    9. Hard Eight 8. Licorice Pizza 7. Punch-Drunk Love 6. Magnolia 5. Inherent Vice 4. Phantom Thread 3. Boogie Nights 2. There Will Be Blood 1. The Master (you're bugging putting it at 6 all due respect, the ending is sad and beautiful and sardonic and poetic and everything in between)

Mank is actually my least favorite by Fincher, I kinda fucking hate that move. The performances and set/costume design were all really good, but I found it extremely boring and the old-timey look he went for sucked ass in some scenes. Sometimes it was pulled off well and looked like an old movie from the time, but there were so many more scenes where everything was so sharp and clean looking, it was obviously just a digital camera shooting in black and white. He put no effort into actually making it look like film and it really bit him in the ass throughout a lot of it. Since I didn't care about the plot I was focusing on how cool everything looked, and each scene that looked obviously digitally shot was completely ruined for me since I couldn't even appreciate the nice aesthetics that were set up. I would have accepted a well-done filter at this point but he didn't even do that. Another reason why I love The Lighthouse so much, Robert Eggers shot on a real old camera.

Shelley Duvall adamantly denied any mistreatment by Kubrick. It was a myth initiated by Dr Phil. PS Lolita the novel is very funny. Nabokov is a comic writer.

Fun channel to find! Zodiac would easily top my Fincher list, but I love that you had Panic Room higher than last. I remember seeing that in theaters and it wasn't as high art as his other stuff, but it was suspenseful! Love The Social Network, Fight Club, Se7en, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl too of course.

Great video. I adore David Lynch, all of his films (haven't seen Dune), Twin Peaks, and his book Room To Dream. So glad you had Mulholland Drive at #1, I think it may be the best film of all time. I'd probably rank Wild At Heart a little higher, but otherwise this was an amazing list!

Poor Things was pretty overrated imo. I couldn’t get into it, idk how it was supposed to convey its message through Emma Stone acting like a child and having sex non stop. Like wtf am I supposed to understand? Anyway my top 5 of 2023 is simple Killers Of The Flower Moon Oppenheimer Anatomy Of A Fall John Wick 4 Talk To Me

So: you haven't even watched two of the movies he's written. Why do you think a retrospective from your point of view is in order? Go watch those movies, read 'Antkind', and maybe then you'll have some point of view worth sharing - though I highly doubt it, judging from your myopic arrogance thus far.

His sound design is super immersive especially in theatres. I've never once had a problem hearing the dialogue. I hear this a lot but I do not understand why it's a criticism and not a positive. I real critique of his would be his fight choreography is extremely poor in comparison to everything else he nails.

That video at the beginning was something else. Kubrick movies always have at least one intense scene of just two people talking. In 2001, it was the two of them talking about what they were gonna do about HAL, in the Shining, it was Jack talking with the ghost bartender, in Clockwork, it's either Mr. Deltoid's little talk with Alex in the bedroom or the discussion at the end with the Minister of the Interior. Barry Lyndon of course has several. And yeah, the masquerade orgy scene in Eyes Wide Shut is one of the most viscerally disturbing I have ever seen.

you need to have some sort of maturity to realize the absurdity as a kid watching all those absurd events unfold was somewhat normal as a child, as an adult i watch those cartoons while thinking about the process people went though to come with those cheesy cartoony ideas which i can't help but laugh with
