The platform where I have the train run through is just a large piece of foam packaging that I carved out the edge. You can do that with a knife or a hot tool. When I get packages in the mail especially large ones I always save the foam so I can use them in my displays. Its definitely cheaper than purchasing it.

No, unfortunately I dont have it in a step by step. I need to try that style at some point. Its a difficult thing to film because I am always working on it late at night when my children are asleep. Maybe next year Ill Try to do it

Not at all! You can set up an all season village and that would be beautiful. I would recommend that you use a green base and add snow during the winter holiday. You can add easter eggs and bunnies in the spring time etc. You can find seasonal fairy garden items at the dollar tree in spring, and summer as well that could help you set the scene.

I used to store in a storage unit but I downsized big time and sold most of my stuff because I just moved. That was definitely painful but no worries a fresh start ❤️

This is a great question and the answer is that it depends a little bit. So a couple of factors come into play. Firstly to answer the question in an easy way, yes, if you use only one brand the village will be easier to display in a cohesive way. However, I find that I pick up pieces for my village in so many different ways that I style them in a way to bring the look together. For example I tend to get a lot of pieces after Christmas when they go on sale. So from a budget perspective you will have some variation but save lots of money. Another point is people like to gift this type of item when they know you collect, so again you may end up with other types. Or like in my case my kids will see something they just love and I go with it. So it really depends on how you will collect. Using different elevations in your village will help disguise this by placing similar sizes on the same level. I hope this helps!
