Just a note on this video. you should never have your cars second wheels off the floor using ramps. the non ramp wheels are supposed to be locked and " wheel chocked". I notice his truck bed is parallel and level to the floor. If the second wheels were on the ground it wouldn't be this way. Please use 4 jack stands if you want to lift up all 4 corners of a truck. tire ramps are for quick work and YOU SHOULD NEVER get under a car while it is on tire ramps. The car can shift and squash you if it rolls while tugging on bolts or transmissions
What brackets did you use for the links
So what we’re the after measurements? Did it stay around a 3 inch drop after installation? I’m looking to replace front end suspension as well and want to achieve a 3 inch drop and have been thinking about going with those control arms and stock spring like u mentioned. Would u say ride quality is better than the 3 inch drop coils?
When I was replacing Baker cable the plastic
Hey man great video, after a cam, afm, and vvt delete im having vac and evap issues, i was wondering hiw thus swap afected the vac and evap?
How does the engine top cover come off?
Is it plug and play ?
What size wrench is needed to take the screws out of the top of the ABS module?
Thanks
Does this affect lifter lubrication?
Why? You going drag racing? Not going to help horse power that much. Get MAF Throttle body from Jet or Holley.
I just found your channel and im a new sub How is the ride quality with these control arms? I have an 04 dropped 3" with cut stock springs and rides horribly Thanks. Great work by the way
The ride on these were fantastic especially with the coil overs. Good thing about going with a coil over is the length and ride can be tailored to fit your project. I have the Viking double adjustable coil overs so if you really needed to dial in the ride you had plenty of adjustability. I think even with a factory length spring and shock your ride quality would still be close to factory. I do believe there would be some clearance issues that could be corrected running a shorter tire with the factory spring and shock.
@@zerofactorx Awesome Thanks fot your response
Install looks good 👍🏼
Do you have part number to the driveshaft and crossmember bar
dirttrackfab.com/product/later-2000-2007-classic/. That’s what I had. This is his website so anything you need he will get you covered. Top notch product and he’s a hell of a guy as well
I had my 04 SSR instrument cluster replaced by US Speedo in Flint Mi. They tried replacing stepper motors. Chevrolet Dealer wanted to do the cluster repair. $1500 & have my SSR for 2 weeks. That lasted 200 miles & all the gauges pegged. Took it back to US Speedo & replaced the entire cluster under warranty. Two trips to Flint Mi from Toledo Ohio. $250 plus tax & gas to drive to Flint. Mi.
So the real question: What PS pump did you go with? One rated for the stock rack or one rated for the hydra boost? Now, 1 year later, how is it going? Assuming you kept the stock style lower pressure PS pump, is there degraded brake performance, similar, or better performance from stock Vac system? Otherwise if you opted for the high pressure PS pump paired with the hydraboost, how has the steering rack holding up?
I’m here for the response also.
The hydro pumps are black and regular are chrome he went with the hydro pump and used the original master cylinder
@@SSIntimy This answers nothing of my posted question. Pumps and boosters are all unique to application with differing operating pressures (and pressure reliefs) and flow rates. A stock GM steering rack likes about 800-1000psi pressure with a max flow of 2GPM. Most hydro-boost setups puled from junkyard trucks are from 3/4 & 1 tons and operate at 1400-1500 pressure range and vary in flow rate from 2.5 to 5gpm depending on the original application. So the question continues; what are the specs of the booster he used, what pump did he pair it with (application wise so we can determine the specs), and what kind of braking and steering performance was observed. This isn't a "throw parts from the local auto store at it" situation as that will simply yield good brakes and a blown rack or good steering and poor brakes at low rpm. Just because two pumps 'look' the same doesnt mean they are, and your cant infer the specs of the pump he used simply by looking at it. Also, the master has absolutely nothing to do with this situation.
How are the living so far?
What size drill bit was needed to drill the holes for the front bracket? Mine are on the way, but want to make sure I’m prepared! Thanks!
If I remember correctly it’s a 3/8 and grab a few because those leafs are hard to
😂 that’s what I figured, I got a couple sets of bits but I don’t want to mess up a set wasting them so I was gonna get a few extras. Thanks again
If your choosing to use the stock Dod valley cover with all the solenoid valves you need to know if a valve seal fails it’s bad news. These plugs work fine it’s the rest you need to worry about. Aftermarket valley cover has no oil passages and no worry for further problems. There are ways to block off the main oil passage from the oil pressure sending sensor but a bit tricky on the stock cover
I have a question, If you wouldn't mind responding, I put 1 of those valley covers with the o rings, thinking they would block off the towers, now I have low psi at the port in the back, would you say doing this would help my oil psi??
It could cause some low pressure issues. I ran a valley cover like that for a while and never had low pressure but I just didn’t like where the pressure was. Ultimately I did end up changing the oil pump and prv spring in the pump. That actually made a world of difference in my pressure.
