Many years ago when I was a kid, I knew the dangers of crossing tracks that’s probably because we was educated … people today don’t know how to cross the roads let alone railway tracks they’re always distracted by their phones. I think it’s time to show the aftermath. What happens when they get runover.

As a retired BRtrain driver, when ever there is yet another report of somebody getting hit by a train i always hope the driver is o.k. When will these idiots ever learn that the chances are the train will always win? Even driving under perfect conditions in a four carriage train, at 60 mph i would need a quarter mile to stop. Chances are if travelling at speed, by the time you spot somebody on the track, you have hit them, just enough time to hit the brakes, sound the horn and shut your eyes.

Are people in other countries just as stupid and it's just not being recorded (maybe not as much CCTV as in the UK?)? I wonder if it is it just not being recorded in other countries, or maybe if level crossings like this one only exist in the UK? Somehow pretty much all videos like these that are being shown to me are from the UK.

I just cannot believe that even in this day and age, people living near the railways are still behaving in such an utterly stupid manner at level crossings and if they do this, they almost certainly would do the same if living near a road or a motorway - such people should not be allowed out in public, because these people are on a a death wish and are actively trying to kill themselves and the penalties for this kind of thing clearly need to be much more severe - in all such cases as standard, mental health evaluations need to be carried out at the very least - it’s very clear that they were not slapped often enough and hard enough as children if they are doing this stuff in adulthood - they clearly need to “cop themselves on” as my Irish granny used to say

Since pedestrian IQ’s at this location seem rather low, it might behoove the rail line to install early warning lights or bells or auto gate locks. If safety measures are not in the budget, just stock up on Darwin Awards for the deceased dumbasses.

That is one dodgy crossing in the first place. No signals or warnings? Unless they are there but not obvious? It’s a half wits dream and a classic demonstration of Darwin’s theory.

I work right beside and have to regularly cross an unmanned level crossing with “diy” gates. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen pedestrians walk in front of trains whilst looking at their phones - often mothers with small children, even in pushchairs. I’m constantly thinking, “It’s only a matter of time” 😢
