I really like the cracks in the rock where there is no room. Simple and effective. Much better than the angled three-line ore dots that are often seen.

im a D&D BECMI player but Rolemaster GM since early 1980s. I started playing Stormbringer rpg at aged 13 which is compatible d100 system with Runequest. Last year I bought RQ 3rd edition and im just starting to explore possible settings to play for a RQ campaign. I have Griffin Mountain which has 7 detailed adventures, a table with 93 rumours! It has more quests than you could get through in 3 years of regular play. Griffin Mountain has some nice adventuring options such as [1-3] exploring into the wilderness in search of legendary magic items (The Wind Sword, The Iron Crown, Heartpiercer spear), [4] encountering giants in their mountain lair, [5] finding/taming a new species of giant hawk (Griffin) or [6] investigating a dark entity of chaos on Festering Isle or [7] exploring a castle rumoured to have been frequented by a vampire god. It recommends player characters begin the campaign as Balarazian hunters (primitive tribes people). The tribesmen have 5 cults to choose from which give different benefits. Im aiming to run a one-shot of 3-4 short sessions later this year if i can find a group of keen players. As someone with a busy life and a chronic injury in my painting arm, and who has recently had some tragedies, I really appreciate this video.

The setting is the complicated part, the game itself is deceptively easy to grasp once you get a foot in the door. The setting is one of the oldest ones in the hobby though and it has volumes of lore and history. It's daunting to get into but more than worth the effort.

I think people see it as complex, especially coming from 5e, but it's really a matter of getting the basics down and most of the stuff on the character sheet are only used occasionally in the game. It is a bit to wrap your head around, but the basic idea is pretty simple and intuitive, it's a percentage system, roll a d100 on or below and it's a success. I also think in many ways it's easier than D&D and makes a lot more sense than the level system. Like in real life you don't go up in levels, but you practice a skill and if you are successful, you get better. You also don't gain more hit points as you get older, but you can afford better armor and have better magic. The BRP system really fixes a lot of problems with the leveling system, I'm really quite fond of it.

Just want to throw out there that Blackwater Creek is a fantastic scenario as well.

If you find it a bit too complicated, grab the new Basic Roleplaying System book and just grab some simpler combat rules! It's an amazing world, and I am kinda mad at Chaosium that they did not modernize this system more than they did. But. It's a Stafford Game, so they want to be true to his legacy I suppose.

Runequest is definitely more difficult compared to the average modern rpg but not that much really, the d100 mechanich is pretty straightforward and the learning curve is not that high overall, yes combat still sucks (something that most old school runquest players agree on) but frankly, combat sucks in most rpgs anyway, you just need to get used to it.

Compared to D&D or PF2e? Much simpler. More complicated than Cairn or AGON? Definitely.