How has it lasted with this engine im building a gen 4 5.3 and im worried they might blow out i plan to make over 1200whp and thinking i should tap and thread it instead have you had any issues ?
hey where are located i would like my gauge cluster for my ssr repaired and what is the cost for this job
Ive been looking at these since i need to replace my a arms. Wondering can you use the stock bolts
Yes you can I did
You should try some weight savings 😊
If you have the ability to tear it down and identify the problem, you should have built it yourself.
Will this make a difference since ur running a 6 pin instead of the 8pin tb? I only ask cuz I have 2 harnesses and pin colors r different at the foot pedal when comparing the 6 and 8 pin. Not sure if im making any sense.
Did you ever find out the pinning because it seems like i am getting some feedback with this pinning on my 8 pin harness
I saw where you said you replaced the shifter cable before. Can you tell me how you went about it. Mine won’t shift into 1 or 2 and I’m replacing the shifter slider you did a vicdeo of. Any help would be appreciated.
You have to dig into the console and fish out the old one and then get underneath the car and disconnect it from the transmission. There is a “u clip” that holds the shifter cable to the bracket. Make sure the truck is secure were it can’t roll away or over you. Pop it off of the shifter linkage. The new cable should have the body grommet on it as well. While you are do this also do the linkage upgrade with the simple engineering kit. After the cable is in place, place the shifter in neutral and also shift the trans in to neutral as well. There is some adjustment area on the shift cable at the Trans. Adjust it to where it is not binding with the shifter and the trans shift linkage. Lock it down and test it
Junk
Great info!
I don’t want to tare into a ‘87 Suzuki quadrunner that I got off marketplace I’ll probably break it
Is it a Elgin 1841P camshaft?
It’s actually a truckflow “branded” cam but yes it’s the 1841p
@@zerofactorxI put together a turbo 6.0 right now with same cam. I'm hoping it not to big. Sounds mean in your truck! What Converter are you running?
@@Slappyracecars it’s 3500 triple disc built here local in Oklahoma City. Had great luck with it so far.
If you're gonna tear it down, just get one from the junkyard. These are a dime a dozen
How did you know which wires go where? Were they the same color or did you do any testing of the wires? Im trying to adapt a nissan pedal to holley to gm throttle body.
Dug into a wiring diagram
Do you have a part number for the pressure line from hydroboost to steering rack? Is it the same on as a 2500 truck would use?
It’s a factory line and I would believe it’s the same as the 2500. I did have to cut the end off the line and use the other factory line end.
Just looking at the cooler line location will tell you alot
This work with Dominator as well?
Can’t say for certain but the way holleys programming is id assume that if term x max can then dom can as well. As long as it sees the appropriate voltage/resistance
is the screen included with it?
Lol unfortunately it is not. This is just an adapter to hold the screen in the factory location.
where’d you purchase the jumper parts?
Hey brother i got this kit and when i installed it and dropped the truck down my sway bar end links just bent and eventually snapped off any ideas on how to fix ??
So I just went and looked at my front end. From the bottom mounting of the sway bar (not the bushings on the end links) to the mount of the lower control arm for the end link I have approximately 2.5 inches. I also have this distance from the tie rod to the sway bar it’s self. My sway bar is above the tie rod. My truck is also rack and pinion steering vs conventional drag link. I’m not sure if there is a difference between the two. I’m also about a 3in drop with the coil overs. I would try out a longer end link assembly. To gain some clearance.
Okay man thank you for the reply ill try it out thanks again
I purchased a pull online from a reputable reseller salvage yard, had a local shop put in a front seal, axle seals. I changed the old filter, put in new fluid. It worked better than the transmission in the car that I purchased some years earlier. Matched up the year, make, model of the Buick I had. No guesswork, and the $1000 I spent was far cheaper than a rebuild. Ebay would have gotten a complaint and refunded my money if it didn't work 'out of the box'. The only requirement was to prove I did a cooler flush.
Where’d you get it?
@@thomasbedford1692 Ebay store, Snyder Certified Auto Parts, out of TX. My guess it was a Texas car, as the housing exterior looked really clean, not like the stuff I pull here in the rust belt.
Did you get the shifter bolt from the forum?
I believe so. The owner supplied it. I believe it was from dictator
Yeah no. How about specifically buy what you need and check the serial number
How these holding up man looking at the kit on ebay
So far so good. I haven’t had any issues with them yet
Has anybody used a restrictor for running this on a 2wd steering rack? I blew out my steering and gained a death wobble Thanks for posting!
How many hours did you have on this build?
I just picked up a 4l80 to build.
I did the same thing to my shifter. What a piss, poor design GM did.
I’m looking for that to be discounted. Have anyone or someone out there seen this go on sale? Others wise it looks like the one to get.
On sale if you have an ict membership Labor Day week end 2024. Snagged one for $299.
Happy to see a new video on the truck 👍🏻
Good Video !!
