The Brain Tumour Warrior | Joel Costello
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 1 ก.ย. 2018
I survived brain surgery, and I'm here to share my journey-no fluff, no clickbait, no sugarcoating. Just real-life stories from someone who’s been through it all: the dark hours and the brighter days, the ups and downs. I’m dedicating my time to helping others navigate this brain tumor journey, offering real answers and hope to my fellow brain tumor warriors. Rehabilitation and recovery are possible, and you’re not alone.
When I was lying in that hospital bed, all I wanted was to hear from others who’d been through the same, people who made it to the other side. Now, I want to be that person for anyone facing the same challenges. Whether it's brain surgery and the potential associated health setbacks, or dealing with a brain tumor, I’m here to show you that progress can be made and life can move forward.
I am ferociously passionate about helping people embrace positivity and find strength in the cards they’ve been dealt, empowering them to move forward with hope.

My apologies if you didn't want such a message about brain cancers as mine below. If you dont want to consider this, feel free to ignore it. Below is the basics i have learnt about mine and the two sciences as below. I recommend research to all to verify your information if you actually desire it. Good luck either way. I've had a surgery which removed 60% of a Oligodendro Glioma believed grade 2 but possibly some of it grade 3. I've researched the worlds standard belief that all tumors are caused by Somatic Mutation Theory for the last 100 years. Around 80% of cancer tumor sufferers since that time have died following either cancer surgery and/or those having chemotherapy and radiotherapy, many for the most severe cancers in brains, lungs etc which are nearly impossible to fix and remove. Many sufferers die from other body diseases because these two treatments of radio and chemotherapies, can destroy your natural health resilience and immunity whilst creating other diseases that destroy you. These treatments costs billions of dollars etc that make pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, insurance companies rich and people poor. Nearly 20 years ago, the modern scientifically proven cause of cancers was discovered from the 1950s science that was initially suppressed and ignored by all the profit making people and is currently being ignored again. Most doctors either ignore it or are not trained about it whilst the big companies don't want to lose money and suppress and ignore the modern proven science regarding how cancers are caused. Its the Mitrochondial Metabolic Theory which can be treated and cured cheaply, after proving what causes and feeds cancers with energy for cancers survival and growth, which is Glucose and Glutamine. That feeds cancer cells, that are all occured and created by the cell Mitochondria, not the cells nucleus. Go research it yourself and discover the new proven science currently ignored by modern medications and nearly all doctors. The new way will save way more patients and not cause the human internal destruction illnesses that modern chemo and radiotherapy causes. Radiotherapy should be completely ignored and banned from targeting brain tumors because of the multiple damage and diseases it can cause in your brain. Go research them both. There's science papers published and videos on both. Virtually all hospital treatment videos don't mention anything about deaths or illnesses caused by their radio and chemotherapies or drugs because of how cancers actually live.
Thank you Joel! 🙏🏼
My absolute pleasure Thank you for taking the time to comment It means A LOT :)

Hi are you smytoms getting better?
They are, but very slowly I’ll make a video on this topic to share more details
I am exactly five weeks out from having a 7cm tumor removed. Every day is like baby steps. I feel like I left the hospital a zombie and super appreciate that you are taking the time to share your experiences. Wishing you the best and thanks again!
@@TeresaDeLeon-c4w hello warrior! How do you feel, I’m so glad you’re here!!! I can tell already you have a great attitude How’s your recovery going? What deficits do you have? I wish you nothing but the best across this recovery journey Thanks for reaching out
Had brain tumor removal surgery month ago. I'd say the most annoying thing how much time now it takes to recover from all of this...I wish I could skip next few months...not launching back into things is hard but neccesary I know. We survived someone opening our head and digging into it...that's madness. Much love from Poland!
Djin dobre (apologies for the spelling) Thank you for reaching out warrior The next few months can be annoying, but you also build a lot of resilience and character Where was your tumour removed from - do you think you will have any permanent deficits, or will you recover fully? FYI I love Poland I wish you nothing but the best :)
@@Thebraintumourwarrior G'day mate, I had an Astrocytoma grade 2 in my right temple. They removed 95% of it and now I will have Radiotherapy and then Chemo from what I know. I don't have any serious deficits other than drooping eyelid in my right eye but they say that if I train it and try to open my eye as much as possible everyday it will get back in order :) Thank you for the nice words, other than resilience and character I think I am building up my patience :D Australia looks awesome too and I would love to visit but the spiders...the spiders are keeping me away :D
@ haha I love your attitude and sense of humor My mum had drooping in one of her eyes, and it cleared up and is now back to normal I completely agree with you about patience I’m also really glad they removed so much of it Take care and keep us updated on your next progress ok:)
@@Thebraintumourwarrior this is not funny...I look at Australia and think "ohhh beautiful and interesting place" but then I remind myself that almost every animal wants to kill you :D but being serious now, someday when I have more money I will visit for sure :D hope you are doing good after your surgery :) Wish You merry and healthy Christmas
@ if you do, reach out and I’ll show all the good things to see Merry Christmas Have a brilliant 2025

