Nutkhut is an ideas-led performing arts company, producing and touring high quality work primarily outdoors, moving indoors when our ideas take us there - traveling from the public park to the front room to the gallery or arts centre - as our projects suggest. Based in London, but with work that tours the UK and beyond, we animate public spaces and involve artists and audiences by mixing performance, dance, film, participation and a distinctly British comedic sensibility and eccentricity.
Nutkhut exists to fulfill the creative vision of its Artistic Directors, Ajay Chhabra and Simmy Gupta.
Projects develop around a single idea and grow to involve artists and audiences. Each project is unique in concept, scale and ambition.

A Spectacular Success: Diwali in Farnborough
The first-ever Diwali celebration in Farnborough, held on Friday, 18 October 2024, proved to be a stunning success, drawing over 700 residents into a vibrant tapestry of lights, music, and dance.
The event not only marked a significant milestone for the community but also showcased the passionate efforts of Nutkhut, the arts organisation behind this magical evening.
“It’s so special to present a magical parade with residents of all backgrounds and all ages coming together to celebrate,” remarked Simmy Gupta, Artistic Director of Nutkhut. “The curiosity in the children’s eyes when they were making the lanterns and then parading with them was simply special.”

Also there was Girmth in Suriname, they brought by the Dutch to Suriname. By the ship Lalla Rookh in the year 1872..this happens when India was a Britisch colony, also indians brought to Britisch Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, to Jamaica to Barbados etc.etc.

Does it mean, the calcutta and madras was so hidden and secretive for 45 years that the people in India didnt know about the agreement system? every historian tried to write their own version of stories, and mostly madeup the events to dip their hands in funds allocated to make believe.
My ancestor story of Girmit may not have greatest of beginnings but their future generation will flourish in their new homeland. As a great great great grand son of an Indenture lobour from Guyana/Trinidad one love to my diaspora Cousins
