Connected like this and fan no turn on. Connected my masterbuilt drive back on and fan runs, but cant adjust temp. Fuck
Probably your switches or wiring. The stock controller kicks out more voltage than the FireBoard so it can afford more of a voltage loss through the high resistance switches. We have another video where I discuss that issue.
Local BBQ dealer had trouble selling the Franklin and finally sold their last one after discounting 30%. They now are a Workhorse dealer and can’t keep them in stock.
Offset
Why are lead times to long?
We fabricate them in house; supply and demand has been challenging. That being said, we are working on ways to cut the lead times down and get them shipped quickly while maintaining quality.
@@ericrowley6930awesome I’m just impatient lol I ordered one on the 19th and the upward baffle. Can’t wait to get the extension so I can put them both to work! The baffle is surprisingly thick and fit perfectly. If the extension is of the same quality I’ll be a happy customer
Will that cable work for the char griller 980
Unfortunately not
How are the cooks for the upper shelf any issues being closer to the top
These help greatly…you want to create distance from the food to the fire on pellet grills to soften the heat. Our recommendation is to cook on the top shelf, then fill the bottom shelf as needed.
@@TheBBQHQ is there enough room top shelf for butts
I'm glad I went to Lowe's. That let's me know it's not the grill, it's the man on the grill
I just got the fireboard 2 pro and now spark for father's day. Really cool
All you need is Firecups for those pits to run like a champ🔥
Making one for the master built XT by chance? I have a FireBoard for my kettle and am going to upgrade to the XT
Yes, we’re verifying the proper connections…
Unless you have Goldees M&M offset these three are all just fighting for second place.
Do you have a Goldee’s?
@@billbryant1288 I don't need to have one to see that the goldees is a game changer. That guy thinks outside of the box. You should buy a 6" 90° and build one for yourself. The fact that you can load 9 briskets in it at once instead of 4 in yours proves the point. Law of the jungle. Adapt or be left on the side of the road.
@@bayareaartist999 Maybe so, or maybe they are all so good that it's more the Indian than the arrow at this level and all make great BBQ if you do your part. (I never need to load 9 briskets; if I did, I'd be looking at none of these.) What are you cooking on?
Can’t wait
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
I can't take you serious on how you pronounce brazos! I stopped watching after you mutilated that lol
I have a 1050 and I purchased a Fireboard 2 pro I have my switches bypassed on the hopper and the ash pan door and I have it set to door detection is off. I have it hooked up to a power source so it is rrunning 12v but my fan isn’t working what do I need to do?
Very excited to find this channel and the possibility of picking up my dream smoker in my home state and not worry about shipping....I will definitely be checking out your store when down there soon
Are all your grills made in Mexico or just a few of them

Wow when I heard $3800 plus tax+ for the Workhorse 1969, I am happy to have gotten my 1975 in February of last year for $3600 with shipping and tax included. Inflation is going up quickly and so is metal getting expensive! Me personally $5200 for the franklin is too overly hyped. I had both, and workhorse has done me better in my opinion. I sold my Franklins and bought the WH1975. On Franklins, there is less room to cook, 1/4" instead of 3/8" in WH all around, no top grate when its great for chicken ribs, oxtails, jerky, etc. Brisket is not the only option for bbq. Also no firebox which allows you to have direct fire cook for you food. And 4 thermometers have helped me when putting food close to the fire and farout depending what im cooking instead one 1 on Franklin's. Either way, great video explaining the differences.
Do you guys carry the competition yoder pellet smoker?
Yes we do! What size are you looking for?
You still have 1975s?
Currently the waitlist is looking like April for 1975s.
5k is alot to spend on a backyard smoker thats not being used to make money with. Its not the pit its the pitmaster that makes good bbq
Yes, 5k is a chunk of change. However we sell $5k plus gas grills an every day too. Yes, the pit is singularly not going to make the food, however I’ve cooked on plenty of smokers that will not turn out the level of food this does, especially a brisket, as easily as this one.
