Ok, so I know I can't sing, but this gives me a chance to put out some of the songs that I wrote and others that I like to play.

I did a version 2 years ago, with Joey Gregorash, because I love the song, and wanted to add a little "me", to it...but I think that this was their song, way back in 1972, by Ray Price, She Wears My Ring

Hi Nancy, the version I used for this video was by Dick Nolan...as for who wrote it, I'm unsure...some google searches suggest Roy Payne
What’s the name
Hello! We listen to it every year at this time. Unfortunately, one of the most beautiful songs at Christmas is still relevant in 2023. One of my children, who was also born in July 1977, works in the city of Chateau Thierry. I haven't gotten there yet. I wish you all the best. Eve
No more BROTHER WARS!!!
Always listen during Christmas! ❤
❤️ Beautiful from Western Kentucky
God is always with you even if you don’t know it he puts you in places alone so it teaches you to know he will always be with you and will help you
I'm 78 now but when I was a lad my grandfather told me that he was there and how much this day meant to both sides. A soccer game broke out in the muddy field and the German marching band started playing; but not to be outdone, the British band "returned fire". At the end of the day, soldiers exchanged buttons off their uniforms to represent their unity on this day of peace.
Know it's not the season, but I ran across this ( my favorite version) thought I share a little good 'mo-jo'..never wrong to share a little peace...
It breaks my heart that government leaders, selfish dictators, terrorists etc. etc. can make the decisions to go to war but if you ask people on each and every side if they want to fight, nearly all would rather live in peace with their loved ones instead of killing people they don’t even know. If we followed the second commandment-Love your neighbor as you love yourself-whether a Christian or not, this world would be safe and beautiful for everyone!!!
Please... Please don't take this song away youtube!!!! Please don't make us pay to hear this!!!!! we all need to hear this!!!
a war fought against a brother, at the behest of a banker. if not for the …banks… , we’d be fighting wars against the yawling vacuum of space.
Faith, hope, and Love... And yet the greatest of these is Love snow white
Oh, the snowflakes fell in silence Over Belleau Wood that night For a Christmas truce had been declared By both sides of the fight As we lay there in our trenches The silence broke in two By a German soldier singing A song that we all knew Though I did not know the language The song was "Silent Night" Then I heard my buddy whisper, "All is calm and all is bright" Then the fear and doubt surrounded me 'Cause I'd die if I was wrong But I stood up in my trench And I began to sing along Then across the frozen battlefield Another's voice joined in Until one by one each man became A singer of the hymn Then I thought that I was dreaming For right there in my sight Stood the German soldier 'Neath the falling flakes of white And he raised his hand and smiled at me As if he seemed to say Here's hoping we both live To see us find a better way Then the devil's clock struck midnight And the skies lit up again And the battlefield where heaven stood Was blown to hell again But for just one fleeting moment The answer seemed so clear Heaven's not beyond the clouds It's just beyond the fear No, heaven's not beyond the clouds It's for us to find it here
I waited and waited for someone to post this. Love it. Thank you ❤️!
My grandpa and his 2 brothers fought there, extremely ugly, dirty, warfare. Garth, who i like alot, is dreaming. That was the worse of the worse, WW1, great thought tho
does someone know the actual voice for the song cause i like the french version more than the english lol
It's Terry Kelly...terry-kelly.com/store-digital-downloads/a-pittance-of-time-cest-si-peu-de-temps/ He has an English and French version...I posted this with his permission, but there is a video on his DVD
Terry posted the French version th-cam.com/video/XcjnqM6KQsQ/w-d-xo.html
This song is amazing. If you liked this, check out Bella Wood by Garth Brooks. Same sentiment, just different genre
This is truly beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes.
Merry Christmas from Germany. Frohe Weihnachten. Thanks for sharing this song.
May we someday find a better way. Merry Christmas to my brothers and sisters in arms.
Silent night was originally written in German. "Stilla Nacht, heilige Nacht" "Silent Night, Holy Night"
Merry Christmas 2022
Fröhliche Weihnachten mein freund und stille nacht!
My dad introduced me to this song 2 years ago he passed away today I play this in his honor
My condolences for your dad's passing.
What a great song, truly beautiful. Have only just recently heard it.
I remember standing in Iraq and looking at the stars and thinking is this the sky the wise men looked at?
My Great Grandpa was there
Truly a song fitting for not only this christmas🎄 season but all the past and future christmas seasons with all the crazyness we humans can cause in the world
Eat your cereal
This song gets me every time
Me too
It's a shame we all can't get along
I had no idea that this song existed until now but it's absolutely amazing I love it and it's based on the Christmas truce of ww1 between the axis and allied trench troops when they should have been trying to kill each other but chose not to fight on that day unless I'm mistaken that is sadly it was the only time that this event would ever happen between enemy forces as it was never allowed to be carried out ever again after that onetime occasion since it was declared strictly forbidden to do not long after the Christmas truce in the trenches of ww1 had taken place IF WHAT I'VE READ IS TRUE AND ACCURATE THAT IS REGARDING THE BIT ABOUT CHRISTMAS TRUCE BEING DECLARED FORBIDDEN IN THE TRENCHES AFTER THE ONE THAT OCCURRED DURING WW1 BUT IT MIGHT BE WRONG. Yet ever since then there has never been a Christmas truce on the frontlines of any wars
Heaven not beyond the clouds it's for us too find it here
Christmas truce
The battle of Bellaeu Wood was fought in June 1918, not during the winter...
If i remember right at the end of the video was there not a man who put a wooden cross on a plinth
There was a Christmas truce, unofficial though it was and there was meetings in No-man's Land between German and allied soldiers,m but only at Christmas of the first year of WW I. But the high commands of both Central Powers and Allies made certain it would never happen again
Beautiful song based on a true story about the Christmas truce of 1914 when in the middle of a horrible war peace broke out
no it wasn’t
@@justshifty They did call a truce on Christmas however they didn’t get up and sing obviously. That’s why he said based on a true story.
My grandad was in this but except he played softball
This song always makes me cry after doing my family genealogy I found out on my dad's side of the family we had 2 family members fighting against each other one one the German side and one on the American side and I am Hoping this happened to them that faithful night
what a great song, never heard until today.
Based on a true story about the Christmas truce of 1914
It is so good to hear this actually from Garth Brooks and not a cover. It is my favorite Christmas song.
I was thinking the same thing while listening to the song... Happy that it was actually Garth Brooks, and not a cover of the song. 👍🏼
It is a good song though I don't know if it was written about world war I world war II or what was called the blitzkrieg war
It's WWI. The Christmas truce was a real historical event in 1914.
I do not do social media… but this needs a comment. From my heart as a US Marine… Thanks for posting this.
Every time I hear this song I never fail to feel the spirt radiate throughout the cords. In this song God spoke through Garth. "Heavens just beyond the fear". Take It to heart.
Amen my friend ❤
This actually happened back in world war 1
This song makes the tears fall. Just picture this happening in your mind

The NYE "truce" had nothing to do with Belleau Wood but I like the song. My grandfather, 2nd Division, 23 Regiment, 3rd Company fought at Belleau Wood on the 5th and 6th Marines' right--the "Devil Dogs" of Belleau Wood. The only division in the US Military in WWI that had both Army and Marine regiments.
