I miss this place. Not only did I learn to ski there in the late 60s, I worked there from 1978-82. So many great memories. From riding school busses there to ski to skiing Freestyle competitions in the late 70s-early 80s. sneaking on to closed runs at night in a snowstorm for powder in the dark. That was the ultimate powder experience. I remember just after Christmas in 1979 when I was an Asst. Lodge Manager and had to sleep on a cot in the office because I closed one night then open the next morning. That night Ias I watched the groomers work from the office the temp was minus 28 Fahrenheit and the wind chill was minus 110 Fahrenheit. Eldora will always have my heart.

I miss this place.

Only jibbing at Eldora... guess no old bearded guys were shredding Corona bowl all winter. Hmmm

This season recap would be a lot better if it included eldora’s ski patrol union being recognized. Eldora’s ski patrol won their vote to unionize by a landslide, and eldora and powdr are challenging it. They have not invited the ski patrol organizers back to patrol next year, and have spent so much money on contesting and advertising against the union. The ski patrol currently doesn’t make overtime until 56 hours in a week, and doesn’t have enough bathrooms on mountain. They are deleting/hiding comments on instagram, and probably will delete this one as well.

I just found this channel. I learned to ski at Eldora in the early years of it's existence. I also worked at Eldora in 77-82. First in the lodge where I became the Asst. Lodge Mgr. in the 78-79 season and taught in the Ski School 81-82. I also skied on the Freestyle Team 77-78. The resort has evolved so much it's a completely different resort now. so many memories from the T-bars to the Corona lift swaying in the wind and hoping I didn't get blown off. Two of mt favorited were an end of season Clam bake at the top of the Corona lift and Powder in the dark. Skiing the unlighted runs in a snowstorm. I look forward to more videos.

1981-83…Used to ride with my brother on the RTD from downtown Boulder at 0700. Moms would drop us off. Cannonball opened at 0830…we’d stop for a quick game of Frogger in the lodge, a ham sandwich from home, and turn out the lights at 2100, then ride back home, fully cooked. So many stashes off the map. So many memories. So thankful for this place. In all my years, never heard it referenced as Eldo. Eldo is where you climb, kids. But, whatever.

I learned to ski at Eldora back in the 60's. My parents were ski instructors there. Since it's where I started out, I had nothing to compare it with and didn't know that wind-free skiing was actually an option. So, we didn't mind too much. There used to be an Alpenhorn above the bar in the original lodge that would get taken down every once in a while and we kids would try to blow it. Never got more than a feeble bleat from it. Later, when I was in high school, we use to take a bus up there and go night skiing. Good times indeed.
