They just skipped tonga’s lmao
Samoan and Tongan weapons are pretty basic because they always fight close combat so they didn't need any fancy shaped or carved weapons they just needed it big and heavy also because all Polynesians (except for Tonga) only fought each other. As for Fiji, being the center and bridge between Polynesia and Melanesia didn't not make it easy, constant invasions from Tonga and blood ties with New Cal, Solomon Isl, Vanuatu all the way to PNG made the Fijians improvise and create a variety of war clubs. Based on ratings and stats Fiji has the most unique weapons in the South Pacific. No wonder they skipped Tonga hahaha but hey Tonga did conquer majority of Polynesia
Miss you watch Pacific beat After school which Dark hot times favorite chocolate

Wow ! Beautiful weaponry
I actually felt a little bad for the museum curator during this video. She kindly brought out some very valuable artefacts, hoping to interest & educate people. She then realises that she's dealing with an idiot who handles said artefacts like cheap reproductions. It was fascinating to see these maori weapons, I just wish the presenter could have been somebody a little more sensible & informed.
After all these years sully still passionate about the youth in Otara I know this man when I use to work for him at drop in centre in East tamaki in 1984 I know his brothers that used to with me at same job even know mum his really well he is well respected by a lot of people specialy in Otara keep up the work sully God bless 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺✌️

What was the species of wood that the Totokia was made from?
@The Lone Wanderer Cool! Thanks for the note! I looked around a little bit too and didn't find anything either. I know what kind of wood I would make it from if I needed one of these but I was hoping to learn about what species the authentic, Fijian warriors used. I quite like kamagong (Diospyros blancoi) wood for clubbing weapons. Very expensive and difficult to get. Beautiful to look at too. But a good crotch of hickory, carved up just right and fire hardened. That is a workin' man's weapon. My pop grew up on a farm and all the most used tools had handles made of hickory. Like Clint Eastwood said, "You can't beat a good piece of hickory."
@The Lone Wanderer Well you are a much bigger fan than I am! Quote the films as I can, I had no idea the pistol he carried in those had a rattlesnake on it. I dig that you know that AND have a memento of it preserved in your body art!
Most of Fijian Clubs were made by a wood called "Vesi". Its a Native wood. I think its called IronWood in English. Literally Hard as iron.
koa
@@jacobfreeman8198 Thank you! I now have some reading to do. Appreciate it!
Wise man.

That's a popao to be particular in Tongan language. Vaka in Tongan is a boat.
Nice! I'm Tongan and l remember back in the days when l was young back in the island some of the songs l liked l found out it was Niuean not Tongan. I think Niuean language Tongan and Futuna are really close. The word fa is sthe same in Tongan too but the leaves are called lou'akau.
