Vermont Rocky Meadow Farm

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 ธ.ค. 2017
Vermont Rocky Meadow Farm; is about building a homestead and organic market garden from scratch. When we started this journey our land was fully wooded except for a small 3 acre strip of shrubby, rocky power line right of way. Watch and share in our adventure as we carve a sustainable farmstead out of these Vermont Hills!

😂 😂😂😂
How is this equipment still working. Did you make any changes to it.
The log arch's are working great. We have not made any changes.
@vermontrockymeadowfarm8164 ok cool how many man hours did it take to build
@ Not sure. We worked on them for a couple months just a few hours a night after work.
You guys are doing a great job. I really like it. I would really like to have a set myself for 2nd my business
Thank you, they really come in handy.
You done a nice job
Thank you Lauren.
Don't know if this is first time you have used this apparatus or not but you might want a little more practice before going into the logging business, it worked to move that large tree trunk but seemed a little slow to me!!
My son and I build this ourselves and yes it was the first time we ever used it.
@@vermontrockymeadowfarm8164 nice job well built
I could have chewed out some boards with my teeth by now!
Aren't you special.
Some folks would just use that hoist. 😂
Feels good to get a good start on the porch.
I use it in many different ways, rusts easily
The boom seems somewhat unnecessary especially since you have a tractor with a loader to lift things.
That is true in some cases, but the tractor is not always available.
We are getting a good start on improving our road to the cabin. The culvert is in and soon we will be hauling in some stone!
I am curious to know. Do you still have any of the busses from your other TH-cam channel?
Yes, we still have all the busses, we want to get back to them sometime.
Place looks good. How’s the driveway during Vermud season? Lol
LOL We had Vermud season all winter long ! The drive way was a mess come spring, we used the tractor and smoothed it out best we could. We have been bringing in stone this summer a little at a time.
The fact that you can't dump the max load is a deal breaker
When you say I don't need no skool...
Gald to see someone else appreciates slate! Ive been redoing my slate roof. I have some videos on my other channel if youd like to take a look. th-cam.com/video/XqLokefX2Nc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lKth8k4tLobk-SF-
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it!
True Vt home with a slate roof. Nice.
Thank you. In the next video we are going to show how to install the slate.
Looking good!
Thanks!
Do you think a regular lawn tractor will be able to pull it around on flat land?
I think so, but a lot will depend on the size of your lawn tractor. An 18 or 20 horse should do, but 10 to 15 might struggle. The trailer comes with a ball hitch so you might have to convert it if your lawn tractor has no provisions to add a hitch ball. Depending on what you are filling the trailer with, you could over load it easily for a lawn tractor as it is really designed for an ATV.
I just got one of these today. It has been fixed/modified a few times. The gear shaft is super loose even worse than yours. I think with the belt and gas motor, your new shaft will get worn quickly. I got it when I picked up some old electric wheel chairs. They have 24 volt motors on each wheel and a 18:1 gear reduction, so they are almost perfect to run the mixer, at 12v it is 100rpm, 200rpm at 24v, the bucket gear is 10:1, so 10-20 rpm is good, and now you can run it on a 12v battery, no motor noise, and the wheelchair gears have bearings to correct the bucket gear slop. Anyways, nicely done, great to see videos like this.
Sounds like you got the makings of a good set up there, good luck with your project!
Going to be a beautiful home. Is it going to be solar or line power?
Thank you. We are planning on solar.
이 영상의 두사람은 왜 덤앤더머가 생각나는 걸까?..
Very clever way to install the ridge beam. Levers are amazing
They sure are, thanks Jo.
They were made to run a much slower motor, if you made a second axle with a reduction in the pulleys it will run at the correct speed for the right revs
Good job not easy though but will be worth it in end. You two work well together.
As long as she remembers who the boss is we get along just fine! LOL
Looks like a great piece of equipment but what a pain in the rectal extremity to get it assembled. You should have read the disclaimer "Assembly required".
It gets easier the more you do it.
I finally got to get see another video don't know what you tube doing , nice job
It looked real sturdy. By now the roof is probably up and dryer in. Your a man of many talents. 👍
Thank you Andrew! Yes the roof is on and we are dried in but I am still working on installing the finished roofing covering.
Do you plan to move here permanently or will this location be a secondary place to escape to? I have enjoyed following along. Mike
Plans are to move here permanently and live in this cabin while we build our house.
Did u build it ? Looks real professional. Need more craftsmanship like that . If so what size it the pipe ?
Yes my son and I built it. If I remember correctly we used 1.75 inch pipe. You can watch the build videos in our playlist.
Mike love watching you Beth and Nik getting it done! Be Safe!
Thanks Mike, Nice to hear from you, glad you enjoy the videos.
I have this trailer. When installing the tub, you simply connect the winch to the front ring, and lift the front about 1 foot then slide it into position, then lower the front with the winch. The boom extends far enough back for this
Thanks, next time we need to do this I will give that a try.
Look like some planning can make it safer, an one person job boat winch might help
Hard workers great job
Thanks!
you guys are awesome I put it at 1.5 and you moved at normal speed ...just kidding enjoy
Super job réal professionnels
Thank you!
I bought this trailer straight from the manufacturer in china. $830 plus $30 for electric winch. shipping to my door was $1279. Allmost ordered 2 as shipping would only add like $200 to the total. just couldn't afford 2 . love this trailer for my atv
Jacqueline, how did you go about ordering straight from the manufacturer?
What was website where you ordered straight of manufacturer?
It's looking good. 😁 To see the progress. Hard workers
Thanks, still got a long ways to go!
Seems like that saw would lean over past 90 degrees from all that weight being held up from one side. Wonder if blade is offset or can be adjusted for that tilt
It will cut at 90 degrees as long as there is nothing under the cant tilting it. Yes it has adjustments, as long as it's cutting good I don't mess with um!
For a moment I thought y’all were going to put the chain to the rear lift on the tractor, pull forward and make the arm rotate down lol. I’ve seen versions of the front end but perhaps not the back end. Also why not just use a small chain hoist at the end? What if you’re working by yourself and don’t have enough weight to get it down 😂
Nothing to rust up, break or malfunction. We don't log alone. But I have to admit a little ATV winch on the back sounds good sometimes.
Great job
I'm still glad that jobs done!
A lot work can't wait to see everything produce
We haven't had much time for the garden since we started building the cabin.
You guys r pretty handy to have around
Yea if its rusty and worn out we can keep it going.
Bertha is pretty handy to have around
Sure comes in handy when we need some muscle!
You have done a lot of work it's looking nice
Thanks, it sure has been a lot of work.
Beautiful
I am getting excited, I can't wait to see finished.
Your not the only one!
The machine is amazing. You guys r hard workers.
