly didn't scrape but I also knew how low I was and kept in mind the oil pans plastic lol. I rubbed more than anything else
I like the fact that you showed the struggle so we know what to do for real
Appreciate the feedback! No TH-cam magic here! We don't see the point in showing it "get done" without the issues we run into. Makes it more realistic
Anyone else have the issue where you had to drill the shock mount holes bigger. The factory bolt was like half the size of the bushing on the shock.
No issues with mine. Maybe they changed something along the way
Thank you for this video!! 😇🙏
You're welcome! Glad it could help
Any side effects after long use ?
Nope! This was honestly my favorite mod I did to the car besides the exhaust work. Made a big difference in comfort
Great video man! Covered alot of things i was wondering on these lights. Would you still recommend them?
Thank you! I definitely recommend them still I actually just put a set on my buddy's Jeep. I wouldn't normally spend the money on something like this so when I do I hold it to a certain standard and it far exceeds what I was expecting. It would be nice if they switched from yellow to white when I wanted but I really can't complain
good vid
Thank you!
All that work just to put in the wrong fluid! Toyota power steering system requires ATF fluid, says specifically do not use power steering fluid.
Still running like a dream! This is a winter beater really not too worried but thank you. I actually didn't know that lol
Too much work for me but I loved watching this video
Thank you! It's certainly a lot to take on
Would be better video if didn’t have music playing while your talking! Poor execution editing wise but at least I know I can do it now.
Thanks for the feedback. We lost the audio to the video so we just made due. It's been a very successful video for us. We also no longer use music. Glad this helped
They don’t look… THAT wide…… I am looking for something wider
These are wide AF 😂 they go into people's yards. Wider than this does not exist to my knowledge for DOT use. They have Taller which would be the SS3 PRO and MAX line
@@413BROSI think cop2506 is looking for something that shoots out to the ditch immediately like some oem fog lights. I wanted to get some of these but I think my Morimoto XB headlights do just as well lighting up the ditch lines.
@jamesyers1975 these definitely light up the ditches they're very wide. But it's hard to see everything in video. Planning on a retrofit of the headlights soon
Thanks for this review. I just got a set of these (same yellow DD Elite Series) a few days ago. They're not installed yet, but I know they are going to be awesome on our 2023 Subaru Forester. Wow! They do put out a lot of light, and your video shows that very well. I love how they show every little detail, contour and road hazard both on the road and alongside it. We get a ton of fog here, as well as rocks that have fallen on and along the highway, especially after heavy rains. The OEM white fogs that come stock on the Forester are worthless. What a difference these will make, can't wait to install them, I'll be one happy camper. They are pretty expensive, but it looks like they are worth every penny. Thanks again for making this video, enjoy your new fogs!
Thank you for the kind words! I typically would not spend this amount of money on something like this but I'm SO happy I did. At the end of the day safety is the most important aspect of driving 👍 living in New England we see pretty much everything when it comes to weather, you will not be disappointed!
You could have just removed the hose on the bov that goes to the intake and caped off the intake with a rubber plug or cap from autozone that fits n glue it with silicone or rtv sane result sound and volume for free if u have glue or silicone or something already the plug costed me a dollar u cab cover it with tape anything to just make sure nothing gets in.
Need some advice. Do you think this caliper can stop a 224cc?
I think it would be fine with a 224 as long as the tires arent a lot bigger. Definitely recommend replacing the rotor too mine is bent
I have one of the racing karts, and that's light weight, so it should work just fine
@413BROS also where can I get a bracket to buy? or is it easy to make one
Honestly I think you could easily fab one up to fit your application it's pretty basic
@413BROS how to mount it? Does the two bolts come out? And the bracket just will slide in?
Guys I need the replacement rubber seal that came with this kit. Cannot find it ???
I would email or call Rampage directly. Usually decent companies will help you out, let us know what happens! 👍
How did you get those 3 10mm bolts on for the passenger side? How did you access the bolts from behind?
I went up under the fender liner, a little tricky but not bad. This Jeep also has a little body lift so that may of made it a little easier
No one posts a newer tj 04-06 with the evap canister it's infuriating
I didn't know there was a difference in canister location. Tyler has a 04' LJ so the next time we get tail lights we'll install them on that and make a video 👍
Those fog lights are amazing!! Definitely im gonna buy those awesome fog lights! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching! I'm really happy with them and you can't beat the warranty either. I was hesitant on buying them due to the price but I'm glad I did. You will not be disappointed!
I installed thes and had same issues, no flashing when the running lights are on . Led flasher is installed . Has anybody found a soulution, regular led tailamps work fine. Is it the EMC technology they claim to have ?
These are garbage. I literally leave this video up to tell people that. I suggest returning them
I actually just fixed them. All needed to do was install small 194 bulb in Parallel with the turn signal lamp circuit at the tail light to make them flash properly with the running lights on. Alternatively you can use a led taillight balancing resistor, but these get quite hot. The bulb was a much easier fix.
That's great to hear! I didn't get too far into it with them but maybe this spring I'll try that out 👍
Super helpful. Thanks for the video. Made this a 10 minute project.
We're glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video brother, im gonna need once my replacement part gets here 🤙🤙
Thank you! Glad it will help you out! It was much easier than expected
