Where are the dogs paw prints? Where is your footage of the dog mauling the bird - especially as you have your camera out? Why don't you change your caption to "Dead Pukeko found on mudflats, videographer decides to blame dogs."
Why are you trolling me pepper? I was there and watched the guys dog kill the bird right in front of me. The dog was straining on the lead with a flock of birds at the bottom of the boat ramp. He saw me watching him and then let the dog off the lead. It then chased the birds along the foreshore and the slowest bird to take to flight was killed just as it was taking off. I didn't have video of the incident but did show the aftermath. The guy went out onto the mud afterwards to collect his dog and then proceeded to yell at me for about 10 mins. I had to threaten to call the police as he was threatening me bodily harm and got into my vehicle to avoid him. After I thought he had left, I got out of my vehicle but he returned and again approached me while yelling abuse so I had to move away to put distance between us. In the end I had to scream out multiple times to Leave me alone and he only walked off when people nearby came to assist. Interestingly the same guy had a different dog off lead a few days later on the pony club walkway. What is your problem? Are you Donah from Tat FB?

I love birds and our wildlife however in fairness to the above: dogs are allowed off leash on Spinnaker Beach at high tide - The high tide rule also applies two hours before and after the high tide. The above footage looks like she is within the two hours time grace - as living here, low tide looks very different to the above.
It is irrelevant if it is within the two hour window or not as you are still not allowed to let your dog disturb wildlife like that (It was more than 2 hrs after high tide btw). Off leash and UNDER CONTROL is the goal too.
@@NZbiodiversitymatters It is irrelevant -she is within the law. If she wasn't, I take it you made an official complaint.
It is not lawful to deliberately disturb wildlife like this. If the dog owner is a local then this will be an almost daily occurrence and will adversely affect the shorebirds.
@@NZbiodiversitymatters There is an IF in your comment. AND I note that the video date has changed from 2022 to now, 2023. You also cannot state that an official crime was committed.
