The reason this wasnt chosen was probably because it sounds better fit for a broadway play (Rock-Opera) Mitch i think would succeed doing Theater/stage production

I was about to say that “in the end Mitch fooled them all, since the German edition has the same tracks as the Japanese one”, but then I started thinking that maybe the song is hidden as an easter egg in the cd before the first track and that in order to listen to it you have to use the technique of rewinding backwards manually in a sound system with cd player using an original physical copy of the German edition. Which would make sense as the record label they belonged (RCA) had done the same thing a year earlier with Lit on their major debut album "A Place in the Sun" in which in order to listen a hidden intro that preceded the first track "Four" you had to do it using the technique I explained above, so that would perhaps help solve the mystery of why “Don't Believe The Hype” remains undiscovered to this day. But we won't know that until someone with the German physical copy checks it out for us and confirms whether or not it has the track on it.

Due to the noise of the crowd, the date of the audio definitely corresponds to May 27th at RFK Stadium, since although SR-71 played both days at the festival, your clarification in the description is correct that SR-71 was not part of the line-up for the 'Main Stage' on the 28th which Linkin Park played, but rather SR-71 played that day on the 'Street Stage', a smaller stage sponsored by 'Dr. Martens' located on the outskirt of the stadium in the parking lot. Fun fact: The 2001 edition of HFStival was the first since the festival's origins in the early 90s in which the event was held in two consecutive days instead of one, since the '99 edition had one day in spring and another in autumn.

This is the version included on the Japan-only 'Sonic Style EP', with drums recorded by John Allen when he was already the permanent drummer. Background: This is a version re-recorded in 2001 at the request of RCA to promote the band alongside Eve 6 and Lit in the Japanese music market, and later remastered to be included on the Tomorrow album as a bonus track, with slightly modified guitars and drums, and deeper bass, to give it a heavier sound to fit the final's sound mastering of the album. Fun fact: On the back cover of the EP, below the song title, it was advertised as a 'new version' and that the original version is on the debut album "Now You See Inside", so it was never a song track intended to promote an upcoming album by the band, which is reinforced by the fact that the release dates of the 'Sonic Style EP' and the 'Tomorrow' album are quite far apart. So in short it was only a promotional track recorded by the band exclusively for Japan, never a demo, unreleased version, or anything like that. I have the EP so I can confirm first hand everything mentioned above.

I fell off on pop punk so many years ago but this song is the culmination of the appeal that that whole genre had. It’s like a perfect pop song. The way he sings it live makes it sound grittier than the polished nature of pop punk albums. Also, apparently the singer became a prolific songwriter for a lot of pop songs. So obviously, he’s got a lot of talent. It’s hard for me to get into music like this, so when I do it’s a real treat.

Hey man, happy holidays, and thanks for uploading this gem! I remember the whole Grow discography being uploaded here to TH-cam but got removed some time ago. I think recently the entire album was reuploaded but it's still a mystery to me as to why it was deleted in the first place. Regardless, it's crazy to see "SR71" perform before they were, you know, actually SR71. I don't even think I was born yet when they were still HAT, making this one of the rare times I'm gonna be cliche and "wish I was born during (that) time".
