Kept Pushing, Made It Happen! Never Give Up!!! Last Day Success!!! First Gambels Quail Aquired!
มุมมอง 49310 หลายเดือนก่อน
The day started out as the last two had with no birds and big game all over. A bunch of antelope and white tailed deer spotted. Around mid day I saw a large gaggle of turkeys which I did not expect to see in the high desert. Drove to few different spots on the western and eastern side of the whetstone mountain range. It was coming down to the wire. Last day, last few hours of legal shooting lig...

Running, Evading, and Disappearing! Still got 5!
มุมมอง 49811 หลายเดือนก่อน
Walked 15 miles. Saw one large covey of 20 to 30 birds. Found a pair of birds in another area. Got a double on both birds. It was perfect weather and an awesome hunt. Ended up hitting 7 and recovering 5. @XtremeUplandAdventures #federalammunition #finalrise #firstlite #gopro #shotkam #sitka #tetrahearing #berettaa400xtremeplus
Still seeing awesome numbers of Valley Quail! A perfect end of December hunt!
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
Walked over 15.5 miles. The day started out slow. I only saw about 10 birds the first half of the day. Around noon I got onto a huge covey of 40 to 50 birds. I hit 3 that I didn't retrieve and 8 that I recovered. Saw about 70 to 80, possibly 120 to 130 birds. An awesome end of December hunt!
Another Awesome Valley Quail Hunt!
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
Walked over 17 miles. Hunted from sun up to sun down. Weather was a perfect 50 degrees and was sprinkling in the morning. Hit 10 birds recovered 8.
California Dove Season (Second Part), Limited Out on Valley Quail! Mixed bag with Mourning Dove!
มุมมอง 4.5Kปีที่แล้ว
Had an awesome hunt! Walked 14.5 miles, saw a bunch of Dove and Quail. The Dove were fairly easy to hunt so I decided to concentrate on Quail. Ended up with 4 Mourning Dove and a limit of Valley Quail! #finalrise #federalammunition #sitka #firstlite #gopro #tetrahearing

Second day out, Limited Out!!
มุมมอง 484ปีที่แล้ว
Had an awesome second day of the season! Bird numbers are phenomenal this year from what I have seen yesterday. I'm blown away by both dove and quail numbers. Unreal!
Have you gotten a chance to clean any birds with this thing? Wondering how many ducks this thing could clean before needing to be sharpened.
Yes I have cleaned 12 valley quail so far. Seems to be holding it's sharpness very well. So far, I'm impressed.
Great video man 👏🏻
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
No shirt no problem. I mean no dog no problem. I started out during my teenage years without a dog. Then I had a GSP for about 10 years. Now I'm without one agian. It's good with a dog but it is like having another child if you're ok with that. I feel I'm a better hunter without a dog tracking and finding wise. We get too spoiled with a dog doing most of the hunt. I have the exact gun. Great hunt, retrieve, and shell pickup!
Awesome, thank you! Your explanation is perfect!
Nice video, was that a original choked that came with the gun or aftermarket choke. Thank you again for the video
Thank you. It was the original choke that came with the gun.
No dog?
Not currently, unfortunately.
I feel your pain. Desert quail can test your resolve for sure. I've camped in the area at the beginning of your video and it looks like it would have quail, but I think it gets allot of hunter pressure. There are probably pockets that are loaded with quail there, but have no idea where and the area is huge. Good job pushing until you got them, that's what desert quail require.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
I applaud your efforts, at least you are giving your all! Hats off to you, sir!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Southern Az is absolutely beautiful! Such a special place! Great video!
100% couldn't agree more with you. Blown away by everything I was lucky enough to see.
I went to Sierra Vista in Cochise County in November last year. I had never checked out that area before. My plan was to try and hunt some quail. I had no idea where to go. I was so blown away by the beauty and the vastness of the place. It seemed like everything is 40, 60. 80 miles away. It's 30 miles from Sierra Vista out to I-10! I never uncased my shotgun the whole trip. Instead I decided to just drive around to get the lay of the land. I made a 200 mile loop on Hwy 80 from Sierra Vista to Bisbee, Douglas, to the Gerranimo Surrender Monument. Then up through Rodeo New Mexico back up to I-10 West to Wilcox. Then over to the Chiricahua National Monument. Everyone needs to see that place! It is mind blowing! I went back to Sierra Vista after that. I'm going back again this year, for sure! The scenery there is unbelievable!
Did you see alot of quail when you were driving around?
Not really. I saw some areas that might have held birds. This year I'm going to contact the manager of the unit at AZGF and see if they can give me some general locations to check out. I usually hunt up North near Aguila.
Nice! I’ve been talking about getting over to AZ to hunt Mearns for years. Conditions, drought & life have not lined up though. Sounds like half the upland world ends up out there after Christmas now. I think I missed my window of hunting them without seeing another hunter all day.
Yes it was crazy packed with people on a weekday. Very unfortunate.
Very cool! Loved the frame by frame imagery near the end of the video. When I’m trekking up hills for quail and chukar, these days I switch from a 12 bore to a 20 bore over/under. They’re just so easier to haul around and very light weight.
I agree. My 8 pound beretta becomes a pain after walking for miles and not seeing anything so I totally understand. Thanks for subscribing!
Great little quail hunt man good stuff! 💥
Thank you for subscribing!
Nice hunt! What gauge, shot size and choke did you use here? Thanks.
I used a 12 gauge beretta a400 xtreme plus with a modified choke. Ammo was federal upland 1400 fps 1 1/8 ounce steel shot size 6.
@@XtremeUplandAdventures Awesome, thank you. Great video!
Thank you for subscribing!
Nice👍

