This Hioki is not the same type of meter like 87V, look into Hioki DT4261 to compare to 87. Hioki is high end meter good as Fluke or better.
I totally agree. A nice comparison would’ve been the FLUKE 189. But I don’t have any.
I totally agree. A nice comparison would’ve been the FLUKE 189. But I don’t have any.
Klein Tools for sure!
No way , compare the features.
What was the point of this?
It’s an introduction video short about a new tester on the market.
Nice....
It’s very nice, it’s a shame IDEAL discontinued this item.
Will these work with romex? 12/3 & 14/3? Will these fit in a single gang box?
I’m sure that they’ll work on romex. But they’re not designed for tight spaces like gang boxes. SOTHWIRE makes a wire stripper for fitting inside gang boxes. I don’t know the model number.
They both are great meters.
I agree ☝️
Es muy paresido al modelo que yo tengo el Fluke 88 V son exelentes medidores 👏🤝👏🤝🇲🇽🇲🇽
Greetings from the USA 🇺🇸. Great minds think alike 🤔👍🏾
El dt4282 le gana y por mucho!!
Stay tuned into the channel I’ll be uploading a full review between them both in the very near future. Subscribe to the channel so you won’t miss out 👍🏾
It would be good to use a 15 amp appliance, to check if the voltage drop is really 102.4. And so we will know if the RT390 is reliable.
Even if’s off a bit, but still within spec it’s useful. That’s just my opinion 👍🏾
very poor meter not purchase
I agree ☝️
Does this have auto hold/touch hold like the 87v? Or only "screen freeze" hold?
Yes 👍🏾
The hart brand is not for heavy duty use. I tried to remove a stuck bolt and they gave out with just my hand strength ( i'm not a big guy)
I guess you get what you pay for nowadays.
Many Happy returns of the day
Thanks, Merry Christmas 🎄
Ok you just showed the tester video has no value. Next time show how to use it in different conditions and things to be aware of. People are here to learn not to see how pretty it is.
If you need help using a tool this simple you shouldn’t be trying to do electrical work. 🤔 Thanks for sharing
@@TheElectriciansToolChannel LOl nice response, it was expected from a channel like yours. I have never used one of these tools and I'm not an electrician, but I have the ability to learn. I was not born knowing everything but I sure know enough. sorry thumbs down to your channel you won't be able to grow it like this.
@DKLGalactus5 I’m not trying to go back and forth with you sir all I’m saying is that don’t blame me for your lack of knowledge concerning this tool. You could either find another youtuber to educate you on this tool or contact the company that manufactures this tool. Maybe they’ll be more helpful to you and your lack of understanding about this tool. Or with your big brain you should have googled the instruction manual and read it. Then you and I would not be having this discussion. Merry Christmas 🎄
@@TheElectriciansToolChannel No problem I learned it now from another channel.
@DKLGalactus5 Now do you see how simple that was? So you did learn something from my channel 😮😊👋
Tere is no way you use that daily and have it that clean
Okay, I understand 👍🏾
Great
I recently found out that they’ve been discontinued. And they can’t be found anywhere. I’m so glad that I got me a pair before they became extinct.
Could not see the buttons you are pressing so I can't follow along with mine.
I apologize for that. I’m planning another review of this tester in the near future I’ll make sure 👍🏾 that I won’t be in the way.
I supprt this message 😂
Great minds think alike 👍🏾
Ideal's RMS math doesn't agree with Fluke's and I've never seen it actually spot a bootleg ground. I trust its numbers so little that I would not buy another one if mine broke unless they cut the price by 75%.
I understand 👍🏾
Slow down, too much information all at once I can’t comprehend…… 😑
That’s the first time I’ve heard that.
Hello , i have a lcr-915 . When I turn on the device, it freezes and all the symbols on the screen light up and the device doesn't turn off and I have to remove the batteries to turn it off. Do you know what the problem is? I think the IC needs to be reprogrammed, but I can't find the program anywhere.
I don’t know what the issue is? But if I were you I’d contact GW INSTEK. They may fix the issue for free or send you a replacement. I hope that helps 👍🏾
@TheElectriciansToolChannel Unfortunately, they do not have a sales or service representative in our country, and they do not answer my emails.
