Interesting response. I was an avid record/music collector for decades - however, regardless of "immediate harms" pressing new albums NOW is ACTIVELY SUPPORTING BIG OIL. That is an unequivocal fact. I don't have children... but we ALL vote for/support industries with our money. So - in the larger picture, knowing what we know, I don't understand the idea of actively supporting big oil in spite of the facts - especially as parents. Your option... their futures. Just my opinion/observations. Cheers.

Excellent response. We're in this era of click-bait fraudulent TH-cam videos without much of a counterbalance to them. Benn's video was alarming, and reminded me of the blatantly faked Bourbon Moth linseed oil fires. Relying on a musician for health or science advice - or really any sort of wisdom other than chord progressions - is probably a bad idea.

As a turntablist I would love to see more lead tests.

This was SUPER helpful! I started messing around with a Spirograph recently and wondered about layering designs and this was the perfect help! Love the math part too! I feel like I’m grasping it more now than just messing around in bafflement 🙃

I read Lead and Cadmium were mixed into the PVC to make vinyl records in the past. That would explain the positive result on the older record. I read it has mostly been phased out. When you play a vinyl record the needle actually very slowly wears down the groove and generates dust on the stylus. If there is lead or cadmium present in the dust this could be concerning as any amount of lead exposure is not good, especially for children.

thank you so much for this. i had the 1980s set and am looking to get one again as an adult. when i was a kid it always confused me how to make anything coherent so i just gave up and played with other kits instead. but my creative juices are flowing and youtube to the rescue.

How do you move the inner wheel without missing/slipping the teeth? For me that is the hardest part of it.

If you made a spread sheet with the most common, why not write a q&d spread sheet formula to just calculate it? You could even plug in hole location and start/stop location. Let me know if you want me to write it for you. Love the channel!

i got my super spirograph set for christmas of 1971 when i was 10. it was the most difficult and frustrating gift i ever loved. i got another one in 2011 for my birthday. i was much more adept at using it at 50 than i when i was 10. my set used small push pins to hold the paper to a cardboard backing pad. after much experimentation i found the pentel rsvp pens worked out the best because the ink flowed well but dried quickly enough not to smear.

this is where understanding what a significant result is statistically, based on the closeness of your numbers, it seems that there was not a number documented outside of the expected curve. your meter should be tested and calibrated on a known and specified object, just to make sure that it is correct, but i also watched the video and suspected it was an off gassing from the brand new turntable while running, possibly some motor lubricant etc, and not from the vinyl itself. i do agree with benn that environmentally they are illogical, and possibly harmful - but thats not what your addressing.

Hello, You're not really good with the Spirograph ... it's not complicated ... I think that for lefties you have to turn anti-clockwise ... And above all, hold his pencil vertically !!! the pencil must be perpendicular to the notched wheel in which the tip of the pencil is positioned. And then the best are the stabilo Felt tip pen fine point

I feel he has an extreme bias and did it to support his bias. Also, when you contaminate the testing area you're supposed to decontaminate it and test to see if equipment is producing interference with with electronic testing devices. Each test should start from sterile and he failed to do that. Vintage vinyl is quite likely to contain cadmium or lead and so new ones do not use these compounds and haven't for a long time
