VW Scirocco Mk2 Scraper seal fitment guide
Seats are jag xjs i think
@@user-tg3to7sn8q yes your correct, I found out after videoing what they are. Thank you
Its asking to be built into a track car mate, interior already stripped and knackered, some bucket seats, engine tweak. Build as you go ;)
@@heathsworkshop100 I did kinda think that. But also thinking I’ve most the parts to make it a nice car again
Not that crusty considering where it comes from, good pick! 🙂 For the roof molding, what did you use? I really like the looks of it and am looking to replace the ones on my car too
@@jean-marclestic8150 no it’s not too bad, few hours welding and it’ll be all solid again. The roof mould I made from fibreglass but I am planning on making some to sell at some point as the originals are becoming very hard to find in good condition
@@dreadnoughtcustoms Thanks for the answer, I'll keep an eye on your website then 🙂
Ooh, you breaking that? 🤔
@@Fatboy4pie nope, not breaking any currently.
Nice what’s the story with the Tropic? It’s a rare model I thought they were European only. OE restoration would be good in my opinion.
@@RobertWilkins-u5z I have done another video which goes into a little more detail I think. Basically this was imported from the Netherlands in around 2004 I believe, I picked it up about 18 months ago. Yep euro model only, around 2400 made I think, some this colour and some a kiwi brown
😎😎😎🌶🌶🌶👍👍👍
Great update mate :)
Cheers Heath, as you can see ive been working on my editing skills over the xmas period
That is a great colour 👍👍
I'd keep the Tropic standard under the bonnet, just get it super clean and tidy.
Hi bud, do you sell any spares at all? I have a 84 GTL and having bother with the sunroof opening on one side, worried about taking it apart due to lack of parts! Love your channel. 👍
@@Fatboy4pie hello mate, yes got a load of old spares and bits n bobs. If you email me through the contacts list on. The website or pm me through insta/ facebook , let me know what ya need and can see what I have
Very useful video. I have a 1985 Mk 2 scirocco GTX and it leaks into the drivers footwell. I've been offered some new golf mk2 sunroof drain pipes but I don't know if they are the same as a scirocco. Would you know if they fit? Cheers.
Glad you found the video helpful. The drain pipe is just a piece of tubing so could be the same, however you’ll need to remove the roof lining to replace it so you’d need to be very sure there’s an issue with it first as that’s a big job. I’d say it’s unlikely the hose needs to be replaced, at worst it’s come disconnected from sunroof tray.
Thanks, much appreciated. @@dreadnoughtcustoms
I'm getting a 1988 Scala 'barn find' for free which should be a fun project. Dry stored in a garage for the past 20 years so hopefully in decent condition (haven't been able to fully inspect yet) - will probably get shot if it starts getting too pricey but can't complain for an upfront of £0. Very helpful video, will definitely be using it when I do my full inspection.
Thanks Tom, Really useful. Putting my 87 Rocco GT Auto back on the road after its been sleeping for 32 years - yes, it leaked when I've washed it so I will g through your recommendations.
Sleeping for 32 years! Hope you get her all sorted and out on the road again
Documented 24000 miles from new! She is running now and will be on the road this year. Some of your parts now fitted also.
@@richardlawrence2218 excellent, hopefully I see it about
What is that front light/grill setup?
It’s a single lamp mk2 golf de badged grill which has been cut to length
@@dreadnoughtcustoms looks nice! So you have no high beam with that setup or euro doesnt have seal beam and you can just switch the bulb itself for one with both high and low beam? Will the mk2 grill be too short for a us light setup?
@@mastermoi I’m not sure on the US setup, but uk the main and full beam is on outer lights so makes no difference
Thanks for a very useful video. In the bit about where to look for rust at 8:14 you say that rust around the rear beam mounts is the worst place for rust, can rust in that area be repaired (albeit with time and expertise) or is it actually not possible to safely sort it if it’s gone too far?
Hi, it’s definitely fixeable, repair panels are available as they are the same as mk1 golf, but it’s probably not a cheap repair depending on how much you can do yourself
Thanks for the quick reply! Do you have a link for the repair panels you’re referring to please? And do you plan to get more fuel filler pipes in stock?
@@rally_yellow yes I’ll hopefully be getting more filler necks at some point soon. Here’s a link- www.classic-vw.co.uk/mk1-golf-rear-beam-mount-repair-section-left-side-171801391-15179-p.asp
Thank you 👍🏻
Heard so many reports of people giving up with GoPro as they have lost footage. Just got the new DJI camera and am impressed so far. Hoping to do lots of walking around car shows with it in the new year. They do the pocket with the built in gimble or an action which is more like the GoPro range I believe.
Thanks for the heads up, ill give the Dji a look.
@@dreadnoughtcustoms Loads of reviews on TH-cam!
Love the video, but god the intro sound is pure ear rape
Nice chat bro, can't wait to find out about the front grill
Hopefully get it sorted next week
You are the man!
I wouldn’t go that far!
Will have the lights off the rear end if you end up scrapping it
Unfortunately they are bonded on so can’t get them off easily
Yeah - good stuff thanks for this vid.
very useful, thank you. My scirocco boot is leaking from all weak points so I am addressing them one by one
Glad you’ve found it useful
How have you sealed the rear lights?
@@JackVincent I haven't yet solved that! Tried various butyl sealant tapes which have not worked. I have the original seals so may use Dowsil 785 Sanitary Sealant or similar to bond the seal to the lights, then use it to seal to the body. I haven't been able to find replacement seals
Hi mate, messaged you over on the register to see if you had a rear panel cut available? My rear valance had to be cut out due to rust, so hoping you might be able to help!
