SCAMP Sailboat Capsize, Turtle and Recovery
I intentionally turtled my SCAMP, Samwise, to see what it would take to recover it, how much time I would spend in the water and how impacted the boat would be by the time spent upside down. Many lessons were learned and I only wish that I had done this test earlier.

Sailing SF Pelican "R2" on Lake Washington

I love sailing R2 in the winter out on Lake Washington. The power boats and jet skis are gone until next summer and the wind is more reliable. What a great way to start the new year.

TS IS SO FREAKING TOUGH 💀💀💀💀🔥🔥🔥🔥🗿🗿🗿🗿
Great job on the videos, watched all the scamp ones. Lots of lessons learned and shared. Thank you.
Conclusion: a sailboat needs a keel. I know, just a personal opinion.
You need an eyelet and short string on the bottom of your centerboard! This is very common on SCAMPs. Thanks for the video.
Very cool demo!
Real testament to the SCAMP design (and your construction of course) how difficult it was to tip over, and how easy it was to right it! I think my little dyer dhow was harder to right, even standing on the daggerboard
This is how you do it lol! I miss sailing so much!
Oh, the cushions get wet.....😁🙃😜
Madness….. 🤪 Conditions - Skill - Boat - Gear- We have all been There 😂😂😂 👍🏴😎
Yee haw! Looks like a wild ride
Fun stuff.
Love that sail Reef
What an adorable situation…
Wow!
great sailing,,, this is boat sailing,,, great adventure sir,,, god bless more power, from southern Philippines, home of the ancient pacific proa sailors, hope to see more of this,,, brings back good old memories,,,
Good seamanship
Wind against tide I guess?
Such a tiny boat in those conditions - very impressive.
Incrível a valentia do barco e da tripulação!! 30-35 nós?
I'm guessing that's 30-35knots of wind, based on the sea state. Tough little boat, driven by a competent skipper.
Hope you took your dramamine!
Impressive performance by boat and captian....nice work.
Wow! That is excellent seamanship in the little SCAMP. Well done! I have one too. It is amazing how well designed the boat is by John Welsford that with a good captain she can take so much weather. Remarkable.
Hello my sailing friend, it would be a great pleasure for me to see more of you sailing with the Scamp. Greetings from Germany!
Nice video visually, but it would have been great if you had included just some basic info. Which Pelican 12’, 16’, 18’, ? Winter sailing in Washington Lake…Which Washington Lake? Which State? There are literally thousands of Washington Lakes!
It literally says “SF Pelican”, that IS the 12’ boat. The other lengths have different names if you’d taken the time to look. And it ALSO says, “Lake Washington”. And if I’m not mistaken (I’m not) there is only ONE Lake Washington in Washington. Pay attention next time before you fall off your high horse. 🤡
@@RustyKnorr Your correct on both boat/lake counts, my mistake. I will take a pause and check before writing next time, good point. Speaking horses, how is the air way up there on the one your riding? You know, I complimented your video on it visual content and I gave it a thumbs up, as well. Good Sailing
Thank you for this! It’s hard to find interior pictures of these cabins online, and I’ve been thinking about booking one for some time now.
Nice little cabin. We’ll probably go there this summer
Good Kid !
What engine do you have on that beauty? I'm restoring #25 right now. I'd love to get a motor for it.
It's a honda 2.3. I have the same on mine. @ryanostlerous
Love those Pelican's. Ever considered taking it to the Sea of Cortez and doing some camping and cruising?
Next time, flush the toilet.
