IN MY GARAGE with Ken M
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 ต.ค. 2012
Mostly car stuff but some hikes and motorcycle rides will be added. I do a lot of home auto work and modifications. The 67 Mustang that my mother-in-law named the Nightmare is the primary target of the modifications but sometimes you may see a friends car involved as well. The 67 is fully modified from the ground up using mostly parts from other year mustangs and fords. I have started to take it to the autocross as well. Tons of horsepower and slippery tires makes for fun times.

The ACES coil and a bracket to hold it.
The ACES Kill shot is leaving me stranded. So we are trying their coil to see if that was the issue. To do so I have to build a bracket to mount it in the position needed. Does the new coil fix the issue or can we bet on ACES to leave me stranded, again. You will have to wait and see.

THE MUSTANG GETS A BRAKE
มุมมอง 115วันที่ผ่านมา
The Nightmare mustang needs some love so it gets a new brake master cylinder and then we take the mustang on a test drive. I also take a little time to go over the 1967 mustang and show you some of the highlights. I did leave out the 6 speed gear box and hydraulic clutch which is pretty cool. Also that the motor has a big roller cam, lifters, and rockers. A gear drive. Full oil control with cra...
The 1946 FORD GETS HITCHED
มุมมอง 13214 วันที่ผ่านมา
It's time for this 1946 Ford truck to really be a truck so now it is getting a trailer hitch. They don't make hitches that just bolt on so I am taking a used hitch (in keeping with the low budget theme) and making it work. What seems like a simple project really became a chore.
SPARK PLUG WIRES DONE RIGHT
มุมมอง 15521 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hey everyone, want your spark plug wires to look good and last? I go over how to lay out your wires starting with distributor placement. Does it matter where your number one terminal is??? If you know the distributor rotation you can make the sparkplug wires look and lay awesome.
Mini Skid Plates
มุมมอง 27121 วันที่ผ่านมา
The 1946 Ford Truck has some low hanging fuel fittings that need protection. What better way to do it then welding in some skid plates. I can't bend 1/4" plate by hand so I had to choose among the things in my garage. I got it done and am pretty happy with my mini skid plates.
ACES Killshot Timing
มุมมอง 1.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
It is time to let the ACES Killshot EFI try to control the timing. The directions are a bit confusing and I hope I did not make it worse. The table I create is very basic and based on my 351C which is significantly different than your engine. It does not take into account a vacuum advance or other factors that may effect your systems. The Maximum Brake Torque (MBT) table is the one we will be u...
FUEL PUMP IS PUMPING WIND
มุมมอง 131หลายเดือนก่อน
The Mechanical Fuel pump on the 1946 Ford Truck is pumping nothing but air since I installed a EFI system with electric high pressure pumps. Today we remove the Mechanical Fuel Pump and build a no cost block-off plate. Parts for the 351 Cleveland are expensive and if I can make one, I'm going to do that. Follow along and you will be able to get it done for your project no matter what make it is.
HEATER CORE LEAKS!!!
มุมมอง 87หลายเดือนก่อน
The 1946 Ford Truck heater core has sprung a leak. Fogged up the windshield so bad I could not see anything. Time to remove and repair it. They don't make one anymore and I can't yet afford a AC/Heater conversion so we fix it the old fashion way.
ACES IS ALIVE
มุมมอง 167หลายเดือนก่อน
The Aces Killshot system has finally come alive. My 1949 Ford Truck is finally running with EFI. I'll show you some of the problems I had and a bit of tunning to try and make it better. Where do we go next with this? Maybe we get the Killshot to control the timing.
Wiring and First Start?
มุมมอง 139หลายเดือนก่อน
I get the ACES Killshot wiring complete. Not without some issues and hiccups though. The manual and the handheld don't agree on some things and starting this Killshot becomes a challenge. Can we make it work on a 1946 ford truck with a early 70's motor? Stick around and find out.
