Rotary has more of a horn-like sound to me and seems better suited for blending in ensembles. Piston sounds fuller with more solo qualities. And it sounds better on the attack with more projection. However, there’s so many other variables at play here that could contribute to the differences in their sound signatures.

Wonderful! Could you also record the other etudes de style from the last part of Arban?

how demonstrate blowing through the valves, you will not get the water off from the third valve. The gravity is a gainst you. You can lift up the trumpet slightly over your head, then blow through all valves, continue like described. Some trumpets have a water key at the third valve, other pull off the bow.
