Thanks. I agree with you; I want faster motors! But I'm worried that the treads won't hold up at the vehicle's current speeds. 😅 After posting this video, I've had a tread come off already while racing in the house. LOL I also had one partially come off while going through taller grass.

Awesome! I'm glad it helped you out. Just curious, how much did the parts cost you, approximately? I have a few friends that missed out as well, so I'd like to give them an idea of the cost.

@@bricksnetwork the parts, not counting parts for the minifigs, were about $26. i made some compromises to keep costs down. i used only 2 brickowl sellers so as not incur a third shipping charge, so not all the parts were available in the correct colors. the pointed wedges and the hatch cover for the deck were only available in light gray and white so i painted them with Krylon Fusion Khaki which is a very close match for dark tan. the upper hull pieces (curved) were not available in white from the sellers i used, so i painted them with Fusion white. for the 1x3 plates with 2 studs i used 1x4 plates and trimmed both ends and removed the remnants of the two outer studs. you can advise your friends on which parts are concealed by the hull so the colors of those parts won't matter, since the non-correct color parts might be cheaper.

have you built the endurance? i don't think i want to try to buy 3,000 pieces by the piece, but...what kind of material are the sails made of?

@@kenbaker7375 Yes, I've built the Endurance. It was a beast! The sails are made of a cloth or cloth-like material. It's actually quite nice!

Fair enough!😊 It’s a nice set and I’m happy that I added it to my collection. I actually prefer the rear and wing design of the McLaren. Luckily I find the McLaren on sale all the time, which in that case, it’s a definite buy!

If you can find this set on sale; definitely pick it up. For the modeling mat, I bought it from Rebrickable. They are currently out of stock. However, it's the same material as a large keyboard mat. Honestly, you'll save some money by buying one from Amazon. Plus the selection is immense on Amazon; so I'm sure you'll find one that you like. @@one-mmog Yes, for the money they are pretty good. Unfortunately, the Formula 1 Speed Champions stick out just a little bit (not enough to bother me). However, the SUV Speed Champions do not fit at all! So I'll need to find a solution for the Ford Bronco R and Mercedes G 63 Speed Champions.

I personally like the idea because it's something you can interact with, versus looking at. However, using a phone as a controller is not the best form factor. I guess it keeps the cost down 🤔

@@one-mmog I agree! This was my exact thinking when I purchased this set. I wanted something more than just a "display "piece. Yes, the controller on the phone isn't great! I also wondered about the cost factor as well. I'm assuming LEGO spent quite a bit of money developing the app. But maybe in the long run, it will be more cost effective. 🤷🏾‍♂

The whole set is a mess. Check de CaDa Alfa Romeo Racing. Thats a nice Car, unfortunately it's an Alfa and not a Mercedes.

100% agree! It’s my favorite set to date that I’ve built, but the tires drive me crazy. LEGO is releasing the Ferrari and Red Bull F1 cars in March 2025 and they still have the same size tires. 🙄

100% agree with you! At this point, I'd like to see no stickers at all. LEGO increased the price on all their sets over two years ago; and if anything, I have seen more stickers added to the sets. 😩

Thanks so much!!! After building another 10 Speed Champion sets since this video, I have to agree with you, it's my favorite as well. They look amazing and standout among the other sets. The Ford GT currently sits on my desk. 😁

Yes, over the years I've found that tweezer for the stickers work quite well. I know some people that use a x-acto / hobby knife for the stickers. I'm a bit too clumsy for such a sharp knife, so I opted for the tweezer. Also a brick puller is a must too. Some of the larger LEGO sets have brick pullers in them, so luckily I've hadn't had to buy one. But if you haven't found on yet in your sets, pick one up from amazon. They are a few bucks. Starting out, either start with the smaller sets or jump directly into the Technic sets. I actually find the smaller Technics to be easier to build and the instructions are generally better IMO. But honestly, there is no right or wrong way to start. Just start building and enjoy! 😁

Unfortunately, this set does not move electronically. However, LEGO does make a few that move electronically, such as LEGO Technic 42176 Porsche GT4 e-Performance.

100% agree with you regarding "adding details where you can't". But you can create the shaping with printed pieces as well. LEGO makes billions from us. What I'm advocating for simply more printed pieces, especially from a consumer satisfaction standpoint. I don't mind adding 4 or 5 stickers. But 20+ is a bit much! Having to surgically apply that many stickers becomes frustrating after a while. Heck, I'm even willing to pay an extra $1 if it means less stickers. 😁

I noticed 4 sheets of stickers on the larger F1 builds. Maybe this is just how they decided to design their sets.
