Anyone know the name of the song when Karen’s doing her speech?
No mention of the request for assistance to the Irish government which resulted in six fire engines being sent from Dublin and a further three from other counties. The bombing of North Strand in Dublin shortly after with the loss of 28 lives was thought to be retaliation for this assistance.
My grandfather an ex world war one vet, from East Belfast was a firefighter when the luftwaffe hit Belfast, and ended up fighting the fires, side by side, with a fireman from Dublin, he never lost his respect, and gratitude, to those brave men, from the Republic all volunteers to a man, who came up to help when we needed it most, Thanks to them that there was still a city to wake up to.

My mother lived in 10 Willowfield Street during the blitz. Her and her mother were moved to a relatives farm. Her dad was in the merchant Navy. She remembered it till the day she died

It remained in place until the French collapse in 1940. Note the absence of Northern Ireland., and the 2 dotted lines. Especially the one on the left. On the basis of the information provided by the British Government, the Government of Northern Ireland Kept Calm And Carried On! Civil Defense planning began in 1937/8 for the rest of Britain. There was no need in N.I. , an authoritative source, the British Government had a map which said so. The raid on Clydebank may have been a wake up call, but how many additional shelters could have been built between 16th April and 15th May?
