Follow me as I hike and ski in Scandinavian Nature 🚶♀️⛷
I live close to Oslo in Norway with my son and husband, and with my dog Rago who is a Siberian Husky 🐕
I also spend time Western Sweden where I hike and paddle on the lakes 🌊
In the summer our family hike and camp in the Norwegian mountains 🏔
I want to share my joy of being outdoors and my love of nature with you 😊

The second part of our super long hike, first part was last Friday's video. I hadn't planned on doing such a long hike this day, but as you saw in last week's video I got inspired to check out the other side of a little lake we had hiked to, and then I tried to find an old ski trail. I did actually find it, but lost it again 😄
In this video we fight clear cut (logged) areas, hunters and steep hills. Eventually we find a nice place with a bit of a view, before we end up on a gravel road that will take us back home. (I did not film the gravel road hike because it is boring to hike gravel roads in my opinion.) So a bit of a long video this time, but I hope you will stick with me to the end. I decided to not edit away too much of the footage, to give you a better feeling of the hike.

This lovely nature reserve has two small lakes, beautiful forest, lots of lovely white lichen, amazing views of the lake Lelången and a Bronze age burrow (that I for some reason call a fort in the video… 🤔).

I get up early-ish and paddle further out on our lake, through the first sound and to the next bay area (still not to the main part of the lake though). Watching your Huskies ears the entire time turning back towards you to hear your commands and movements to adjust its strides according to your sounds being made until it cannot see the area ahead then focuses its ears to the forward position to scan for danger till the coats is clear then back towards you! Always aware of its surroundings and potential needs of you both and what is expected! And of course, doing what a Husky loves most running in the cold and snow burning off that always present energy they always have and need to lose to be happy! Nice video thanks for sharing and making it with your fur baby!

@@scandinaviannaturediaries8892 I had one for over 14 years rescued him from a shelter he enriched my life like no other dog! Unfortunately, I had to put him to sleep in November the hardest thing I ever did! So, it is very satisfying to see someone making another Huskies life enriched and loving like I did mine! I hope you both have many more happy and loving years together! Enjoy it while you can!
Sad to hear that. The dog you see in this video is Rago. He is soon to be 12 and retired now. But we have a two year old too called Bamse. He is an incredible skijoring dog 😊 I haven’t made any videos with him though. We got him from a kennel when he was 8 months old.
@@scandinaviannaturediaries8892 Chad was about a year or just under a year old when I adopted him from a shelter, he spent 6 months there as a puppy no one wanted him it seems, till I came along that is and he rescued me as much as I did him! Every winter I let him pull the children in the area on a sled for a few hours a day when we had snow and he truly enjoyed it as much as the kids did! Taught him and the children the commands. At 9 years old I stopped him from doing it to make sure he did not end up with hip issues, but he never stopped looking at the sled and kind of asking to do it again over the years afterwords. But he was my boy, and I was his Daddy and II still morn his passing.

It starts at a place called Bislingen, and ends up at the lake Gjerdingen.

Hello Andreas😃 Thank you. No, we didn’t follow a trail here, but the name of two of the lakes in video 2 are Straumsfjorden and Hjellevatn. It’s a really fantastic area 🤩

So beautiful. Did it take very long to train your husky to skijor?
Not at all. He was bred to pull and run in front so it just came naturally to him. Already on our first trip he knew what to do and was very good 😊
