Shark's Nose - Upper Cove - Mourne Rock Climbs
A recent day of exploring crags with Jonny Parr. We took in some of the old school rock climbs including Fourth Corner at Lower Cove, a Diff climbed back in 1956 and then continued on up to Upper Cove where Jonny soloed Shark's Nose, another Diff soloed back in 1939 by Charlie Brims. This is one of the earliest recorded climbs in the Mournes. Our journey took us over the summit of Cove Mountain and off to an unclimbed crag with quirky features but the rock quality was a let down. We returned to Lower cove and finished the day with First Corner, a Hard Severe which is a popular climb guarded by a spider!

A Close Call - Scary Rock Climbing Fall in Norway
มุมมอง 2.4Kปีที่แล้ว
A small clip taken from one of my Lofoten episodes 'Failing to Succeed' showing a scary rock climbing fall that I took! I broke a piece of gear, went upside down and hit my belayer's hands with my head. Just as well he held the ropes! I was on the wrong line. This footage was from back in 2015
A Fleeting Glimpse - Slieve Bearnagh - Mournes
มุมมอง 510ปีที่แล้ว
Ricky Bell quests up Slieve Bearnagh, one stunning October day in the Mountains of Mourne. It's a magical place where the sky shapes the granite Tors with its ever changing atmosphere and mix of raw elements. A place of captivating presence shared with the only permanent residents, the Ravens. But we rock climbers are more like the passing clouds that come and go but often like to linger!
White Walls Arête - Spellack - Mourne Rock Climbs
มุมมอง 332ปีที่แล้ว
Possible first ascent? Who knows. I abseiled it first, cleaning some of the upper cracks and checking for anything loose before deciding to solo it. It makes for an airy and much bolder alternative finish to the classic White Walls. It is similar in technical grade but has a defined crux moving through the overlap at the start but there is much less protection. Climbed on the 25th June 2018.

Operation Phone Recovery - Lofoten Diaries

Rock climbing lesson - A Classic - Lofoten Diaries! This short film is a reminder that happy endings should not be taken for granted. This type of scenario can go horribly wrong, especially with a group climbing below, never mind losing your phone & contacts. Phew!
Onwards & Upwards - Mourne Rock Climbs - Blue Lough Buttress

Exploring and filming new rock climbs in the Mountains of Mourne, N Ireland. Ricky Bell and myself (Craig Hiller) made several trips during different seasons to explore the lesser visited southern end of the Blue Lough Buttress. This extensive crag is located on the northern end of the Binnian Plateau situated between the zig-zagged Binnian Lough River and northwards close to Buzzard's Roost. T...

Wild Atlantic Dreams - Donegal Rock Climbs
มุมมอง 210ปีที่แล้ว
In the Summer of 2013 & 2014 a group of rock climbers made the journey to Owey Island situated not far from the Donegal coast in Ireland. The mission was to develop and expand on the exploration of the previous visits made by mainly local climbers from the Donegal mainland. This film is the culmination of both summer trips mentioned above.
