I got 3 high priests cards in a row but they were all fool cards and a hanged man card too which was a fool card too and that was all in one deck scamming game

Shade's can be difficult because they're whole thing is doing nothing, which any other ghost can RNG into doing simliar stuff. Shade's also can give false positives of spirits if you chill in the ghost room, or if they just... don't hunt like in this case. The biggest giveaway is usually an abundance of airball events, shades prefer to do those over any other event. I think in your shoes I would've gone with spirit too, overall good game.