@TheElectriciansToolChannel Thank you for answering.👍
APPA is the manufacturer of that meter contact that company. Since they’re the original maker of that meter you maybe able to send it to them for repairs. Good luck 🍀
Hi, we are the development phase of the new wire stripper, given your expertise in this field. We would like to invite you. Please let me know your contact information/ email. So i can share all information with you.
122,000 were recalled 47th week of 1999 to May 2002.
I didn’t know about that. Did they say why?
@ Coil problem caused burn injuries. I remember the supply houses had posters up forever about it. I always wondered if they got them all.
I doubt that they got them all. They didn’t get mine and just like I didn’t hear anything about it I’m sure they’re many more people that didn’t know. Anyway that’s water under the bridge now. Thanks for the update 👍🏾
You should look for test instruments at GOA TE
What’s GOA TE ?
I just bought the 2880b model on eBay and I thought it was great for the price, US$95 and well preserved. I'm just trying it out and, honestly, I'm very happy with the purchase. I like the BK brand.
Great job 👏🏾
I found someone selling it for $70 used. Are you telling me it's worth its value?
That’s what I’m telling you 👍🏾
Thank from uk
🇺🇸 Greetings from the USA 🇺🇸
Ive liked your channel sir thankyou ive revently extended my career normally i work on mobile equipment 24v stuff mothing crazy more and more im getting into some 3 phase 460v stuff im looking for a solid clamp meter i would appreciaate your experience and recommendations
Thanks for your support. Tonight I’ll be uploading a TH-cam (SHORTS) of my new favorite clamp meter today. I won’t tell you the brand because I want it to be a surprise. But it’s become my favorite brand so subscribe to my channel (SHORTS) so you get to see all my content. And in the near future I’ll do a complete review of this clamp meter I’ll even post a comparison review of my other favorite brands. Stay tuned in👍🏾
I love my fluke meters and have a few. I’ve recently just purchased this and can’t wait to get some hours on it. What an amazing meter… 28ii is my daily, but this is my bench meter and my favourite.
Great choice you won’t be disappointed 👍🏾
May I ask, why for a given 250,000 Ohm Resistance was read as 130 million Ohm (~130,000,000 ohm) on the HIOki 4282 ?
The dt4282 measured 130.0 megohms . I don’t know why it came up short ? It maybe because of something I did I’m still learning about the meter. Because after I stopped recording I measured it again and the dt4282 measured the 250,000 ohm resistor.
❤️

The dovoh is a 360 laser and the klein is a cross line. Meaning the klein will only project in front of it.
That’s correct ✅
I sure love seeing you introduce people to brands they may not be familiar with. I love my Fluke stuff I just wish they had a little more competition for certain products. I feel like if they had more competition they would be more inclined to innovate and come out with new stuff. They should do a refresh of the 299 make it rechargeable color display fluke connect integrated etc but they have had no reason to. I bought an AEMC 3293 I’ve been test driving and so far I really like it. I had a BK precision 394 that got stolen out of my truck but I really liked it as well. I’m setting up a test bench in my office, do you have a recommendation for a bench multimeter and scope that are decent but I won’t have to sell a kidney for. Keep up the good work you’ll be at 10000 subscribers before you know it.
Thanks for your support. It’ll be another decade before fluke revises the 289 , if any. I was looking for the AEMC METRIX MTX 3293B this morning to purchase. I have the AEMC 3290 that I did a review of about a year ago. I wasn’t particularly pleased with it, check it out when possible. As far as a bench top multimeter maybe RIGOL or SIGLENT. I don’t have a bench top multimeter, I have too many other handheld multimeter options to choose from. But I have everything else to make my electronics bench operational. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, stay tuned I have some great stuff coming up the pipeline. By the way also take a look at my channel on TH-cam SHORTS platform. You’ll get a kick out of it 👍🏾
Metrix no good
Not compared to the FLUKE it isn’t.😮
Looks like you overlooked the Fluke's bar graph display, which is a great feature to me.
Wow 🤩, I did forget. And I think it’s a great feature to have on any test instrument. Adding it now still doesn’t change my perspective of the comparison between the two. I still think 🤔 the hioki is a better choice.
