Ok, secret is out now. I'm an "semi" retired Independent Security Research who is trying to Pay-It-Forward by bring totally new beginners into the security industry because of the huge shortage of qualified people to fill positions.
I started out in 1997 and spent about 10 years as an illegal hacker and then turned Independent Security Researcher around 2007(8) working mainly for DoD sub-contractors on malware attribution and vulnerability analyst among other things.
You're going to learn things through this series of training that you won't learn ANY WHERE ELSE. I have seen most all the security channel here on TH-cam, and at least the top selling security courses on Udemy and SkillShare to see exactly what people are learning because family & friends, have told me they spent a lot of money and still are confused. So I made this channel and apparently it has taken off with even with my boring, not edited, videos.

That dude uses generative AI to create pictures of black people looting, or congregating en mass, and then captions it stuff like "New York is saying no to homelessness" or "Nyc is rioting" Genuinely, some of the most disgustingly racist content I've seen on TH-cam lmao

Learn the basic of IT. A CompTIA A+ is a good start. Next learn about Networks and Linux. The rest do your research
If you know "absolutely nothing" then ANYWHERE! would be a good start just to get going.
@@CyberSecJourn Ive been gathering a lot of information about cybersecurity, I've done a little coding so I understand basic CSS and HTML as ive worked with brackets to create my own web page before, but I may have lost that little zip file. Most of these courses kinda cost $$ which is unfortunate because I'm VERY broke, but im pretty interested in the area of cybersecurity analytics because I just love data and and don't quite think my hacking/programming skills are that of a red / blue team member... but slowly learning. Appreciate all the information given.

@@horstlneumann8506 No disrespect taken I'm just here to give people a different point of view, maybe a little glimpse into an area they only wondered about, and to hopefully get more people into the cybersecurity field by helping them get their certs. I don't have a cert but I'm sure I wouldn't have a hard time passing one "but it's just pointless in my situation because I wouldn't be hired anyway and would be just a waste of money." But I respect your opinion and that's why I like John Hammond and David.

I would recommend though. With these longer videos & raw footage. A camera or something with movement in the background while you talk would do you so much justice the people these days with phones attention spans are extremely low. You wanna grab and retain the people you have to set the hook in 12 seconds. After that and with anything to pull attention you’ll notice those algorithms move in no time promise. 💪
I'm not here to market to visitors. This isn't a e-commerce site, marketing site, etc. This is for people looking to learn the Cybersecurity field to get a job and actively doing so and I just provide FREE video training "to complement their current training" and giving my advice from a true "ex-illegal hacker turned ethical independent security researcher (with a touch of Grey)" point of view. This is going to be a VERY LONG and difficult journey so if they have problems with attention spans then my suggestion is McDonalds is hiring.

The hands on is coming but depending on what specifically you're looking for it could be awhile. I'm going to start everyone out learning Networking and then the terminal because this is where you will be living for most of your time. You can't get anywhere on the net "as a hacker" without mastering Networking and the terminal. The terminal is your vehicle and the Network is your highway. You can't even leave your house without having knowledge of either one.

Starting the morning right 👍 We should start with network fundamentals! I’m bogged down with all the protocols and behind the scenes things going on when hosts communicate with servers.
Definely, Networking is where I will be starting because it's in the terminal and on network is where you life will take place mostly so both of these will have to be second nature to you above anything else.
@@CyberSecJourn I agree there’s no point in using tools like wire shark if you don’t understand TCP, UDP, ARP and ports. That was me when I opened wire shark. I had more questions than answers for what I was seeing. I watched your last video and it made me start questioning what was on the tool.
