    How about shimming the neck?

    • @MacSimusMusic
      @MacSimusMusic 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In this case, it was the height of the gk3 pickup that was keeping the action higher than the client wanted. The only way to lower that pickup was to remove the pickguard from underneath.

    Thank you. I scrolled and watched dozens of videos with all the pseudo-professional egoistic chit chat and unnecessary shit that last like 20min/per video (on time-lapse when the actual work is done), where some dude is making everything complicated starting of the tools needed and waxes and all the shit and made a fucking cathedral size number of a thing that could be shown in under a minute. THIS is how you make a useful tutorial. Definitely subscribing.

    I use a Taylor with Expression system 2 and with some processing with the Helix it sounds pretty damn good. Using a preamp block/acoustic IR's/compression/reverb and sometimes a slight rotary speaker mixed in for some swirl. Their pickup is behind the saddle and adjustable for 3 courses of strings separately instead of underneath. I don't suffer from any quack at all.

    Don’t think multiple passes need to be done going to a super-fine grit to achieve the desired result. Not to mention, removing more of the original finish than is really necessary. All you need to do is remove the lustre and you’re done - with minimal assault. Just my humble opinion.

    • @PERPowns
      @PERPowns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not sanding the finish off the neck, simply scratching the surface of the finish. If done correctly (i.e. not sanded through the finish and paint, exposing bare wood) there will be no difference in the top coat's ability to protect against moisture.

    Wet and dry 600 grit paper ' Sand it dry is safe for a 1'st timmer. I've used 400 Grit wet and dry for the past 40 years ' start out with a fresh piece of paper on a sanding block ' Address the finger board edges 1'st This helps eliminate any fret end sprout and You can roll over the fret ends at the same time ' After doing that the paper will be worn in enough to do the neck. I've found 1000 grit and anything above is too time consuming and is basically just polishing the neck. Have done it like that on hundreds and hundreds over the years repairing instruments.

    I was hoping you'd go over the Bluetooth aspect. I already have this amp sans Bluetooth. It sounds so much better with an external reverb pedal. The overall volume opens up without touching the knobs on the amp and it enhances the tone. It's an amazing amp. Get the extension speaker if you can. The batteries last forever. I got two years out of the factory enclosed set.

    • @MacSimusMusic
      @MacSimusMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Bluetooth works fine, but it's kind of a gimmick. This thing sounds so good as an amp because it's mid-forward. And as a bluetooth speaker is also mid-heavy. It works, but lacking in bass and treble response, so doesn't sound great streaming music or with backing tracks. I agree 100% that it is a great little practice amp. Still use it all the time!
