However, I suggest that during the 900 year Islamic occupation of Jerusalem, there was relative calm between interest groups because of Imperial and military control over non Arab, non Islamic populations. 1. As soon as Arab political/social status changed in British Palestine, after the defeat of Turkey, violence against Jews began. 2. Prior peace was achieved by segregating the communities from each other into ethnic quarters. 3. Indigenous and immigrating Jews were not welcomed by Arabs as a political power in the land Jews had inhabited one or two thousand years at least before Arabs, and for over 3000 years by the 20th century. These were Jewish governed Judean lands.

This is the first time I've heard that suluk can be done alone without a sheikh or jama'ah. Couple that with the statement that most people of tariqa are delusional, which also I don't deny. But in today's world with its fitna, can it really be possible to go it alone? And with the minefield that is modern tariqa tasaawuf, can any path be practical these days?
