What spectral analysis app are you using?

This is the first pedal in my FX Loop on any amp. My signal chain is pretty long, with 40 different pedals in the . I have a preamp pedalboard with 16 pedals, dedicated to increasing gain and distortion (fuzz, boost, overdrive, distortion, feedback/boost from FZ-5, to BD-2, and all the overdrive, distortion, and metal pedals to end at MZ-2). It adds clarity to the distortion pedals so that they are not so muddy, especially when stacked. Immediately after is an SP-1 Spectrum, which is a single band parametric EQ and acts as a boost into the remaining effects in the FX Loop. I dial in the levels to align with my attack (the red light blinks when I pick, no matter how light). Depending on what other effects are in the signal chain (vintage pedals add some tone suck, even with the proper isolated power supply), I have to tweak it a little to dial in the sweet spot for what I want to get out of everything.

Brilliant video, totally explains why this pedal sounds awesome on my electric piano. I wish more pedal videos had spectrum plots <3

If you need a spectral analysis to prove that this pedal does something then it probably will not be of any use to most people.

You should use pink noise for this kind of full spectrum analysis.

Mine has no hiss at all but thats because I spent a bit of time, replacing stuff inside with higher quality parts!! lots of Japanese Panasonic capacitors

Does anybody try to use this in the loop fx? Before most distortion pedals or preamps will help to cut mudy lows and crushing highs.

What's happening is the clean signal is always being passed at unity gain, but signal is also sidechained through a 2nd Order High Pass filter, then mixed into the output. The Trebly, High-Passed signal is envelope controlled in order to, primarily, add brightness (lots of treble) to your attack, then die back down after your attack and not raise the noise floor or introduce hiss. The Inv side of the Mix knob is blending in 180* out-of-phase treble, which cancels with the clean treble, bringing the overall treble down, but as you crank it counter-clockwise, it overpowers the clean signal and the phase cancellation goes away, and it does more-or-less the same thing as mixing in the non-inverted high-passed signal.

Great analysis! I use one on a jazzmaster with super thick chorus. It really makes the chorus separate from the original signal.

Does nothing? Try it with a Vertex Steel Strings- it will make your teeth ache and your eyes bleed - in a very “treble “ way. I find it amazing with a boss blues driver. They are scarce now, don’t over look them if you are a tone perfectionist.

I have one and my best use for it is after my Waza Metal Zone to kind of take some of the ice pick out of my ear. Very misunderstood pedal. Awesome video man. THANKS!
