ZR2 Datin Shock Skids - Installation
มุมมอง 4782 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I install the ZR2 shock skids from Datin Metal Fabrication onto a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Bison
What's your shirt about?
Do you know if the chaincase oil mixes with the hydraulic fluid by chance?
The chaincase oil does not mix with the hydraulic system. The hydraulic reservoir is behind the cab.
How much it cost
This is the exact same model of Simpson pressure washer that I bought and also from Lowes but one thing that I don't understand is why they don't come in Simpson's original box.
Where did you get that replacement seat?
Okay, you made this video 2 years ago. What is your 2 year review on the washer ao far?
Do you still have your 2022 Colorado Zr2 ? how is it holding up with routine maintenance
Undo the nozzle put glad wrap( sandwich plastic film doubled over the cartridge nozzle & screw the extension nozzle back on) & put the tube into the refrigerator until needed .
im want to buy one
Anybody tell him bout the red shipping cap?
The engine oil dipstick is misleading. These engines are intended to be filled to top of the fill port to where the oil just starts to run out of the port when pressure washer is sitting on level surface. Some people have just looked for oil visible on the dipstick and considered the oil "full". That's not the case and many have ruined their engines.
How heavy is this machine?
Woah my whole unit came damaged. Oil all over Box destroyed Handle bent Tank bent
How do you add soap?
It doesn't hold soap, only injects it from your own batch, through the pump and out the wand. He didn't show the chemical injector.
Why are there two engine oil caps. One with dipstick and one without. ***not talking about the pump oil***
hows it working so far
Working great, I almost always run it full speed, a tank of gas only lasts a few hours of use. No issues whatsoever (I use it maybe once a week)
So that little top that you change has nothing to do with filling up the oil? Because I was about to fill it up through there lol
The yellow / red cap? That is for the pump oil - not the engine oil. If you add oil there, the pump would be over-filled and the engine would be empty. Hope that didn't happen!
Keep all glued in the fridge to last longer
Thanks for the video. How happy you are with your CRX engine?
Thank you, so far so good. It starts up first or second pull with the choke which I disable immediately after starting. The CRX engine runs loud and strong - uses more fuel than I expected, but I keep the idle high. I've probably only got 20 hours of run time, but haven't had any issues yet.
You did a top notch job on making this video. This really helped me make a more informed decision on buying this product. Thanks man.
Thank you for those kind words. I'm glad you found it useful. I'm just an average joe looking to share my experience with this hardware. So far I'm still happy with it.
I was thinking about getting one of these so I was hoping I could see what it could do. Unfortunately, I didn't find what I was looking for. An electric pressure washer can get the mud off a truck and rinse a driveway. Surely you didn't buy that for that. That's way overkill , that's more for softwashing and cleaning concrete.
Used my amazon bought simpson twice won’t start tried everything on you tube fix no go looking at it on the bench broken cooling fins redrilled mounting holes on frame dang I bought a returned refurbished homer simpson ready to take it to small engine repair shop
Thank you. This helped me out alot!
That's great to hear, thanks for the feedback. I don't use my machine very often, so I take some short cuts. A professional probably would have replaced the fluid, but I wanted to do it on the cheap. So far no issues!
I used the OEM bolts, I couldn’t get the replacement bolts to fit in the nut.
The problem with the Simpson are the majority are manufactured with AAA pumps these are not the same quality as Annovi Reberbi,Cat,General,Karcher,Comet .I would strongly recommend another brand
So it's worth spending 300 more dollars on a pressure washer for the cat pump?
When I bought my 3400 psi Simpson in spring of 2022 one of the big selling points for me was the Cat pump and the Honda GX engine.
@@clintsaines9274God yeah, you can't beat a cat pump. AAA makes shit pumps, i don't know why Simpson put them on their machine
@@billyvice1520that’s because Simpson (Subsidiary companies) manufacture their own pumps (AAA) and their own engines. 3years on engine 5 on the pump is pretty good for a sub $1000 4gpm pressure washer.
I didn't read the other comments, but you don't want to go above 1000 psi when washing a vehicle. And it looks like you learned that lesson the hard way already ;) I also noticed you used it with the red plug still installed on the pump. Next time you may want to read the directions before you burn out your pump...
Thanks for the feedback, someone pointed out I used the wrong cap. Good catch!
I can't seem to get the hose to work that you use to place in a bucket for soap.
Hi, what nozzle are you using? If I recall correctly the manual states only use the siphon tube with the black (unrestricted) nozzle. I tried it with a different color nozzle, but it didn't produce much soap.
You need to be using the soap nozzle for starters. If the psi is too high, then you'll have problems getting that injection into the hose. May need to adjust pressure unloader
DONDE PUEDO CONSEGUIR EL MANUAL SERVICE ???