Good video. That fluke insulation resistance tester is off the charts.
I agree ☝️, but the IDEAL did everything the fluke did for less money. 💰
Good review. Hioki for the win !!
You know it!
Nice review. I have a hioki for solar and pv work. It's extremely robust and highly accurate .
I’m trying to tell the world 🌎 in my newest video I just uploaded to TH-cam. I recommend you check it to entitled: HIOKI vs. FLUKE ( Loser Go Home)
Awesome video. I'm a beginner, and It's hard to find tutorials on the basics, like using volt meters and other test equipment.
I’m glad you enjoyed it 👍🏾
HHah🎉
👍🏾
I have been using Hioki for over 36 years as an electronic hobbyist and believe it is far superior to Fluke. I don't understand why everyone chooses Fluke.
I've been using FLUKE for a very long time also, and using a fluke was engraved in my head which wasn't a bad thing. but over the years I've in some cases fluke is overrated. So, I began to search for the next best thing and I came across several test instruments that are highly competitive with a fluke for far less money. So, I agree with you and in this case the hioki wins. Thanks for sharing your expert opinion. I hope you subscribed to the channel there's more content coming.
There are two additional ways to check for bootleg grounds without the ideal sure test or removing the cover plate to check for a neutral to ground jumper. The first method is the safest. With the power off, set a multimeter to resistance and measure between the ground and neutral slots. Remember that when a home is wired correctly the neutral and ground is bonded only at the service equipment, and the resistance of 14 awg copper wire is 2.53 ohms / 1000 ft @ 68°F. Keeping this information in mind, you can calculate what the appropriate resistance between the neutral and ground slots should be on a correctly wired receptacle if you know roughly how many feet to the main panel and multiply the footage X2. Lets assume the receptacle we want to test is 50 feet from the main panel. This means if wired correctly, there should be 2.53 / 1000 * (50*2), or 0.253 ohms, actual reading would be slightly higher when taking into account splices and wiring devices, you get the point. On the other hand If you measure say, 0.001 ohms between the ground and neutral , then it's a safe bet you have a bootleg ground, in fact this is precisely how the Ideal SureTest meter detects false grounds. The second method, potentially dangerous and should be done with caution, requires placing a heavy load on a duplex receptacle while measuring the neutral to ground voltage in the unused half, a heat gun that draws 10 to 15 amps works great. Because of the resistance in the hot and neutral conductors, there should be a small voltage, say around 1 to 2 volts between neutral and ground in a correctly wired receptacle, this neutral to ground voltage increases with increasing current draw and distance from the service equipment. If you measure 0 volts neutral - ground with a heavy load connected, a false ground is highly suspect.
Got it, thanks 👍🏾
Hioki é muito superior
I agree at least in this situation 👍🏾
Tengo el 87V que lo compré el año 2004 y sigue funcionando de manera impecable. No lo cambiaría por ningún otro multimetro o modelo
No need to if it’s serving all your needs 👍🏾
Old ideal industries pliers was like channellock. Same forms but ideal was better. For example:channellock 369 to ideal was ideal 35-012 Channellock 369 crft=ideal 30-430 Channellock 349=ideal 35-013 Channellock 348=ideal 420
I love them both 👍🏾. Thanks for sharing.
I have 2 pairs absolutely new 369 crft. Approximately 2000-2004 made. With simple blue handles not insulated
Those are antique vintage very hard to find.👍🏾
lol, thank you for sharing dovoh H3-360G laser level and DR1 receiver.
No problem, I think the world should know about this product. If they have other products that’s high quality I’ll share them also to my subscribers.
@@TheElectriciansToolChannel sounds great!
Not heard this Hioki brand before but Fluke sadly i am.. over priced decades old things which needs stay in past. Bye bye Fluke and Welcome Hioki for me!
I said almost those exact same words to a friend yesterday. Welcome aboard 👍🏾
From 33:15 to 34:10 he keeps us waiting 55 seconds while he fails to notice that he has not made a connection to his test resistor and thus concluded that the blue meter had failed to make the measurement. He is totally confused about what is a kilo-ohm and what is a mega-ohm. He is not using precision resistors for his comparison and is unaware of this. What a clueless clown. A truly worthless video.
