El mejor guitarrista de todos los tiempos. Impresionante Barney !!
Meravigliosa
Barney my love!
Una versione magnifica ! Barney che emozione !
There is no point to kill a jazz guitarist (with a shovel, - for example). There will allways be a new one coming.
Not his usual guitar. It looks like a Herb Ellis 165. It’s a humbucker as opposed to his normal Charlie Christian pick up. It still sounds exactly as he always does - absolutely wonderful! Fabulous video and thanks for posting.
The woman I rented a home from for many yrs was the youngest daughter of Jazz pianist, Jimmy Rowles who accompanied Tony Bennett on the 1965 recording of this Great American Songbook gold nugget composed by Johnny Mandel music & Paul Francis Webster lyrics
Perfeito
such an amazing musician. What an innovative interpretation.
One word. Exquisite.
This is a contender for the greatest solo guitar performance ever IMO. It has so many layers of meaning and is so perfectly rhythmic.
É sempre bom ouvir Barney Kessel.
i especially like the riffs in between the riffs

Listening to this after 25 years playing guitar makes the guitar seem as exciting and mysterious as when I started out at the age of 13
Having been fortunate enough to catch both Barney and Joe Pass live, I can report that they caught the audience's attention with [amongst many other things], exquisite plectrum work. Joe's rendition of Cherokee was the only number he played with a pick the night I saw him. It was breath-taking. Barney was such a great all-round musician and a genuine, humorous and wise human being. RIP both of them.
_but how?_
He's one of those guys showing us that guitar isn't a monophonic instrument, he has all my love
missed out the great Ray Brown on double bass in the Poll Winners.
The master of chord-melody without a doubt. HIs series of 4 albums 'The Poll Winners' from 1958-61 with Shelly Manne on Drums is a real pleasure to have and to listen to. Another from 1976 'Soaring' is all about chords.
a giant......
This is so BRILLIANT!. I'm so glad that I left the rock world to transcend to this wonderful world..JAZZ world! Thank you Mr. Kessel
Yes I can't play rock or even normal blues anymore...compared to the seduction of jazz they just don't appeal anymore!
Me too,
Funky!!!!
fenomeno.....
jajajjajajaja LIKE
I've heard every big jazz guitarist, and I love Joe Pass to death, but - this - is the best "chord melody" I've ever heard in 57 years of listening. Yes , I like Lenny Breau , Ted Greene, etc. But Barney just hit this one so far out of the park it's amazing.
Correct !
Amen bro!!
Lenny Breau is the GOAT!!!
Wow. Espectacular.
his knowledge in chord melodys are unmatched.
Barney Kessel+modified Gibson ES 350=magic
Kessels version captures the emotion of Stevie Wonders song in a marvelous way!
flamenco garbage lets see some tap
He's truly great - but what about George Van Epps"
why is the dinosaur Barney on suggestions list?
EVERY note phrased perfectly...........
Sweet, Sweet...
@loksinsan Give us 20 years. It takes a while to learn
Barney was all complete Maestro"
jajaja que bueno Jaime. Son súper expresivos- Yo también tengo un boxer parlanchín. Un abrazo
sweet : )
That is TOO good, I can't take it!!!
With a single flat pick, Mr. K is getting clean melody, rhythmic chords, bass and a bit of percussion, brushing the strings. I know that Chet became famous for sounding like two guitarists, but this clip of BK sounds like a whole string band!
where and when is this recorded?
ポール・ウィナーズ、いぶし銀、バーニー・ケッセルの"いそしぎ"~偉大すぎるジャズ・ギターの巨匠~彼の影響は計り知れぬ! #jazzm
@loksinsan if anyone is "jazz guitar chord melody king" i have to give it to joe pass
like !
esta raza es una d las razas mas increibles...dado que son llamados " los perros que nunca envejecen"
I love this.
A table. A candle. A glass of whisky. Two girls, and Barney Kessel. Perfect situation !
Nice job, you almost fooled me for a second or two.
Wow, Kick ass job! Great playing and killer tone too!
Pure Kessel - pure genius