Compré el manual en ebay, ¿qué información estás buscando?
What a great video. Thanks!!
also i forgot to mention when washing items its not the pressure that truly matters its actually the gpm or gallons per minute that makes things clean faster and better. and id love to get this machine but i dont have $1,000 atm lol
quick tip the reason it wont ship with oil in it is because then it COULD be considered hazardous goods and shipping costs would go through the roof. the only reason you saw oil on the dipstick is because the manufacturer tests EVERY unit before it gets shipped out. even my 3,400psi machine came with some residual oil and fuel from the testing process!
Thanks!
I do believe the red oil cap on the pump is a shipping cap and has to be replaced with the black one. The black one is a breather, the red is sealed for shipping.
Thank you for pointing that out - I just checked and you are correct, the black / yellow one has a hole through it. Glad I didn't throw it out, good catch!
You are very welcome, trust me you're not the only one. I looked through the instructions 3 times and it never said what it was for. Luckily I found it online with a diffent models manual.
Thank you, this really helped out. need to reseal my plate on my 01 753G. the tidbit about the stripping out the case bolts was good!
After I got the plate off I discovered that the front case weld was 1/8" high preventing the plate from sealing. it was pivoting on the high weld spot, took my grinder to it with a cutting blade to reach it. Now it sits flush and seals well.
Great to hear - I've had 6 hydraulic leaks already... seems as soon as I fix it, the next one downstream goes. Thanks for the feedback!
Unless the grar shifter was changed for 22, yours has been changed from the "t" style all previous 2nd gens have
How’s it holding up through washes and stuff?
Seems ok - I took it through a pretty deep crossing last weekend, and a down a dry wash the day before. There's a few small dings, but the other wheels picked those up too. The touch-up paint has not failed any worse than the other paints. For all the little scuffs that frequently happen, I don't think it's worth removing the rim and doing the extra prep... next time I'll just sand it on the truck, clean it locally, and spray it. Slowly working past that "new truck" mentality..
how long do you think you can go before those chains either skip or break?
Good morning - I thought about that after posting this... I don't think it matters if they skip occasionally since they aren't timing anything, I would just lose wheel traction under load. Could become annoying. The teeth on the sprocket still looked good, so I suspect I'll be good for as long as I own it (I only use it a few hours a week). If it becomes an issue I will replace them (chains are ~100 bucks or $200 from Bobcat.
What kind of oil do I need on the engine of bobcat skid steer 1979?
Hi Ran, What model number is your machine? Looks like there were a few different engines for that year. I don't have the manual, but will keep an eye out. Per Bobcat: "A 10W-30 weight oil is a common factory-fill for many current production machines. It offers top performance in temperatures typically ranging from zero degrees F to 90 degrees F and above. A 15W-40 weight performs well from 25 degrees F to 110 degrees F and above." Synthetic or synthetic-blended oils are formulated with additives that can extend oil change intervals and promote longer engine life. A 5W-40 weight synthetic oil is usually capable of providing protection in harsh conditions as cold as minus 40 degrees F and as hot as 120 degrees F. If you plan on keeping the truck long term get a proven oil catch can these engines are notorious for oil mist coming back into the engine I have a 2018 and I bought one immediately after I noticed enough oil by my turbo to look like a small leak
Thanks for the tip - Based on an internet search it appears you're not alone. I picked up a Mann / Hummel from Sasquatch but have not installed it yet... Hoping it doesn't cause an Engine code. I'll design something to mount it this weekend and video of the installation.
Nice truck. Looks like it has wheel spacers. Your tires stick out past the wheel wells. Mine don't! Looks good!
I have this same truck with the 2.8 dmax. I currently get at the time of this post. 30-34 mpg and this is the bison version. I had to fly to Missouri and drive it back to Florida. I got mine at the last minute because I found out GM was getting rid of the diesel option on the new 23’s. Even though I the new 23’s look badass . Anywho the diesel version is great over all I think both inside and out. Great video man!
Thank you, and congrats on your truck! I envy your MPGs.... I have about 2k miles on it now and average ~25 mpg. Did you do anything to improve the fuel economy? I sure hope it lasts - I'm very happy with it and agree it's all around a great choice.
@@kytodd7802 right from the dealer I stopped at a parts store and swapped out the factory air filter for a K&N filter and got hot shots EDT fuel treatment. My truck currently has a tad over 5k mikes on it. That’s all I have done to it at this point. Really can’t do much without voiding the warranty. But once it’s gone then I’ll be doing some extra mods to maybe even put a EPA compliant tuner on it. Iam not a big fan of “rolling coal” as I see that as a waste of fuel.