FUEL SYSTEM FUN
มุมมอง 692 หลายเดือนก่อน
ACES Killshot is getting fuel lines run. I have dual tanks so that makes it twice as fun. EFI takes a feed and return line so twice as much fuel line as well. This is getting spendy.
ACES TIMING
มุมมอง 7202 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you use a ACES Killshot to control you timing, you have to build a timing table in the software on your laptop. I show you how to do it. This is very basic stuff, no vacuum advance was taken into consideration. You timing will be significantly different than what you see here. Do not copy this table as it was built for demonstration purposes only. Build your own table and it will be good eno...

Did you leave it hooked to the car when you did the timing table? I tried this last night in my house and the was no values in the left and bottom collums?
@geoffbillips30 When I built the timing table, I was at a desk x and y axis columns were already filled in. Timing should be in the vertical column and rpm in the horizontal. You might update to newer software if you haven't done so. I have not seen a table without the values.
@inmygarage_kenm thanks I'll try to update it this evening
My old man had the speakers mounted in the cab corners in his old gmc. Had provisions for radio in the dash though.
What about make a piece of dark wood to encapsulate the stereo in the glove box?! No messing up the original dash, or poking screw holes into the original interior. That way you have the stereo, and don’t sacrifice the originality of the vehicle!!!
Left side of the steering wheel, perfect placement.
I feel your frustration. These chinese tbi systems do work but they are so much more finicky and less "polished" then something from holley or edelbrock. Also it seems the instructions they gave you were quite a bit less than ideal. I would heed their warning of not using the pertronix with the aces, I know you put the resistor in-line but I know a few people who have had problems with the pertronix when using it in combination with other ignition components, since it uses a hall-effect sensor instead of a magnetic pickup. The signal that is generated is different between the two types of pickup. Hopefully the coil solves your problems. Good Luck!
@robr4662 I switched the distributor to a magnetic pickup one when I went to timing control because of the difference. Update, ignition still shut down two blocks from the house.
@@inmygarage_kenm dang, was betting on that. I'm starting to think maybe something is just defective. I hope you figure it out. That truck is too cool to sit inside.
Not bad for a gay that pulled hoses for a living.
Turned out Awesomea!
Far left side flat against the side of cab under dash maybe....
Very good explanation. Thank you!
Where do you go to get to this graph? Kill shot website?
@@pontiaco download the software from the ACES support site onto your laptop.
Mine starts misfiring and goes lean on the afr at 2800 up any suggestion
Thanks Ken
You are very welcome
I’m having issues with it too from directions. I’m new too first engine. Aces told me to stab dist at zero, then unlock and then timing light engine at 15 btc and lock. Ran for 20 min to break in cam, now wont start. Think my timing is wrong
@cwick72 that is incorrect. When you are timing your engine to 15 degrees with the timing light, the software should be set to "lock". Unlock after you have set your timing.
@@cwick72 did you lock out the advance in the distributor? There are many videos about how to do that.
I feel for you . There is nothing about an FE mustang thats easy accept dropping a few grand....
What does MBT mean? Nice video - thanks.

What distributor did you use im about to install the killshot I really enjoyed your videos on the install I didn't order the distributor with mine I thought it was alittle expensive i dont know why you haven't got more views but everyone with the killshot should be watching
@timcraighead996 I am using a Allstar magnetic pickup distributor. It is well machined and had the correct gear for my camshaft.
Thanks for this video , this is exactly what i needed to see .
i just put a killshot on my mustang, runs pretty good out of the box but it definitely needs to be tweaked but i'm happy with it so far
Glad to hear its working good. Remember to save your tune before you change anything.
@@inmygarage_kenmfor sure, I'm teaching myself this stuff so I need a backup for if (when lol) I make mistakes.
Nice
I needed this thanks man!
Thank you. Only video I needed
Next PID says "TPS acceleration enrich" ... This should be where you increase fuel under acceleration
Thank you. I think you will find that it says TPS Acceleration Enrich vs ECT%. So yes you could use this to help with the issue based on engine coolant temp but this is just a percentage increase or decrease of the other table (or so I am lead to believe).
