As a financial advisor in Portugal, servicing Americans living abroad and Europeans with U.S. based retirement accounts, I can assure you that a Roth IRA is not tax free as was stated. That is the growth or earnings of a Roth. You pay taxes on a Roth at the time of conversion or income. Is the treaty in place between the U.S. and France favorable to a Roth conversion? Perhaps. Anyway... there are a few things I heard here that I would correct...
RE Wise: I use it just fine for 5 figure transfers, they are almost instant…
No mention of IBKR ? They offer forwards and have the best exchange rate Also No mention of the price of a forward contract? Lastly: Monabanq seems to open bank accounts for US persons remotely FYI
Basically just a sale pitch for money corp. pretty disappointing
How about the high inheritance taxes, forced heirship rules, and trust taxation?
Forgot to talk about the impact of the new French exit tax (even if there's a credit, it's unclear how it would apply) and inheritance taxes, forced heirship rules
I used Hadida Tax for French tax impact for consideration of moving to France. He was great. Very informative and explained details well.
The woman on the conference interrupts way too much with comments that do not move the conversation forward.
Thank you for the information about voting as Americans abroad. Many items I had never considered.
It seems to me that there are tax conventions between Italy and the USA which enable USA citizens who become Italian residents to NOT be double taxed on any and all declared income. Taxes as a general rule are applied in the country of your residence. In this case if you become an Italian resident you will pay your taxes in Italy. As a general rule outside the 7% tax program, taxes in general are higher in Italy when compared to the US, however cost of living, property taxes and a number of other expenses are lower. The best tax treatment can be achieved through the 7% tax, provided that you are willing to live in a smaller town in Southern Italy, Sicily and perhaps Sardegna. In all other areas of Italy consider paying an average of 28-32% tax on taxable income up to 60,000-80,000 dollars. These are approximate % yet close to real tax cost. If you are earning a combined income of 100,000 dollars be prepared to pay $25,000 to $30,000 in tax. You may have some tax credits that will reduce that amount. For US citizens, cost of medical coverage in Italy is very low and some Italian regions (not all regions) have excellent medical infrastructure and care.
Incredible. I believe in investing and working because I love luxury . when a buddy of mine recommended me to a financial advisor. We spoke about investments and money. I began investing with $120,000, and after two months, the value of my portfolio was $314,800. You think this is crazy, but I choose to reinvest my profit and become more intriguing. We have been working together for more than 10 years, consistently turning a profit. a year ago, opened my first restaurant and bought myself a brand new car last week.
Daniel is young, wnd Im wuite aware that the French like to discuss with everything, but please, don't mix politics and sales, it's really quite offensive especially if you're trying to obtain clients, you're not the only service out there.
The Same tax treaty applies for Canadians and Usa on pensions and interest income?
my us premium is 150/mo. my co pay for standard checkups is 0. My brother's premium is 0, fully offset by credits. "The US is the MOST expensive" is not necessarily true. Still moving to France. 😁
7:15 inaccurate numbers. Don't draw conclusion from these.
Too all over the place.

Paying state tax when not living in that state @%@&#*#*
With potential changes to the UK taxing worldwide income, I believe we will need more updating to this material
Great video, thanks for posting the recording. One thing I’d just like to note for other viewers is that the value of Roth IRAs (but not traditional IRA) are in fact subject to NL box 3 taxes yearly.
We can't hear Mr Singh
If you’re employed in the UK & you do backdoor Roth in the US. I know that you pay Income Tax in the US on that backdoor conversion but will you also have to pay tax in the UK? Thx
Perhaps the French penchant for universal healthcare is that they logically deducted long ago that the invisible hand of market capitalism needs price transparency and tort control, and that health services don't lend themselves well to that and therefore needs to be provided under bureaucratic control. Seems like there are a bunch of countries around the world doing this very successfully without thinking about it as "socialistic" and all the negative connotations associated with that.
Any tax videos put there for canadian retirees?. Also in Canada we have federal income tax and provincial income tax
Could you supply Ruben’s email address? It is incorrect in the transcript.
Hi Laura, of course, it's reuben@df-direct.com.
Very useful and frankly if one has significant US IRAs that one wishes to ensure pass to the next generation, France will confiscate your assets. So unfortunately we just got a reason to not stay long term. We’ll just enjoy while we are here.
It is stunning how uncompetitive and unfair this is. Everything I have was generated through 40 years of work and savings. There is no chance France will get its hands on it. I know one can’t live their life based on taxes but this is my kids’ lives. Au revoir France, this is bullshit.
So, if I understand correctly, it is possible to live in France full time and have a company in the US? I am French living in the US for 35 years, my husband is American. We both have social security, also my husband has a trading company. So, would it be possible to purchase a property and live in France full time, and for him to trade on US platforms? I guess in this situation, we would pay US taxes only?
Daniel speaks way too fast to understand.
Getting a Mortgage in France ??!
Very thorough.
Bonjour! Excellent video. Very informative. Thank you! We are retired American educators with modest social security and pension payments (45k), and very modest rental income(16k). We had been looking at Spain, France, and Italy because of their healthcare systems. But, Spain and Italy would tax us more than France, and France has better healthcare. Is my perception correct? 60k per year is taxed less in France than in Spain, correct? Thank you. Merci! Dean & Cindy

Very informative! Appreciate all the "free" help you're providing to people like me - still sitting on the fence but leaning forward heavily... :D
The sound on Christine is so hard to hear and understand
Thanks guys!!
great info, thanks!
Does the trust issue still apply when a US parent has a trust and the adult children live in France are the heirs and all assets are US based (home, bank and investments)?
What about the contributions that you make to the German pension? I’ve heard that those are deductible in the USA
The audio on that lady sitting in the white room is so hard to understand. It’s digitizing and then the reverb. I had to scroll forward through it. Seems like good info, pity only about 2/3 of it was intelligible.
I was thinking of Portugal to retire too but France might be the way to go as they recognize Roth's. I'd need to do something about Estate stuff though.
But I want to know that if you call in the next 5 minutes, do we get a set of ginzu knives!?
This was all really helpful information. Thank you for uploading it publicly!
Very informative talk. Thank you!
This is a pretty unhelpful video and it looks like there are very few follow up answers to many people’s good questions. The production level of the video is poor too. To be honest I feel like this reflects poorly on your company but thanks.
Five years ago I can't even find oversea filing videos! When I need to for the first time.
Just making it more and more complicated like the US medical system, would eventually lead to a rebellion and revolt. See why Trump is becoming popular is proof.
Unless you can take alipay or wechat pay or credit card from China, I don't know how to pay for the US tax filers. My brother and sisters say they help, but when it comes to action, they won't even let me use their credit cards for this purpose, and reimburse them later with my bank transfers from HK...many more examples...
Are us govt pensions, such as U.S. federal govt and military retirement, VA disability compensation for disabled veterans, social security? Between military retirement and VA disability, I bring in just over $100K/yr…when my wife retires from her federal career, she will receive over $50k/yr; then she will likely receive the max Soc sec retirement and I’ll be close behind.
vocals on the dark hair women is very eco like.
You have to read, understand fully your individual situation and Fatca/Fincen rules very bad only the US has them.
