BUBBLE WRAP (coho fly)
In low clear situation when the coho are more weary and less prone to biting I like to fish smaller flies.I have tied this fly with different colour threads such as chartreuse, orange, red and white and same for the chenille.

      Thank you. All the music I use are composed by me as it say in the intro "Flies & Music by ..", It's been a longtime, I have to look to see if I can find it as sometimes I just improvise for the sake of the video. I have to look in my folders and hopefully find it but in the mean time I have lots of music on TH-cam of different styles, my website is andrestepanian.com.

    Hey Andre, any reason you use straight eye hooks over downturned? Deadly looking fly!

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the reason is I will fish a floating line with a long leader or at most a clear tip when the coho are sitting in a very clear pool, it rides more straight in the slow pools when you are sight casting to coho that are sitting still water, especially the really long slow pulls, the down eye kind of wobbles and rotates as you are stripping it.If you are swing it in a faster moving run on a sink tip then it doesn't make a difference say for example at fisherman's park on the Squamish or even lower Squamish where the Mamquam flow is.Thanks!

    Hi Andre, when do you expect the salmon fry to be on the move this year?

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's temperature dependent, as soon as you get 10 days or so of consistent double digit temps you will see them pop.The first place you want to check it the Stave river as it is very shallow and the sun warms up the the river bed sooner than other systems.

    Nice tie, im wondering why you have selected braid as your tail and wing as well as hoochie tentacle for your body wrap? Could it be substitute w chenille body or scud back for body and krystal flash or other hair as leg and tail?

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I do have other flies like this using those material. Always testing new material that might entice the fish to strike or reflect light differently. The braid is stiffer like KF so it doesn't collapse when it gets wet and when you fray it out it looks messy just like the real euphausid. As far as the body this hootchie is clear UV not to be mistaken with just the clear ones. Nature has made this crustation luminous under low light conditions as they mostly show and our seen by the fish, if you shine the UV light you will see what the fish see and the other reason is the rubbery texture which feels more life like as they bite into it and not spit it out fast. All my flies are designed for North shore Ambleside fishery which is the hardest place to catch a coho in N.America, very tight lipped, picky fish that don't eat at the estuary.By all means try different materials that is what I do every year and test them as I don't sell flies that I don't catch fish on them.Thanks for the support.

      @@Frenzyflies.thank you for the response, that was very informative! You mention in your description you fish this fly with floating line and intermittent twitches. Would it just be like a lifeless presentation in the current? Or kinda of like a slow strip w twitches and pause

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. ปีที่แล้ว

      @@THFlyFishing You have to vary the speed and fish the fly in it's natural state. I don't know if I know you from when I worked at Pacific Angler but I suggest taking the Fly fishing beach course next year, very intense 3 hour course, a lot of information that I have gathered the last 40 years on the beach.

    Awesome pattern! I take it meant for swinging givin its size and flash placement on top?

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes as well as swinging, I fish these patterns on the Squamish river as in August the river is pretty colored up. I fish them on a floating line with a 12ft leader and as they roll mostly on the surface when they are moving up you can actually strip them and they will follow and eat it avoiding snags with sink tips.

    Hey Andre, why tie in the braid if you wrap over it with the pink body? Love the pattern, Alex

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alex, the braid is UV Frost lagartun and it glows underneath which the natural crustacean does at low light, if you had nothing it would not be the same, plus the Lagartun braid in Frost is one of the best materials I have ever used for my beach flies, not to be mistaken for pearl braid .Another option I did but this is way better was to wrap silver tinsel back in the day. Good luck.

    Doesn’t the fly ride upside down?

    • @Frenzyflies.
      @Frenzyflies. ปีที่แล้ว

      The dumbell is too small to do that and and usually I am swinging these downstream early season when the fry are just coming off the bottom, the fry at that stage are disoriented still before they are fully hatched and coming down in small patches close to the surface the which by then I fish my epoxy fry.

      Yes it takes a lot of practice. You can always flatten the rachis with flat nose pliers so it is not round and stops the feather from rolling which is a common practice when tying classics.
