What is the name of a surgeon who cauterized Doloretta Lodge's turbinates on December 28, 2018?

What is Scott Gaffer's surgeon name from the turbinate reduction procedure in 2010?

  • @kmuttfg

Turbinate reduction is a pseudo science procedure that does not address the root cause of hypertrophy /inflammation. Often, ENT specialists minimize or conveniently do not discuss the severe life long injuries to a patient pre op or discuss in depth the importance of the turbinates to the resperitory system and important ties neurologically. Ents/otolaryngologists cannot gaurentee that turbinate reductions are fool proof and cannot determine how well crucial nerves, mucosal tissue, and sensory nerves heal. What is also alarming is that once these organs happen to become non functional from a bad outcome (which a large growing amount of cases are being reported), Patients are left with no cure. Those lucky enough to have family and spare funds end up spending hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket attempting to alleviate catostrophic symptoms that are experimental with little to no relief, followed by medical gaslighting and extremely limited professionals world wide who truly have an understanding of how detrimental this condition is to the entire body. Beware of these overly marketed procedures.

All surgeons should be telling their patients of all the risks and possible side effects of any surgery as mine did. No surgery is without risks. I just had the septoplasty surgery and turbinate reduction surgery August 1 and I was explained all of the risks associated with the surgery.

Very sorry for you loss. But I must say this. Maybe this will help someone considering suicide after turbinate surgery. What Dory did to me, is mind boggling. I mean killing yourself 3 months after surgery? That is absolutely crazy, I am sorry, but I can't put it any other way. You have to wait much longer after surgery for the nose to get back in order, I know people who experienced Dory's symptoms until 6,7 and 8 months after surgery. So, you have to wait muuuuch longer than 3 months. Besides, Dory lived with her daughter's family. I can imagine she could afford to not work and just try to get better. There are very strong meds out there that can help you sleep, if you can't fall asleep on your own, I guarantee it. Also, don't overuse them, because they dry out the nose. For example, drug addicts you see in the streets have rotting legs and a bunch of other health issues, but they don't bother them, because these meds (drugs) make them feel better. I am not saying that you should become a drug addict, but sometimes, if it's hard to cope you can take stronger drugs to feel better in order to wait out your rehabilitation period, which, I'd say, can be up to a year, after cauterization. I believe that the facebook ENS forum and a huge portion of the internet is quite misleading in saying that there's no hope when you have ENS symptoms. I have seen so many cases where people got better, especially after cauterization. So, DO NOT do what Dory did and kill yourself 3 months after surgery. It is completely ridiculous and deserving of Darwin Awards. I've gone through what Dory was going through, and it got better after about 8 months, then, overtime, it got even better, gradually. Also, if you have significant tissue loss, implants help a lot. Where I live, in Russia, we have even crazier ENS cases than in America, I'd say, your doctors are a lot more aware about ENS and I have never heard of a single suicide of a Russian person who had ENS. I think it has to do with the American mentality, also. So, my message to anyone who just got surgery and thinks it's hell, it will get much better, especially if you had a routine cauterization.

You mean well by suggesting that 3 months may not be sufficient to take ones life, though we also have to recognize that each case of ens is different and unique. (Regardless of country of origin). Further more, We cannot measure how much another person is suffering whether it's from Ens or any other serious medical condition. All we can do is hope for better diagnostic tools, better treatment plans in the future, followed by family members of living or deceased to put substantial pressure on legislators to create laws in order to make it only strictly medically necessary (such as an injury/tumor/cancer) for ENTs to perform turbinate related procedures. As much as I like your last statement and intention to save lives, we also cannot gage who gets better or worse in time as again ens affects people differently in the short and long term. Some people after surgery may have a bit of luck others not so much. Best we can do is show *unity* and come up with *solutions* to halt overly routine turbinate reduction procedures.

I am so sorry for your families loss. My mother suffers with this, she had surgery on her ephmoid sinus in 2014, and she knew something was wrong directly afterward.. She got no coopreration from doctors who continously labelled her as having anxiety issues. But as we knew the anxiety issues were from her symptoms. The only comfirmation she got from any doctor, was from a doctor that was retiring and substituted for the one who was supposed to do an examination. He told her the truth after years of being told it was in her head.. Her surgery was botched, and 3 of her turbinates were destroyed.. When I call her, much of the calls she is crying when she answers the phone, she suffers and has found no solutions. But We are greatful for the retiring doctor who told her the truth.. The anxiety of not knowing, and being given the runaround continuosly for years amplified her suffering. I would do anything to help my mom.. She has done nothing to deserve such suffering, and cowardice and indifference from others who are supposed to be helping her.. I heard that the doctor who destroyed her turbinates is now working in pediactrics. I hope he is breathing easy at night.. and as for any possible corrective surgeryin the future, she is so terrified she will never trust anyone to do anything with her sinuses at this point..

I'm telling her to fly a kite later today, I just want my deviated septum fixed not my turbinates reduced. SHE NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT ANY COMPLICATIONS THAT COULD ARISE FROM DOING THE SURGERY.

Tragic to hear this. I’ve had a few ENT’s suggest turbinate reduction. I asked the latest one what the possible side effects are…She said there’s a very slight chance of a small perforation, which could cause whistling sound when breathing. She made no mention of ENS. I didn’t know about ENS at that time. Other 2 ENT’s I met with never said anything about ENS…..Tgank you for sharing Scott’s tragic story…RIP, Scott.

Survivor of ENS & S.... I can't even say it... the algo don't like it. I got my surgery slightly before her & summer of 2019 attempted. I have my court date tomorrow in this 4 year long battle for SSDI. Although still sick, I've gone on to do amazing things... I am a musician & performer... I wear a mask & wear breathing devices under it... At every show & every song just about I talk about this... In my last song "GASLIGHT" I rage out on the doctor that did this. It's a Trap/Metal track in the last few years so many treatment advances and awareness have happened... NO DOCTOR Today could get away with denying this ... some may still try. I'm so Happy to see Cancelled Surgeries below. If this is happening.. something is wrong and ofc the doctor will say this isn't the case.. This is how they get insurance money. They operate & want to be done with you. Thank you for doing such a beautiful job spreading the word. As long as I'm still alive i will.
