Hearing this was very providential for me: as someone who was lost in the schism/disobedience of so-called traditionalism and have only come to see it as an intellectual & spiritual cul-de-sac in the last week. I have much studying to do to form, by the grace of God, a proper conception of ecclesiology through humility and obedience.
I really loved the magicians nephew
Go Matt!
Hello everyone. I am enjoying the show. Who are you addressing ? Is there anyone else turned in?
Mr. Pinto, can we send a prayer request with you?
We'll be happy to pass along any prayer requests to Mr. Pinto! Please email us at thecatholictheologyshow@gmail.com. 🙂
So much of this book flew over my head the first time around. Gotta read the trilogy again! Especially relevant today when I was reading of that guy that's doing all these thing so that he'll never die, and claiming God doesn't exist but we're making our own "god" through super AI... if only they'd worry about working on their mind as well they'd know so many great stories about why, even if he could, living forever never ends well.
Where are the sacraments in the Bible?
@TheManofsorrows The New Testament explicitly speaks of Baptism, the Eucharist, and Anointing of the Sick. We have good theological reasons to think that Matrimony, Holy Orders, Reconciliation, and Confirmation are all suggested, though not explicitly. The Church has understood certain passages to refer to those Sacraments indirectly. She also holds that the Sacraments were all instituted directly by Christ, whether Scripture explicitly records it or not.
Yes that's right, worship me! I'm the most loving God. Worship me or suffer for eternity in hell, but I love you.... 😂
You could look at it that way. But you could also see it as God saying, “Hey, as your creator I want you to experience all of the good things that I experience and I am, and I invite you to say yes, but I won’t force you to. I love you enough to let you remain free.”
Yahshua says to not do vain repetition.
😂 They can't repeat. Apo 4:7-9 8And the four living things, each of them with six wings, were full of eyes all around and inside, and day and night they did not cease to say: They don't believe in purgatory 1 Corinthians 3:15 If the work of one is consumed by fire, he will suffer loss; however, he will be saved, although as well as by fire. But if the work of someone was. AND NOTHING GOES TO THE SKY INPURE AND PARADONDA BAN AIR🤔APOCALYPSE 21:27 And nothing unclean will never enter into it, nor the one who practices abomination and lies, but only those whose names are written in the book of life.
Thou shalt not use "vain" in vain

Just to point out, and I'm sure you know Michael, there are lots of Aramaic words Jesus uses in the NT. EG "Bar" for "son", "elaha" for God, ephphata, "lema sabaxthani" "why have you forsaken me"... and others.