I wish I had your attitude. I'm going to let it win and kill me. I can't fight cancer anymore. 😢
I’m so sorry to hear that I’m not too woo or super religious but I never let that little voice inside my head say that ‘this is serious’ I would chant in my head when I get scans, ‘it’s not serious’ over and over and over until the scans later I’m not saying this is definitely going to work for everyone, but I would feel horrible if I didn’t share Stay brave and fight I’m always here if you need to chat
@Thebraintumourwarrior I have withdrawn treatment. It no longer frightens me. I won that part of the war. Thank you for reaching out to me and others. You are a good man. I just want to rest now. ❤️
I completely understand It's brutally challenging isn't it I hope that whatever the future can bring, it brings you some peace Take care:)
How is your personality your cognitive function?
I'm really grateful to be able to say, it is great. I can get forgetful and lose track of words at times, but on the whole I have no complaints How about you?
Post brain surgery what is your biggest issues?
Balance, coordination in my left hand, swallowing food, severe dry eye in my left eye
Pray you get fully recovered
Thank you Thats really nice I hope so too:)

It's honestly a pleasure I'm adding more and more videos to my page so that people can use it as a tool for whenever they need it. I have put videos into different playlists, so people can quickly find what they need - they may want to know about headaches, or dizziness, or mindset - they can go to the playlist with that title and watch the videos that resonate with them, on that topic I also want my page to be evergreen - meaning that anyone can watch it, no matter what stage they are at, they could have had brain surgery, today, tomorrow, 5 years ago or 5 years from now, my videos will always be there for them to refer to Let me know if you have any other specific questions or ideas I should make a video about:) How's things with you?
Your videos are helping me so much, thanks for sharing and being a positive light
Yes of course someones in a lot worse position in brain tumors and it’s unfortunate. Also might need more details. I’ve watched a 3 minute yt short before so think about that. And are you classified as disabled? Do you get disability pension? age? Did the doctors tell you you might live less cause of the tumor? Have a good one
Gday Mal, thanks for reaching out Sadly I can’t post shorts that are longer than 59 secs I have over 50 long form videos on my TH-cam page if you’d like to know more about my story Yes I am disabled, I have a disabled drivers Licence Are you a fellow warrior?
@Thebraintumourwarrior im not classed as disabled but i do have autism level 1 and have dealt with learning disabilities and other autism, down syndrome for 12 years of my school life and man i got stories about that lot. How is your swallowing now, Joel? I was talking to a woman today who had her tongue removed due to cancer and sh lives off of liquid meals.
@@breephoenix111 it’s still super challenging to eat and drink I have to concentrate on every single mouth full I routinely choke on my own saliva, because my body is still learning to swallow properly
@Thebraintumourwarrior it must be difficult. I now sit down and eat and concentrate on every mouthful. I live alone, and it's still haunts me. It is scary.

@@Thebraintumourwarrior I have Astrocytoma grade 4. Will soon start chemo and radiotherapy I’m so scared
I’ve been having loss of balance and nausea for around 5 months, I’m also suffering with tiredness and weakness, these symptoms have gradually gotten worse, I was put on pills (to see if it cured it) for a couple of months and they didn’t work, I had a CT scan about 2 weeks ago, just had the results and it came back as “satisfactory”, I’ve just been back to the doctor and he has prescribed me some more pills (different ones this time) but I’m not going for them, I thought he would have sent me for an MRI because I know they show up a lot more than CT scans but I’m going back to the doctors and will insist on an MRI
I’m sorry you’re going through this INSIST ON AN MRI I had a CT scan, which showed nothing, I got an MRI the very next day, as I had a bad feeling, and the MRI revealed that my tumour had grown Always go for the MRI (as you are aware of) I hope you’re ok, that you start feeling better, and that the MRI results are positive and give you peace of mind Please keep me updated with how you’re going

Hi, I had brain surgery 6montjh ago. I had severe migraine, ringing noise, speech delay. Blurry vision, I had massive brain tumour. I recovering well, and back on my exercise lifting weights. So happy ❤
This has put a huge smile on my face I’m stoked for you?! How long after you discovered it, did you have surgery?
@ i found out last April and I had my brain surgery 16 May. I have meningioma class 2.