I own the larger workhorse 1975 wagon model…I’ve had smaller smokers and while I was able to turn out great bbq on them all, this next level pit makes it so much easier…the way the fat renders on briskets and the ability to cook 3-4 briskets with zero problem was what I was looking for…not to mention it’s a work of art that just looks bad ass sitting on my back patio…my last cook I had 3 briskets, 6 racks of ribs & 40 chicken wings all on at the same time with room for more…
If I was going to spend 5K on a smoker, I’d make sure that it would be big enough to run a small business off of it😎💯
These smokers are the cat's meow. Unfortunately the price point has doubled since 2020, more than 2X the rate of actual high inflation experienced during that time. Not just these pits, but all the high end offsets.
If I lived in CA it would ONLY be because of you guys!
👊
Can buy the 1969 direct for $2300 and you sell for $3700?
A few things about the difference in price: Workhorse has a lower price factory direct than we are held to as dealers. However, the wait far longer than you would get through a dealer if you go direct. They are supposed to move their prices up to match all their dealers. The other part of that is the cost of getting the smokers from GA to CA. It isn’t cheap!
@@TheBBQHQ So buying from you customers get free shipping?
Have you not seen the Old country mk 2 ? It has all the features you mentioned adding out of the box
Yes, we have had one for about a month and have been putting it through the paces. OC knocked it out of the park. We’ll be doing a bunch of videos with the G2!
I got my 1975 through you guys back in October. You guys were great to deal with and the guys were super knowledgeable. I highly recommend you guys to anyone in CA. Your selection in store was huge as well.
Thank you for the kind words! We work hard to give you the best experience!
Awesome stack extension! Question on removing the baffle plate - why would someone prefer to cook without one? Doesn't it level your temps better?
Actually no…removing baffle allows the heat to travel to the top and cook down much like a lot of popular pits do now days. You get a much bigger hot spot with heat coming from the bottom, and fat renders better with heat coming from the top.
Any videos on the new baffle with vent?
Shows out of stock now.
We have fireboards on the way. They should be here next week.
That does look like a pretty pit. For a backyard cooker, it might be a good little brisket hero helper, but also there's not a lot of people that want a brisket every weekend. I think more cooking real estate is what you're going to want. We get the fire going on the 1969 and the top cooking shelf can hold quite a bit of chicken thighs and wings. Add some sides on there and maybe even a butt on the left side of the bottom shelf.
We've had the 1969 for about a year and a half, just love it. New to offset cooking, but the lack of a little work shelf is really my only complaint about the '69. I can probably get someone to make a fold down shelf, but that pit is about 750# and it's not leaving my backyard 😊 Also the door on the '69 is pretty heavy and I've noticed a trend that I'm getting a little bit older every year. Couldn't imagine having a 1975 lid to open. Franklins looks nice, but you're going to want more real estate than one cooking shelf. Temps on that '69 top shelf can balance out when your fire settles in.
Will you guys have this event in 2024?
Absolutely! We will have our 2024 event in May; date TBD
@@ericrowley6930 can’t wait thank you and happy holidays
Wow these pits are pricey!
Brazos is definitely the most “bang for the buck”. Metal in the last few years has become exponentially more expensive. Yoders have doubled in price from when I started selling them 10 plus years ago.
That Franklin pit is overpriced for what you get. Not sure why anyone would pay 2k+ more for that vs a 1969 pit. The wheels and insulated firebox do not justify that price imo
Overpriced is subjective. The 1969 and the Franklin are both fantastic cooking pits, and I enjoy cooking on both. The Franklin has a few nice touches and characteristics beyond the Firebox and wheels that some prefer. The rounded exhaust end of the chamber, the balance of the lid, the baffle design to name a few. Out here on the west coast it’s about a $1500 difference between a loaded out ‘69 and the Franklin. Always good conversations though. As I mentioned in the video it’s like cars 🤘
I agree. You can barely cook 2 small briskets on all of these.
