I love the sounds of old computers. HDD noises and startup effects come to mind immediately. I can't tell if it's because my parents held onto a 1998 Dell Dimension XPS R450 long enough for me to grow up and rescue it from being thrown away (I was born 4 years after it was made), or because I'm a regular experiencer of anemoia (primarily for the 1940s, but also other times just a little), and this is my way of feeling it for this age. either way, this is EXACTLY what I wanted, and I'm so glad you made it.
I experience anemoia for times ranging from just before my earliest memories to 10 years before I was born. I think the Windows 98 startup sound was the best Windows startup sound though, regardless of sentimental value.
@JoBot__ yeah, that is pretty typical fro our generation. I may have felt it at some point for the 80s or 90s... not really sure, but we kept all sorts of 80s-2000s tech in our home for the longest time. I remember my dad had a CD switcher connected to one of our plentiful CRT TVs, on a huge cabinet, as well as the visualizer. he also used a type-writer, a VAIO, and we had all sorts of outdated gaming consoles, not to mention our home phones in every room. our home was super 1990s for the longest time, even past 2012. we even still have many many VHS tapes in our basement
