Suggestion: put UV glue over the body tinsel and set with the light. Then tie on micro pine squirrel. Also, when finishing the fly behind the bead, paint the UV glue on the thread and wrap it 2-3 times then whip finish over the liquid glue. Trim the thread from the bobbin and then set UV glue with the light. Tie in Black, Olive, Natural tan, Purple and White. Play with different colored beads and body tinsel colors. Subtle colors on cloudy days and brighter colors on sunny days. Jerry H.

My method: Cook over medium to medium-low (Skin side down). Add 1/4 to 1/3 cup water and cover. Don't flip fish, just let it steam till done. No breakage that way.
We'll have to try it! Appreciate the tip. Any particular seasonings or anything specific things you serve it with?
@beyondtheriverllc My whole procedure is: Preheat nonstick pan (med to med-low) and add 1-2 Tbsp oil with 1 Tbsp butter. Once butter is bubbling a little, I add the fish, skin side down, that is lightly seasoned with blackening seasoning. I let it cook uncovered for about a minute. I then throw in some asparagus and 1/2 to 1/3 cup water. Cover pan and steam until fish is done. This usually gets the asparagus done also, but if the asparagus is underdone, remove the fish and add a touch more water to the pan and up the heat for a couple of minutes. Pull when the asparagus is to your liking. NOTE: Blackening seasonings are all over the place when it comes to salt. Sadly, it's a trial and error thing. I personally use Louisiana Blackened Seasoning or Everglades Heat, but you know how it is. You ask 10 guys what their favorite seasoning is and you'll get 10 different answers. Hope this helps.

Are Copper Johns not legal in competition because the wire is considered weight and has to be covered? Would covering the wire with epoxy make it legal? I actually have no idea. I know people use French flies in competition which are just lead wire covered with resin.
Great question. I have no idea I would have to ask more experienced comp guys that fished in worlds. The ruleset is super weird some times.

Are there any times C-F should be used in front of A-B?
Definitely. In cases of mass hatches where there a lot of bugs of one species and the fish are keying on them then absolutely. Something like the mother's day caddis happening soon those caddis patterns I thought were ugly would probably fish really good. And in the middle of summer the worm will catch fish, but the UV Nymph in the B slot would likely out fish it.

I have the privilege of living within a half HR of the first river that the brown trout was planted in , in the USA . I fish the flys only stretch of the pere Marquette here in Michigan a few times a year , when you finally lay your eyes on a brown over 24" it is life changing . Now I'm talking about a river brown not one out of lake Michigan ( different animal) .
I here that I've got some huge browns from lake Ontario but not nearly as special as the 23 River brown I got in PA
Headed up to trout camp here in northern Michigan , munching on smoked whitefish .... Got ya blasting in the truck .... 2022 trout opener boiiiiii