Good little quail hunting action great one man! Love to see it!
Thank you! I appreciate it! Thanks for subscribing!
Looks like a dog is in order
I would get a gsp if I didn't live in an apartment.
We had crazy good numbers of quail in imperial county CA this year. We went out yesterday and there are still tons of quail.
That's awesome to hear! Especially with the rain we are getting now it should make for more impressive bird numbers next season!
My son and I were saying the same thing yesterday, supposed to be another big year of rain for us. We had lots of good dove trips in September and November also. We saw more dove this december than I can remember in a long time. @@XtremeUplandAdventures
Yes I agree. The Dove hung around way longer than they do most years. Was seeing great numbers of them as well.
Nice hunt Brotha, what Shotgun and ammo are u using and Is that private land or public if you don’t mind me asking.
I'm using a Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus with a modified choke tube. Shooting federal upland 1400 fps #6 steel shot. It is public land but there is some private land around.
If you want to hunt over a Pudelpointer let me know. Doesn’t look like you need a dog though. Doing good on your own
Thank you for the offer. I really appreciate it. I do alright by myself but there are definitely times that a dog would be beneficial.
Thats awesome keep the videos coming…I use a Benelli M2 12g and a Franchi Affinity 3 waterfowl elite 20g for my upland hunts also reload all my hunting shells…
Awesome! Reloading is alot of fun! Benellis are excellent shotguns!
solid work brotha, been doing well here in socal, not to give any spots away. not sure where you are, but would like to message you privately
I hunt in Santa Barbara County.
looks like were hitting quail in similar areas then@@Ps5gamer-420
Nice video brother , where you hunt at ?
Santa Barbara County.
Just curious, why the off center zoomed in shotkam with stop motion frame rates?
I need to adjust the reticle or turn it off. Also just trying to show the birds that got hit and got back up.
It seems like you have some good hunts. But I find the slowing down the playback beyond what the camera framerate is capable of playing back smoothly and digitally zooming in on shotkam footage an interesting choice.
@TheRoamingHazard First time using the camera. Still figuring it out.
Buddy, I've hunted quail for 50 years...and many a time in the area I think you're in: my best recommendation is that you get a good pointer/dog. Not everyone has the space or time for a dog but if you do, you'll bring into your life the best friend and hunting partner you'll ever have! Making multiple hits on a flush and retrieving those birds is so hard and frustrating at times without a good dog. Love your shell collection; a man after my own heart. Happy hunting! :)
Thank you. Yes I agree. Unfortunately I live in an apartment currently, but would love a gsp eventually.
Bang , Bang meat for dinner
Looks like new Dixie mine road
I like to go for chuckar hunt with you 😊
I love chukar hunting!
Just like the comment below.Policing after your self is cool 😎
Thank you!
The content of your videos is awesome but the camera FOV makes them hard to watch. I think you have the superview/fisheye enabled. If you have a GoPro try switching to wideFOV or Linear.
Thanks. Will do.
Some setting suggestions with the GoPro. It appears that the hindsight is reaching the default 15 minute timeout. Took me a few years to figure out this was even a thing. Anyways look into installing GoPro Labs firmware. It'll allow you to customize things that you can't normally adjust. You can input a custom hindsight timeout value in minutes. So 60mins works for me because I have the camera set to auto power down at 30. Which is fine because the camera beeps when it does that but does not with hindsight timeout. You'll get all those shots on camera that way. Also auto boost on the stabilization should eat up that recoil bounce. Good to see your running into birds back there.
Yeah its my first gopro. I have an old Sony action cam that I tried using but it was a pain. I was more familiar with that camera but it doesn't have any nice features compared to the gopro.I will definitely look into getting that firmware. Thank you for the tips. Much appreciated!
@@XtremeUplandAdventures It's basically a must do if your going to use it for hunting or fishing. The hindsight turns off after 15 mins otherwise, which kind of defeats the purpose of it.
I know that exact area. my dog loves being out there with me. It’ll be cool. If I run into you out there someday. Keep up the good videos.
Awesome! Look forward to seeing you out there! Thanks for subscribing!
@@XtremeUplandAdventureswhat area is this im trying to get out this season for quail it will be my first time trying to find as many places as i can
It's in Santa Barbara county.
Good shit homie!! Aim small miss small!
You know how we roll Brother!
I have noticed a solid difference in stopping power moving up to #5 shot. I was getting too many runners that got back up with 6 and smaller. But im a terrible shot lol. Sick vid love your content.
Thank you so much! I will definitely be looking into some #5 shot next time I stock up.
Not many show the shell pickup. Hats off brotha! Sub earned!
Much respect! Thank you very much!
Good hunt, I hear the whistle but where's the dog?
I live in an apartment currently and don't have the room for a dog. I would like to get a German short haired pointer eventually.
With the yuppies
San Bernardino County?
Santa Barbara County.
@@XtremeUplandAdventuresThat desert chaparral is “Santa Barbara” county? Really? 😊
Yes it is. It's the eastern part of the county.
Nice habitat. Central Cal?
Yes sir!
