Thank you for this, Dave! I'm running an aging Nitro 5 with a 9300h and a 1650. I upgraded the RAM to 16 gigs when I bought it, but as you say it's just not enough anymore. Following your guide has at least made Star Citizen playable for me for now, and I really appreciate it. Cheers!

I entered game as it was free at epic, never heard before. Enjoyed a lot and played like 300-400 hours in a half year, and even managed do pre order odyssey, after release i dropped. Too bad optimization for my pc. Now im going to observe how it'll run.

I just buyed the game and i'm mad about the fact it's badly handled.

It doesn't matter how many updates they give this game it's never going to improve why well for a start in game information is so badly managed that is impossible to actually find out anything about the game in order to actually play it. Take for instance a recent Titan that's being attacked there's nowhere on the system map in order to show where this is information that's given in information panel doesn't even tell you where the system is. It says that it's under stress but it doesn't tell you where to go. It doesn't tell you what's going on. There's no way in the game in even in the alerts on the map to actually tell you where to go so people don't fucking go this is why Britain is faining because the country is a whole has no idea how to run anything

Nvidia control panel looks microscopic... good explanation but a bit too fast for my monkey brain, and i can't see shit from the list either when you work in NVIDIA Control Panel...

And today i switched back after years from star citizen... Bcause... The promisses really suck.

When I tested resolution from 1920 X 1080 to 1280 X 720 I got at least 10-15 frames I know it doesn't look the prettiest but if you are hungry for frames it might not hurt to at least try it and see.

word of advice, might want to put into your title that half of this tutorial was made for Nvidia cards. not everyone uses Nvidia.

Shocking to me that they would lock the biggest part of their most ambitious DLC away from VR players. Having to experience the on-foot parts out of VR breaks the immersion so hard that it hurts the game tremendously. Although to be fair it's not like many CMDRs are out there wanting to control their character with a HOTAS either.

Question: Have you thought about an update video since the release of 3.23? (**If I missed the video, please forgive me)

Giving Odyssey another chance because the first Star Citizen 3.23 patch looks like it's going to be a crashfest and so want something to play until 3.23.1 appears...

This video is old, but for anyone who might be watching this: Do not turn V sync on, that just adds input lag. So you may see the game run smoother, but in reality all kind of actions like shooting will have a MS delay. So basically tripple buffering and Vsync always off. Anyways, if you're experienced with gaming you already know v-sync is only nice when playing single player games

its so sad to see what happened to this game i used to play this every day then after few major fails i stop playing it was like few months before odyssey then it droped i gave it change even so i have terrible pc i never had such bad fps as i did in odyssey so i left and neven came back again its a shame since i really tryed to love this game but this game just dont love you back

I deleted my triple Elite character and started again. I'm just playing with a pimped up sidewinder and having fun. I never bought Odyssey: if I wanted to play an FPS I'd buy a purpose-built FPS.

I'm struggling to get this work - can you explcitly list the 4 keybindings we need to set, I'm guessing with a couple of them and can't seem to get them to work - I can't get switchingt o commander controls to work and not sure I've got the second one I have to do simultaneously right.

The way I personally see it, is; Odyssey will do to horizon what horizon did to ED. New player's can't miss what they have never had. Such as myself startng after the release of Horizon rather than before. Simular to the way my son has just started playing in Odyssey has never really in the two year's he's been playing, experienced HORIZON as I've done. Where as I boot in Odyssey, I utilzie more of the Horizon aspect than he, and he utilize's the Odyssey aspect more than Horizon. Together we play well, my doing the space stuff, he doing the surface stuff.

Having just come from an extremely deep dive into nvidia and graphics settings and how it all works this video was a tough watch. I was hoping to learn something new about SC but instead I can perhaps impart some info: Shader cache size is better higher. 100gb. The difference you're getting at 10gb is either identical performance or worse but with cognitive biases in. The same true for your page file custom size. Its only even used when your ram runs out. And performance mode does NOT enable the gpu to run better. It simply doesn't let it back off. So you can expect a tiny bit faster response going from low draw to high draw areas, but it's not an overall limiting factor. It is best to have it on, but it's cost benefit is not a great trade.

AMDs AFMF is just killing it in SC. going from 60-70 fps to 120 fps

This Game is just not optimized. If u have a cpu of 2023 and a 4070, 32 gb ram and ssd, normaly an old game like this one must have more 60 fps in ultra in 2k…. In 1080 i have less than 40 fps….. And graphics are not So fresh….. And look the stutering, un this vidéo…. I have sturering, too.

VR still performs rather poorly compared to 3.8 imo, even out in the dark...

Why is everybody who plays Elite like fucking 60 years old?