I can’t tell from the video but will this unit fit in the back of a regular car
Pretty close fit... I'm 6ft tall if that helps. I doubt it would fit in the door opening unless you have a hatch back - I would think a truck is your best bet. its probably 75 lbs
I have the same unit, I should fit pretty easily, if not the handles come off easily
Very thorough video. I'm in the market for a ZR2 or Z71 with the 2.8. Would like to see someone share the same data with a deleted and tuned setup. From what I am seeing online they're getting closer to 30 and up on a diet. Either way it will be a good jump for me. I have a modified Silverado lifted on 33s and I run E15 in it. It averages 13-15mpg. I do mostly highway driving so the savings will be a little bit each fill up. If I did the math correctly and being conservative 25mpg for the ZR2 I would save almost $500 a year. (15k miles) If I can squeeze that fuel mileage to hit 30mpg it's almost a $1,000. Well worth it to me.
Thanks Matthew, sounds like you have a nice truck - I like the size of the Colorado, but it's not pulling anything close to your Silverado! I saw similar results for the Z71 (30 mpg) from Repair Geek. A Z71 might have been the way to go for me (mpg, towing, cost) though I do enjoy taking the ZR2 off road. I have dreamed of a delete & tune... but don't fully understand what I'd be getting into for such a late model year. I have very limited experience with modern diesels, seems like a lot of ECU spoofing. I mainly want it to last.. Oil catch can is next on my list, will keep an eye out for good tunes and mods to boost MPG.
@@kytodd7802 my silverado is setup to tow, offroad and overland. Wish I could send you a PM to talk to you about it. Be glad to do so. I have been a technician for 12 years.
Well done Todd
Amazing and ridiculous .... you're really gonna call manufacturer for another input water screen ? What is this world coming to?
@David RobertsPathetic.
Yes it's cheap and easy to fix (I did...) Maybe a simple zip tie would have prevented it? A reputable manufacturer appreciates that feedback so they can improve their product.
For a $900 machine in a market littered with machines less than half the price - yeah you bet I'd be emaing them asking for a replacement if it arrived damaged
I heard from other yt videos that your suppose to turn on the choke then turn it of after u start it so it won't have problems, does it really matter and how should i do it when starting up the machine ?
Also where can u get the gas and what type should u use?
@@Escapemindprison HI, thanks for the comment - I just use regular 87 octane, then add a shot glass of that fuel stabilizer. I think Simpson recommends 'low ethanol' fuel because water is always near the equipment. Ethanol absorbs water, which makes your gas go bad. If you use the equipment a lot, regular fuel is fine and you can skip the fuel stabilizer. The gas will be consumed before it goes bad. As for the choke, I found I only need it on the first start of the day (cold) - I did not show it in this video (started it off-camera) Once it fires up, I immediately turned it off. If it's really cold out, you might need to run it with the choke for a few minutes. If it's really hot out (or the motor ran recently), you may not need the choke at all. The sound of the engine will help dial it in - smooth fast idle is what I like to shoot for.
Thanks for this wonderful video,it will help others like me to know how this equipment works.I have the exact same model that I bought last month and I just used it for the first time yesterday 07/28/2022 but one thing that I just don't like is the way that water keeps gushing out from the point at which the water hose coming from the tap connects to the pressure washer. Is there anyway how that issue can be stopped or is this how all of them operates.I will really appreciate your help.
Thank you for the comment - It should definitely not be gushing out of there. Mine drips a little bit, but not bad. Did you install the rubber piece with the mesh screen? (Shown at 5:14 in this video). I fully seated mine with pliers, but I think tapping it in with a medium socket would have worked too. If you did install that, maybe try tightening the hose a little more to the machine using a small pipe wrench? I put the wrench on the hose, and then tighten the black knob with my hand. If the tip of the hose is damaged, that would prevent it from sealing too. Hopefully it's just that seal. If it leaks BEHIND the knob (closer to the pump) then we might need to remove the knob to inspect another seal. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
@@kytodd7802 Thanks a bunch,I really appreciate your response and advice.I will sure let you know how it goes.
@@kytodd7802 I don't really understand why Simpson is so careless to leave the o ring/filter/mesh screen loosely in the box that it eventually gets crushed/damaged.This is the same thing that happened to mine when I was unboxing the pressure washer, you are even lucky in your own case that you are able to salvage it to be reused,in my own case the screen was smashed completely and when I got in touch with SimpsonCleaning the guy that I spoke with said that I should buy another one from Amazon and the one that I got from Amazon is flat and not concave like the original one that c ame in the original box although it is a Simpson part.
@@abibodlogistics Sorry to hear that... I expected better customer service from Simpson. Hopefully that flat filter seals your leak. It should function as well as the concave one. Any luck fixing the leak?