Not at all. You can buy a pit big rnough to start a small business for 5k. That franklin smoker is backyard size. Its the pitmaster and not the pit that makes good bbq
Thanks for the breakdown! How does shipping to Nor Cal look for a Brazos? Not a dealbreaker, might be able to convince some family down south to hold onto something until I could pick it up 😂
Shipping greatly depends on where your at, and the flavor of fuels costs of the week…reach out to our team and they’ll get you a quote.
Stack extension can be done from Lowe’s with a piece of pipe and an insert for $15 bucks. So anyone watching this go buy it there and save your self money. And the franklin Pitt cost $5200 and it’s only a 20 inch chamber. The workhorse has a 24 inch pipe
Yes, the cheap ducting works but some prefer a more finished product. To each their own. Yes, the Franklin and the WH 1969 are 20” chambers. The 1975 moves to 24”.
@@TheBBQHQI didn’t know the 1969 was a 20inch pipe. I have the 1975-t due to be delivered this upcoming week tho. Pretty excited after a year wait. I have ordered products from you all before and great service
Yeah, the Franklin and the 69 are identical in size. My 1975-t arrived damaged last month, so it’s back for repair at WH. What a tease!!! Can’t wait to get it. Thank you for the compliment. Customers, service and innovation are our priorities!
@@TheBBQHQhow much bigger is the 1975 over the brazos ? That’s what I have currently. I guess I ask from from a is is a big difference or just slightly
The 1975 is 94 ish gallons, and the brazos is about 50. So almost double the size!
Who else looks at smokers and then goes next level and optimizes performance with custom add-ons? Great work BBQHQ.
Thanks Steve. Wheels are always turning!
What is the estimated time frame of when the additional features to the Old Country (Higher stack, thermometer) be available?
We are hoping within a few weeks.
Glad to finally see the 1969 and Franklin in the same video. I ordered a 1969 this year because of price and the cowboy firebox. I'm sure they both cook extremely well.
Thank you! Yes, they both cook exceptionally well. We are getting the new pit from Old Country very soon and I’m hoping it performs well too!
I bought a MB that was a total lemon. It ended up on the curb for scrap. Great concept but flimsy materials and sloppy construction. You couldn't give me anything made by this company.
Don’t disagree with your sentiments. Reason why we’ve stopped selling MB products.
What if the fan speed wont top 64% even when plugged into a 12v supply?
It’s showing 12v on the display? Are your switches bypassed?
@@TheBBQHQ They are, it seems kind of hit or miss now so I'm thinking there is an issue with my fireboard. The cable works great.
How do I bypass the switches, please?@@TheBBQHQ
With a direct cable, will I be bypassing the switches by using it
Like your grates I have the Jim Bowie smoker that is 7yrs can you make grates to fit my smoker and how much would they cost to make
I have the Masterbuilt 800 series and looking at getting the Fireboard 2 Drive. How do I connect the ambient air temp sensor to the Fireboard if it has a two prongs. What's the fix or correct way to attach it?
The FireBoard pro will accept that K type yellow connector that is stock on the grill, however our recommendation is to use a different probe than the stock one as you can try place it at grate level. The FireBoard drive is a different connector, but again placing the ambient probe at grate level gives you the best results.
@@TheBBQHQ I just bought the Fireboard 2 drive from you all yesterday and got one the ambient one that you all sell from a different place because it said y’all were out of stock. Super excited to use it with my Masterbuilt 800
They are fantastic.
Do you make them for pitboss smokers
Not quite yet. We are working through a few other models right now but pit boss is on the list.
I'll give you $400
How much $50,000 Get lost !
Too many zero’s there. It sells for $5150. Yes, it’s pricey, but this wasn’t designed to be a bargain. It’s craftsmanship and cooking ability is second to none.
That fist one looked killer ... I prefer to cook them to brisket temps
Don't want to do that with these beauties! I've made a few Trusties, but I still prefer them cooked over red oak on a Santa Maria grill.
do you make them for treager grills ?
Our first Traeger grates are due very soon…what model do you have?
which pellet are you using for a turkey ?
I lean towards an oak or the almond or plum from Knottywood.
can't beat The bbqhq service! Your grates are great and super easy to install.
Thank you for the compliment! We appreciate the support!