Beautiful 😢❤️🙏🏻
Hi Mr. Micheal .. I love the way you talk to your host.. and the decor is so cool with those pictures you have hanging on the wall.. good luck on the show❤
Thank you. I think that this book is a great book and prophetic. I must admit I find it increasingly painful to read because it seems so true to our times. One of the insights of the book that I find amazingly insightful is Lewis’s understanding of manipulative speech within an academic setting. This is something I have struggled with during my academic career. The only way I have been able to resist it is by avoiding, for the most part, the places where it is most likely to occur.
YESHUA EMMANUEL BON YUSEF 🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Greetings from New Zealand. Thank you for bringing Immaculee's inspiring story to the world again.
Just call them" protestants." Don't call them non-catholic. Use the phrase "Christians and Protestants".
i don't believe terms 'catholic' & 'Christian' are synonymous. i believe Bible proves the contrary, Sir.
This was a great conversation! I remember when I was a Protestant speaking with a priest and asking him why we should study Scripture. He said, “If you don’t know the Scriptures, you meet a stranger in the Eucharist.” Hit me like a ton of bricks.
i believe the Scriptures clearly prove catholicism is not Christianity since it actually mandates sin.
@ could you provide some more information on how?
@@AcrosstheCanon sure friend! Bible shows us sin = transgression of God's law -- 1 John 3:4 notice: Ex 20:4-6, they still make & bow to statue, idols & body parts. Ex 20:8-11, they are a day late, pretending the 1st day is the Lord's day, while Scripture is clear that it will forever be the 7th day Sabbath. there's much more, but i hope this helps.
@ thanks for responding! Two quick clarifying questions: 1- are you suggesting that all who worship on Sunday are not Christians? 2- if this intellectual concern could be satisfied, would you be open to becoming Catholic?
@@AcrosstheCanon you as well, friend. we are, after all, only doing the Christian thing and trying to take as many as possible with us to Heaven! 1 -- no. Christians actually do worship 24/7 -- however, Scripture shows us that One day was sanctified, blessed, made Holy, for church and communion with other Christians -- Exodus 20:8-11, the 7th day Sabbath, the Lord's day. 2 -- i was catholic 35 yrs, friend. aside from this overwhelmingly clear dichotomy, there are an overabundance of proofs from Scripture that pit this system against what Christianity was originally intended to be. however, i am well able to discuss many other topics of serious concern that (i pray) would make you think about how much catholicism is in contradiction to God's Word. (example: 'hell' -- which the catholic teaching makes our Creator the most vile, disgusting & evil entity to ever be imagined) -- if we believe the catholic concept of it.
Dear Michael, I see you sometimes interview Catholic authors on your show. I am one myself and am very keen on trying to broaden awareness of my works to Catholic audiences. I could talk about my experiences crafting historical fiction narratives with deeply Catholic themes, and exploring Catholic belief through storytelling. What say you?
Thank you! Your message was passed along to Dr. Dauphinais.
We are currently booked for the next several months, but you are welcome to send some of your materials to our CTS inbox, thecatholictheologyshow@gmail.com. Thank you for your interest!
thank you so much for that splendid conversation! When will Dr. Harmons Book be published?
Thank you! We are not sure at the moment, but when we hear news of it, we will share! 🙂
Amen
Dr. Dale Allison thinks it is rational to *not believe* the resurrection accounts in the gospels and rational *to believe* the resurrection accounts in the gospels. I'm wondering how a God can consign anyone to hell if the resurrection evidence is not clear.
We appreciate your engagement. Perhaps this article may be of some help in explaining why the Church teaches what she does: www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/the-reliability-of-the-gospels God bless you
@@TheCatholicTheologyShow I missed this reply. I read the article you offered. In the article there were many scholars cited, but none of them were historians that conclude that the *new testament is not reliable.* *Is that honest?* *Is that scholarly?* Dr. Craig Blomberg is cited in the article. Dr. Blomberg is a *Protestant not a Catholic*, so Catholics think he is *right in his thinking on Jesus, but wrong about which denomination is correct.* The article you gave me showed half the information, Muslim scholars, Jewish scholars, unbelieving scholars also matter. There is a question thinking Christians might want to think about--If you follow a God of truth, a God who loves the truth, why can this God not clearly deliver His truth: about the correct denomination, or that Schleiermacher and the thousands of liberal theologians are wrong or that Bart Erhman is wrong. Do I need to be smarter than liberal theologians, critical scholars, Jewish scholars and Muslim scholars to see the truth? Or is this just human religion no Holy Spirit guiding it? Why would the God of truth even make humans *so bad* at logic? If these unbelieving scholars just want to sin, why is a good God making humans, who are scholars, who know they are wrong and will suffer forever for it, but choose to be wrong anyway. I would never give birth to child I know would *choose hell*, but God would?
Dr. Ehrman has responses to story of the "man whose sins are forgiven", I think Ehrman conclusion, hastily summed up, is that the writer of "Mark" thought the Messiah was a man, chosen by God to free Israel and he *could forgive sins, by God's authority.* In other words, a human messiah can forgive sins. As for "John's" "I am" statements: since it is the latest gospel chronologically, and Jesus has a different speaking style and for many other scholarly reasons there is *no reason to believe Jesus said this.*
C.S. Lewis' opinion that the gospels don't read like legend is duly noted--but he would have to write a scholarly article that passes peer review and convinces the majority of scholars in the field (new testament scholars), that's how careful academic study works. Lewis' thoughts alone are not enough.
Oh no, is the story of the woman caught in adultery, not an anonymous *addition*, that could be a legend?
Christianity better be true, if not, what would all these fine folks do instead, to make a living? I wonder why Muslim Phd's living in the U.S.: scholars, doctors, professors, for some reason they can't see their religion is false. Surely, they don't *know* their religion is false and choose to go to hell. If an educated human is capable of being wrong about Islam, I think Christian professors might be wrong too.
Father Blake is very missed at our church in Lakeland, Florida! He has su h a knowledge of every lasting love for Mary and Jesus. This is a priest we should follow up to see him become Bishop.
Love this podcast. Very inspirational. All should watch!
Thank you for the feedback!
Loved this book and this series! Seeing confession (and the other sacraments) unfold across the entirety of Scripture is beautiful.

40:30 - ok are we talking about the demons now, or the advertisers?
🤝
Catholics go late to mass when every part of the MASS is very important. The MASS starts with the entrance song and then the priest says something about RECALLING your sins(venial) and then the next sequence is ASKING for God's MERCY/ PENANCE( happens within the first 3 minutes of the MASS). Catholics ignore the first part of the Mass by being late which is not good for the soul because you have not recalled your sins that week in the MASS which should have been forgiven at that special SUNDAY MASS( now that I am an older Catholic), I realize how short the MASS is but it is completely PACKED with GRACES from GOD. After the Recollection of sins then the READINGS of the BIBLE(what are the messages of GOD that day). Then the HOMILY, OFFERING and then The CONSECRATION PRAYER( turning of the bread INTO the BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST= BEAUTIFUL PRAYERS, recounting how we have the MASS now , ULTIMATE gift of JESUS to humanity to make it to the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. Then the consummation of the BODY and BLOOD of Christ which IS THE FOOD AND DRINK OF OUR SOUL as we pilgrimage on earth.
Very interesting, thank you!
"Dear Olorin is a metaphor for Jesus. Before being sent by Manwë (or, more accurately, by Eru Ilúvatar) to Middle-earth to aid the Free Peoples against Sauron (the equivalent of the devil in this universe), Olorin was the name of the hero you probably know as Gandalf. There is even a moment when Gandalf asks to be spared from the hard task but accepts it. He walked among every Free Folk of Middle-earth and was known as Mithrandir by the Elves, which means the Grey Pilgrim, Tharkûn by the Dwarves, and Incánus by Men. He was loved by all who loved the truth. There are many biblical references in Tolkien's universe."
But Gandalf does not always represent Christ like Aslan does in all the Narnia books. Sometimes he represents a guardian angel or a prophet and sometimes other characters would represent Christ like Aragorn or Frodo. What each Tolkien character symbolized depends on the context you are speaking about them and the particular events that are happening in the story. That is why I find lotr far superior to Narnia. Narnia's symbols were fixed and rigid while Tolkien's symbols and representation of Catholic truths were more flexible and changing as the story progressed.
