The Hellfire was the first rocket I learned about as a child. Through the film Godzilla in 1997. Even though the Apaches were very unrealistic in that film, I became very interested in this aircraft afterward. And now I see (once again) that there is a lot more to it. For example, the three attack options. This shows once again that modern warfare is a lot more complicated than many people think. Above all, how does the laser code work? Does it have to do with light frequencies or something, so that the rocket can distinguish the codes? Great video as always.

What's it? A cruise missile, or a gliding aerial bomb? I think even in the JSOW-ER variant, it is a gliding aerial bomb with a jet accelerator.

Today it became known that Ukraine will receive them. Russians will also receive them, in some sense.🙂

amazing work. now I understand how cruise missiles work and why these guided munitions are an important item in the arsenal of US weapons, as it can be a powerful tool to project power overseas. it also makes sense why it is expensive, as it allows the US to destroy specific targets with pinpoint accuracy while the launch platform is in a safe range from threats, ie: anywhere from disabling anti air and ground convoys to taking out any specific (groups of) person while the ship (or any other firing platform) is way out of hostile unit engagement range. man, the world does feel small when you think about it this way.

EXCELLENT ¡ The AGM-84 Harpoon missiles and its variants have a long life to go. The Swedish R-15 is another great one.

I was a 14T (Patriot Missile Launching Station crewmember/ operator) in Iraq 2003. I just so happened to be assigned to E 5/52 so I literally saw the anti Radiation missile impact and explosion directly in front of our radar blowing it to shit. We got a replacement radar within a day not slowing our march to Baghdad on the front line one bit. Also watched both PAC 3 missiles launch, then a fireball "poof" way high in the distance, the "CONFIRMED KILL!! CONFIRMED KILL!!" radio call followed by another voice announcing contact was just lost with a friendly aircraft. It was the F18 Hornet. Patriot radar does not "lock" on targets, that's one of its advantages over other systems. It "paints" the area of sky its aimed at, like air traffic control radars, meaning it sees and tracks everything up there at the same time but doesn't lock on anything individually, not even when it is guiding a missile into a target. so the pilot has no idea its going to get hit until its too late. The target will get locked on a second or so before impact, but not by the ground radar, if that doesn't make sense, its kind of not supposed to but exactly what I said is exactly what I meant. \

Unbelievable. Now I understand why these things are so expensive. In Command Modern Operations you can see the difference between the guidance systems pretty well and it's no wonder the price is so high when you simply install four or five different navigation instruments in one single weapon. All to hit more accurately and protect civilians. I assume GPS is the primary control device for the Tomahawk? If so, is INS less susceptible to jamming because it can be programmed before it gets within range of jammers? The same with TERCOM? Or is that used instead of INS (and GPS) when the missile is flying low? There are certainly more attack modes for the Tomahawk than just the low-level approach I guess. As always, excellently delivered knowledge that is hard to get anywhere else. I'd love to see more of it.

We definitely need some info about the F-15EX. Personally, I'm a big Raptor fan but man, what they did to the F-15 is striking.

The JSOW is too inexpensive. the DOD would prefer to use a more expensive cruse missile. These have been relegated to FMS use.

The IHAWK system could operate in autonomy which predates Patriot. This was designated as auto designate mode. So you started the video making an incorrect statement.
