How to catch Milty or any spot pitcher

This strategy is based on more than fifty years experience and the combination of two observations; 1..DOAM; the distance of average miss 2..The "hockey stick" pattern of the misses I appreciate any feedback on this strategy...even from catchers! Drop ball grip is as tight as you can vs Rise which is light or loose as you can then snap snap snap ,

    Best drop ball pitcher Al Lewis stratford Connecticut. Also Dick Brubaker ILLINOIS . AL LEARNED to pitch from Johnny Spring when he was a batboy , he and johnny were the only hurlers to pitch perfect games in the ASA Nationals .

    My daughter's coach throws a nasty knuckle ball, he used to play men's fastpitch. I catch for my daughter and he threw me one and it danced all over the place. So I started fooling around and learned how to throw one, girls for the most part don't have big enough hands.

      Ya, I'm still plugging away...last year was off of course and the previous season I was out with plantar fasciitis, but hopefully will be back this season. We have an over 65 team from Canada that goes to the NAFA tournaments in Quad Cities and Carson City each year

    Straight aluminum bats. Not composite stuff. The new bats is how we are getting all the 2000mph come backs .

    • @brutalblue4761
      @brutalblue4761 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to agree. Wood bats have a very small sweet spot so there tends to be a lot of very weak ground balls hit back to pitcher or corner infielders. I would like to have bats with large sweet spots but not overly live....aluminum could be the answer...

    • @frozendivots1564

      I agree. Been pitching men’s fastpitch since 1989 and Would love to see composite banned. Deadly, even for infielders.

    What is the best changeup, in your opinion?

    • @coachmilt9987
      @coachmilt9987 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! I learned, and still throw, a backhand change-up....but actually I wouldn't recommend it as it is more difficult to control. I'd say experiment with a variety of grips and focus on the one that is most accurate. The change-up is a great pitch but it has to be kept low and preferably low and away.

    Milt, you needed a knuckle-baller to weigh in on this one. If only you knew a knuck-baller who could help you out with this one! Maybe a revised version of this vid some time? hehe

    Well I think, since I now have several wood bats, that we should do it again or at least have a few wood bat games for teams into it at connaught. :)