@@Thebraintumourwarrior I’m still having trouble of naming people names, and can’t prounce the words properly specially when i get really tired. Other than that i’m pretty good, i just got my clearance from my surgeon allowing me to drive so happy with that. My sister had brain surgery as well last February this year. She said her head still sensitive.
@callinaaussievlog wow! Two in one family!!! I can resonate, my mum had brain surgery a few weeks after me My speech n voice is definitely altered too I can get forgetful and lose track of my words. You might see me in my videos, completely lose track or forget what I’m saying, I never edit it out, because it’s part of who I am now I genuinely hope you continue improving
8 cm meningioma in my parietal and occipital lobes resected two months ago in a 21 hour surgery. Found out in May and moved across the country as originally planned in July. Surgery in September. I was weirdly calm through the whole experience, but I'm now wavering because it's so hard not knowing what the future holds. my peripheral vision ahad been, unbeknownst to me w seriously lacking because of the tumour so I'm no longer allowed to drive. I innocently assumed that the surgery would simply fix that, but it didn't. In fact, my vision is worsening. But there seem to be no clear answers on what will or will not happen in terms of recovery. And now that the drama is over it's just day in, day out day in, day out of household chores, walking my dog, doing yoga or exercise and meditating, but life is kind of feeling mundane. But I don't dare take on anything bbig because as you've talked about in your videos, I do fatigue. I don't get trashed anymore, but I do fatigue and rest periodically as needed throughout the day. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts on managing the long-haul uncertainty it's draining. Thanks for your vids I really appreciated them.

My partner was also diagnosed from an ENT he truly saved her life! She went to an ENT for unrelated symptoms to her brain tumor but he wanted a CT of her nose and the mass was picked up in her scan.
Wow! Thank goodness We definitely have A LOT in common How is your partner recovering today?
Do you find it hard to sleep even though you feel exhausted? (thanks so much for the content mate! )
Great question I honestly did before having my son, and found it so hard to get back to sleep after waking up Now that I have a 13 month old, anytime I can get sleep, I do, and I fall asleep quickly and deeply (not for too long though) :) How bout you?
no wonder many of them are stupid
I also feel lucky with so much gratitude after going through a similar procedure. It's over a year now and living a normal life. I walk, play tennis and cycle as well. I'll forever be grateful to God Almighty
@@aneride this has put a huge smile on my face! You’re very lucky and I love how grateful you are Brilliant attitude
I also share in your story

I had my surgery last year. It all started with sudden onset of severe headache. I'm fine now going about my normal activities. I love sports, I play tennis, cycle and walk alot of time. I went on break after my surgery but I'm back on my sporting activities which I love so....much. God is good, all the time.....
@ I love this for you Thank you for sharing I love your positive attitude too :)
Do you have seizures and how do you deal with them!?
@@cheffy777 I don’t have seizures, other neurological challenges, but not seizures. Do you?
I@Thebraintumorwarrior I have partial Seizures effects on the right-hand side, I partial seizures involved my right arm my hand and my legs my face What other Neurological challenges do you have??
@ I’m so sorry to hear that. Must be so challenging. My entire left hand side is severely uncoordinated and I get tremors in my left hand Another random symptom I get is severe eye, when it gets really dry it gets so blurry, I cannot see
That’s amazing, my little one has ataxia on her left arm and leg! We are inspired! ❤❤❤
@@rubekabowen9193 we have A LOT in common Was her surgery in the Cerebellum or brain stem?!
Congratulations on life! ❤

One topic suggestion: building a routine? Is it something that helped you? If so, what would be the considerations?
@@Mikey123-qv5kg boom! I’ll make a video on this Thank you for suggesting, it helps me make content that our community wants to hear about
