priceless footage. thank you for the pleasure!
🖤 Simply Amazing!
This song will always be on my fave playlist.
when floppy discs were a great thing 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Stephen Morris is one of the most underrated drummers of ALL time! Just watch how sharp and on he is: F*cking A-class! ☑ 👍
WHAT EFFECT DOES HE HAVE ON HIS VOICE?
When I put Power Corruption and Lies on the turntable for the first time and the opening chords of Age of Consent rang out I knew immediately that New Order shed the tragedy and trauma of Joy Division and emerged with an entirely new sound and identity. Still sends chills down my spine.
I hate seeing comments of a members not playing instruments, shut up
Anyone complimenting the band here?
happy joy division
Beautifully shambolic 😎
Blue Monday was 100% inspired and ripped off from Gary Numan influences and sounds! Hilarious Gillian popping in floppy disks into the Moog
😂i cant tell if you're taking the piss... or not 😮
Like the enormous reverb in their voices ❤
Nice to see floppy discs being swapped into the synth. And to hear bernie's lyric changes XD
I really like this version, Hooky's just blazing
He is!!!!
That's cute how Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook have matching guitar and bass during the first song. Great music too, 2 different but very influential tracks
Hook's bass is so forceful on these live versions
brilliant.
Barney the perry boy.
Sumner cant sing and is out of tune because he isnt using his autotune also his guitar is out on tune.
beautiful
What I would give to return back to the 80s.
The dream of the 80s is alive in Portland.
just Superb ! saw them live 23 years after this performance in Greece! 17years before ! Wow experience ! Like inserting into the drive a 5 1/4' floppy disk *360kb @ 8:12 "th-cam.com/video/vjmTY-X54MQ/w-d-xo.html"
salford and macc casuals..
Terrible .but that's why we loved them.without hooky their just terrible full stop
Inserting new large floppy disk at 8:11. 🙂
Morris is glad he gets a break for Blue Monday
Hooky’s bass hits me deep in the feels
Bass and drums like a motherfogger
Fabulous!
Peter Hook is one leg of the stool. Is stool poop? We need better words.
Ah. The music of the Cylon 🤖
This is awesome. All live as well. What a band. I hope to see them live some day. Hope they could all get together again.
They are on tour now in the US with the Pet Shop Boys. I saw them in September a great show.
@@ericboyle8296 for whatever reason this tour skipped Cleveland. We planned on getting tickets if they were going to Detroit, but that never happened.
@@mheberling5939 Bummer. This was a redo of the tour cancelled by Covid. Lots of East Coast dates but spread out.
Definitivamente tienen el alma de Joy Division.
My absolute fav….
Oh…only to be there.
The chance of Hooky rejoining New Order? I think there's a better chance of the Gallagher brothers reuniting. Less than zero. Sad, but the reality of the situation.
What a nice color!
These songs would fall flat without Hooky’s bass.
Awe I'm 13 again with this kick ass song!
New Order at the point where they stopped being Joy Division and found their own sound (and still liked each other). They were just unique and so far ahead of everybody else. Of course they made mistakes - they were busy mapping out new territory.
Hooky and Morris could take the entire world if they so wished
A beauty
You’ll get the hang of it someday guys
New Order were utterly brilliant pre-1987.
And beyond
very cool
New Order without Peter Hook are just not the same
05:05-06:05 Anyone notice what's going on here? Gillian is standing there doing nothing. So she starts twisting a knob on the synth. The second she does, it immideatly attracks Bernhards attention. He turns her way, leans over to practically make her push against the speaker. Then a few seconds later, she offers to help by turning a knob. As soon as she does. Bernard grabs the same knob, forcing her hand out of the way. It's ridiculous, It's like he's 5 years old. She's a grown woman and more competent musician than he'll ever be. I've seen this scenario happen in multiple New Order live videos, including the (in)famous BBC live TOTP gig.
I'd dispute the 'more competent musician' bit. New Order keyboards were famous for only using the white notes. But there is a bit of "leave it to the boys" going on. This is still very early in their development and Gillian hadn't been in Joy Division.
@@jeffblack5024 I see what you're saying. Gillian played with Joy Division on multiple occasions, but to be fair, she wasn't a member. She did however play in other bands, and was/is a skilled musician (relative, I know). And though I actually don't subscribe to the "competent" phrase myself, it was just to point out that there's no real reason to push her aside. I'd go as far as to call it "leave it to Bernard". He strikes me as a spoiled brat sometimes. But that's just my opinon. I think what it also boils down to, is that when Bernard is not busy singing, he wants to do something else. Should've brought his own synth. ☺
@@amelie5525 Probably the story of his life.
Yup Barney can be a right prick
It's like Blue Monday hadn't reached its final form. Strange. Barney has said a few times that he firmly believes that a live performance should sound exactly like the record. That's what people fall in love with first, and any deviation is a distraction from the performance. That's not to say that they haven't road tested songs before committing them to a master, though. Which is the case here. Blue Monday was released 7 March 83. This performance is 1 January 83. So it predates the release by a full three months. I'm glad it didn't keep this live form. The final version is arranged so much tighter and meaner. So great to see them struggling with performance responsibilities. Gillian is being patient while Barney is fiddling with her synth. And Hooky is going crazy on the bass. He moved almost the same way when I saw them at the Fox in Atlanta in 85. The difference is, they were so much tighter than this performance. And the sound was so loud that I actually suffered hearing loss for a long time after. Totally worth it, though. Never forgot the performance. The best concert of my young life.
And their sound *STILL* is lound! I recalling on my first New Order gig, November 2018 , São Paulo and ...pal...i thought I was lost my hearing. Fortunately it didn't last and I recovery my hearing.
@@anapaulacarneiro4175 Yeah, the weird thing is that the song that definitely did damage was Perfect Kiss, and to this day every time I hear that track my ear drum vibrates strangely. And just that song, no other. But you're right, they are louder than most heavy metal bands.
@@charlessomerset9754 For sure! On my returning from the job today, I was listening Sunrise on repeat (yeah, I'm this kind of person...) And fantasizing how a cover would sound by some current rock band. A fellow from New Order Brasil once time said about Sunrise "they did a heavy metal sound...mora than some current heavy metal bands".
i seem to remember Barney singing "and if it wasnt for your large penis" instead of "and if it wasnt for your misfortunes" at one rendition of Blue Monday, quality
'Those who came all over me' at 7.15 is another one right here haha
@@jaytotale sneaky Barney 😄