Hi Dave, pretty sure i replied during the week. register forum has been iffy for me lately. ive got an early rear end with a valance but they are different to the kitted ones. if you could send me a picture of the bit you need ill see what i have.
@@dreadnoughtcustoms you're a star mate, thank you. Will send you a message.
Love the video, Tom 👍
Cheers Eric
Hey Thomas - how's the hack holding up so far?
So far seems ok. I’ll let everyone know and get pics in my next update video
Nice update, My mates got a B2 - He may be interested in parts you don't want
Yeah send him my way, there’s a fair few bits I won’t be needing
Any chance you're going to reproduce the small Euro pumpers they're impossible to get in the States now.
I’ve been thinking about it. Might be something for the future
it was beautifull untill ...... yeah i hope that tic tac crap comes off
Nope it’s staying
@@dreadnoughtcustoms aww man
@@dreadnoughtcustoms hows other folks reactions to that ?
@@RPS34V loads of black roccos about. Only one tic tac
@@RPS34V mainly positive, few people don’t like it.
Hi Thomas! I love the car. Could you tell me your Wheel/Tire specs? Cheers!
Hi 😄👋 I love your videos you explain litteraly everything ppl need to check before buying. 👍 Just a quick question : Do you have any adress or retailer name for some High Beams ? I have a 1989 GT II and I'm searching everywhere to find one of these Hella high beams but seems like it has disappeared...
Thanks buddy 👍🏻 the inner light high beams?
@@dreadnoughtcustoms Yes exactly.👍
@@basilenw2445 get in touch with Joost, he should have done although I think he’s away at the moment so don’t expect an immediate reply. scirocco-delen-eimers.nl/
@@dreadnoughtcustoms Thanks a lot 😉👍. I'll get in touch with them as soon as possible.
Hi, I would like to make a suggestion, the wing mirrors on a MK2 Scirocco have an underlay trim which mates between the outside of the door and wing mirrors, I am pretty sure most on the Scirocco's are cracked or half on, have you thought about making some? I think there would be an interest from MK2 Scirocco owners. Many thanks great video.
HI Alexander. yes ive actually been working on some forged carbon mirror base plates. im going to see if i can also make them from resin.
Muy bonito tu scirocco. Cuídalo yo también tuve uno. Saludos desde veracruz mexico.
Greetings. there are a lot of nice Scirocco's in Mexico
Get a staorage building for all the sciroccos should all be saved.. The day may come they can be converted to hydrogen electric or something that hasn't been invented yet the scirocco body is classic
I hope you restore the Tropic.. I also have a Tropic.
Yes it will be restored.
Thank you for the English plates with Dutch number for my Scirocco tropic
@@robbakker4681 not a problem.
Great stuff! By the way mate, on the turbo outside, is that front bumper off a japanese model? I love that JDM square numberplate.
@@dreadnoughtcustoms I'm guessing they're difficult to track down then!?
Hey are the taillights on the one that’s chopped up?
No tail lights are good but unfortunately previous owner sealed them in, I’ve tried getting them off but no luck. They’ll probably get damaged if I do manage to shift them.
As a Dane it kinda hurts watching you chopping Sciroccos, here it's difficult to get a mk2 especially a nice one. I know right hand drives ain't is attractive as left ones. Still love your vids even though i personally would rather own a full oem one :)
Yes I really didn’t want to chop them up but I didn’t have any luck selling and needed the space. They will keep some others on the road though.
Following your builds and channel Thomas, awaiting the video on the custom rear lights.
I’ve half recorded it but it was a bit pants so need to do it again
@@dreadnoughtcustoms also with the Audi, try the classic page for advice if needed and maybe spares, just some help buddy i thought i'd share.
@@andygraham2325 thanks mate. I’ve joined a number of classic audi pages and have checked out the Audi classic website. Few small parts available but seems the majority are not.
@@dreadnoughtcustoms if you struggle for parts, the classic Audi group has a few members who may know of parts available.
Sorry Tom, love your work but is this Dreadnaught Customs or Dreadnaught Scrappers?
I’ve tried to move the cars I’ve chopped to good homes but no one was interested. Parts will keep others on the road. I also had to make room quick for the Audi.
I've got the 1.6 in my GT that I'll be bringing to national again this year. The 1.6 engine is weedy D:
I’ve never driven a 1.6 rocco. I’ve heard they can be fun.
@@dreadnoughtcustoms They certainly can be, but not quite as much fun as a 1.8. You can have a go at the nationals if you like
@@aneurinprice6135 maybe, we shall see
Try driving the 1.5, even more weedy :(
Car looks amazing, well done on the award.
Cheers Jez
Great result Thomas,rocco looks well.
Thanks Andy
great video mate
Cheers fella
Whats the rear disc set up Thomas please?
I’m not too sure tbh mate, was on the car when I got it. Not really looked at it closely.
Would you be showing making the custom rear lights Thomas, still have'nt done mine.
Yes that is on the list as I’ve gotta make some for this car soon.
Love watching the progress buddy.
Cheers Andy
Hello from Finland. Mirka Finnish stuff 🇫🇮
They produce good products 👍🏻
Those Eyebrows..for US spec headlights?
They are designed for euro lights but can be chopped to fit the US lights. im working on an eyebrow for US lights which ill hopefully get finished this summer at some point.
Thanks for this April update on your Sciroccos 🇬🇧 Great to see you putting some Carbon Fiber parts on you Sciroccos 👍👍👍 Will you be offering these Carbon Fiber parts on your website in the future?
Yes i will. I've a few things to finish on my own cars and then ill be spending a large chunk of time developing new products including a number of carbon fibre parts. Thanks for watching.
There's only one good thing about turning an old car into an EV.... It makes my original stock scirocco even rarer and more special. I'll let you get back to destroying a classic.