@inmygarage_kenm Ah! I couldn't see the ECT mentioned, but I'm certain that you are correct
Ordering my Mustang soon, but my old Mechanic shop closed, and am looking for a new Shop to handle all the mods I want to install. I live in the Redmond, WA area if anyone knows a good and well reputable shop. Thanks. By the way the car show looked fantastic, what a beautiful day with great cars,
is this a new mustang that you are ordering? And, what mods are you installing?
@@inmygarage_kenm It will be a Brand New 2025 Mustang GT premium. Mods I want to do are Kooks Headers, Steeda H pipe, lowering springs and shocks and maybe installing some Aesthetic pieces from RTR for starters. I had a modified 2013 GT but sold some years back and the shop I used to go to in Kent is no longer there. Thanks again for any info you might have and share. Looking forward in getting back int to the American Muscle car family again. My friend is also getting a Dode Challenger newer and again looking for a good shop. Cheers, and have a great Thanksgiving.
Badass truck....
finally someone making sense, previous ten videos guys cutting the gasket assuming they are so smart they can tell people how to do it 😀😀 ..damn internet
Nice vid, but I can't help but wonder how long you'll put up with it before you yank that thumper cam out. I've always hated those things!
It will be coming out when I re-spray the front grill next spring, or maybe in the fall of 2025 if I can stand it that long.
Nice video! Would you recommend 400 grit sanding over sandblasting? Getting ready to powder coat a bunch of Harley chrome. Have powder coated quite a bit of steel but no chrome… thx!
400 grit would be fine. Sandblasting is also good. Powder will easily fill 400 grit scratches. Just don't skimp on the powder coat.
Thanks. Helped me a lot.
Was great to view the video before I replace original battery before it has issues. I'm original owner of my 14 CC tequila gold w/flames 3400 miles mint condition.
@@steve2013UPS I'm glad it helped. I'll bet that bike is beautiful.
Great Video! I love the ingenuity of stacking oven's for powder coating! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Pretty dog gone cool Man!
Doesn't look like a rat rod😅
It is not really. It does have some of the attributes though. Rear fenders out of 55 gallon barrels, transfer case shifter is a old drill handle. Kegs for tanks held on with large chain, that sort of thing.
What is that?
1946 Ford 2 ton truck, shortened, modern 4 wheel drive axles and transfer case, 351C engine, AOD trans.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I thought James Hetfield was teaching me about tools at first 😂
The only thing wrong are the numbers
Sir! probably some of the best advise ever.
Anyone with a half a brain can choose which drill bit is needed just by looking. It’s not hard
Dude .... 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Except through holes are supposed to be 1/16" larger than the fasteners.
Dang did not have getting schooled about drilling holes by James Hetfield on my 2024 bingo card
Do you play guitar, by chance?
I learned that if you need to tap a hole for a bolt you can match the diameter without the thread, (the inner diameter) to the end of a drillbit to see if they're the same size, then you can drill and tap the hole for a good fit, I didn't know of this method for holes. Great content, I learned something ❤
Good concept but some bits step down(or up) from where they are held(chuck) to the bit diameter.
@@fixerupperer yeah, doesn't work with those for sure if you use the back of it, but I usually use the cutting end anyway. Good to share this, thank you for adding that
Thought you were James Hatfield at the beginning
Heard that before.
Great video 👍 Thanks 👍👍
I'm planning to go there ,something this year ,can't wait.
@mariemapp4636 it is great if you're not expecting a highend luxury kind of place. Much more low-key relaxation.
Not sure if youll see this but THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for this video! Literally saved me $1,000! I didnt even break any clips. Getting that light situated back correctly was the hardest part! Also if anyone else comes to this video in need...you can get a Trim Removal tool set at O'rielly's for $15 (as of June 2024 in Texas) Thanks again man.
