She's a brilliant singer, but she sometimes treats the lyrics like they were just pre-arranged scat syllables. This song works musically at this tempo very well. The lyrics don't. The whole emotive feel of the song, as song, is lost.

Never heard anyone else sing it this fast. Great voice, great delivery, but if this song was mean to be sung this way, with scatting, Anita O'Day would have sung it like that, since she sang in that style better than anyone. She sang it slowly, with griefstricken rapture, like she was having some kind of fever dream. It was worth trying. But this one to savor. Slowly.
