Due to nervous bladders, two men come to an impossible standstill. This is a short I wrote several years ago, and a classmate at the time used the script for his thesis film.
This needs more views 🫶🏻🥰
Oh, thank you so much for this. At first, I thought it would be a simple gobble-gook of clips from vaguely "medieval" movies....and then I realized that this was original. Thank you.
Lovely version but ... where was the brindled hound?
Unfortunately I didn’t have the hound or the dog/horse wrangling skills to pull that off at the time 😓
Love this version and the film. I know all the places mentioned in this song and can never drive over Kirkstone Pass without thinking about it. Well done to the film maker!
This is fantastic!
Congratulations on your enchanting, atmospheric and sensitive visual interpretation of the song. The heroic and gallant knight and the fair enchantress play their silent parts excellently well - mystical and expressive without being overly histrionic - and all perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the tale. Whatever version of the song one likes best (and over the last 50 years, I've heard many!) this film would go beautifully with any of them. Well done, o parfit gentyl knycht!
A brilliant adaptation of the rousing Stan Rogers favourite. Skeptical until I watched it, but Kate can pull just about anything off. Sad that she is almost unknown in the US.
From the US, I'll inject a little hope into the situation by saying she's one of my favourites. The Wild Goose is probably at the top of my list, although I'd never heard her version of this poem before -- amazing.
I came for the brindled hound... where's the dog?
Clearly I must remake this some day with the hound
Where is his hound and hawk?
The Lady in the song is Epona the Rider Queen, Lady of horses. One of most powerful and important members of the Celtic pantheon. She was so popular that her worship became common among the legions of Rome and even inspired traditions that survive today like putting horse shoes above the entrance to a stable
If you're used to the Stan Rogers version just put it in 1.25 speed.
Beautifully done! I love the video
Lovely Kate best wishes from Co.Mayo
Sorry Kate, but for me this isn't a patch on Stan Roger's version, and Archie's original is great too.
Great work!
I learned this song almost 50 years ago as a kid. The version I learned was done by Stan Rogers, which is a rousing melody sung faster with a male voice. I've never heard it done this way before, but there is something I like about it. I also think it is cool that there is a video to go along with it. I was looking for the hound and hawk but I guess it was their day off :) Well done!
Beautiful. I wonder where this was filmed?
Missouri, surprisingly enough
@@RussellGummelt wow, never would have guessed that.
While the ending seems to suggest that his quest was ultimately in vain, the only real complaint I have is that I couldn't get a good sense of how bad his wound was; at first glance it looked like a mere flesh wound that could've been healed with a poultice and a couple bandages. Ah well, I still liked the movie and the inspiration is clearly visible. All in all, I liked this movie enough to add it to my list of Favorites; thank you for making and posting it.
First infection was usually the killer in them days. Second it is not about the wound; it is about one variety of Mythological Quest - to be Healed. Behold the successful Quest: "And she's bound his wounds with the goldenrod, full fast in her arms he lay And he has risen hale and sound with the sun high in the day She said "Ride with your brindled hound at heel, and your good grey hawk in hand There's none can harm the knight who's lain with the Witch of the Westmorland. "" - Witch of the Westmorland by Archie Fischer (1971) This video is derived then revised to suit this artistic interpretation thus completely changing its meaning. Listen to the Stan Rogers version if you want a dramatic presentation of a Mythological theme. Every time I listen to it I get chills. BTW, in the original his vision is communicated to him in the cries of the "feasting Ravens" and his Quest guided by various animals to his ultimate success. I hope you found this interesting or helpful. Cheers!
@@kaoskronostyche9939 I've heard the Stan Rogers version; my personal favorite is Hank Cramer's, which does include the feasting crows. th-cam.com/video/AFsNs0BxnNs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0iJgg5oHiLmnoLp_
This might be the most beautiful version of this song I've ever heard and the video that goes with it seems well made, almost in sync with the music. Going to watch the full video now.
Stan Rogers' version is better.
@@emeraldmurphy8272 my favorite is Hank Cramer's
Beautiful version of this haunting song. Love the images that accompany it also.
One of my favorite songs of all time, beautiful, rarely hear archys version anymore everyone knows it by Stan’s version it seen. Regardless very well done
Both are really good versions of the song. I'd like Stan's more if it included everything from the original, but I prefer his tempo over Archie's.
A romantic and moving song, We either have otherworldly guardians or wish we have, If the latter, will such thoughts give us ease in our passing. Aos Sidhe!
BRAVO

Cinematography, sound all great.
Where is Conan?😞😒😔
I'm sorry, but I didn't understand any of it. It lacked direction. I haven't seen the prelude or sequel to this excerpt and so was lost in space.
Best of the end. I don't think he die before.
Wow. What is this. Searched for more about this.... Amazing. Well done, love it.
The crows would have had his eyes.
The story here, reminds of "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge" though I assume this folk song story is older.
dont know about the song, but Ambrose Bierce did it better
Was here to say the same. Great work. Tell a story in 10 mins or less
YES! Thank you! When I pitched it to my DP, I referenced that short film specifically.
Very well done. I hope you dp more Are you familiar with the song "Willy's Lady" by Ray Fisher, who was Archie's sister. It's a tale of overcoming a witch with a mocking saucy fiddle.
Here is Ray;s version of this great story ballad. th-cam.com/video/6mdzl1LWBk0/w-d-xo.html
this is great - you deserve many more subscribers to have you supported your work,,, (like me from now on,)

I Agree that was Excellent. Very Intriguing, Fascinating, as well as very Compelling too know or possibly Read More of it? Thank You for Presenting it to US.
Excellent quality and a compelling storyline _ Great Good Luck with future projects 😉🙏
Neat video.
Nossa!!! Parece tirano deve ser bom filme.
Much better than I expected, well acted compared to many shorts.
